A very smart player, she might not be the strongest but shes one of the smartest. All around player, specially her floor defense, superb and a good leader.
She will never be as explosive as the other Outside Hitter during her time (Megan Hodge, Kimberly Hill, Michelle Bartsch-Hackley etc) but she is always so consistent and plays so smart. She is the glue that binds the team together.
She can't pull off this performance against better teams like China, Italy, Turkey, Serbia, Brazil etc. This might sound rude but she's getting old, she's slow and she can barely jump. She looks tired. She hasn't been a threat for the last few years now. I've been a fan of hers since her collegiate career at Nebraska but I think she should allow younger players to shine.
She’s not getting old and she’s still consistent all throughout the years. She’s a great leader that glues the entire USA NT together. Of course she’s not as explosive as other wing spikers but she’s clutch, clever, and defensive-minded.
she should allow other players to shine? this isn't about allowing anything...this is about building the best team to give USA a chance to win, and if she is leading in kills during qualification then I think she is kinda proving she still belongs. Her defense is also superb and though that's easy for us fans to overlook, the coaches do not.

Omat Vargas she’s a clutch goddess though. They’ll need a veteran in Tokyo to help carry the team through morale and consistent performance.
