I asked my good friend Alex from Guam, to teach me how to play this song on the ukulele to specifically play & sing it to my mother. She moved to Arizona while I was back here on the island of Kauai.
I played & sang it to her over the phone while she was on lunch break. We both broke down with happiness & sadness. Ever since, she’d always ask me to play & sing it to her at the end our beautiful conversations. It made us feel together. It was always a beautiful moment for us.

I met Ziggy serendipitously on a beach in Hawaii in 1999 after I'd been repeating the mantra-title of his song 'Shalom Salaam' non-stop for the past two hours. Ziggy loved hearing about it. He threw back his dreads laughing loudly, saying something like, "That's life for you! Magic!" Then he invited me to visit him in Jamaica. I told him I almost never left Maui, so it was unlikely. and thanked him for the invitation, anyway.

The first time I ever heard this song was last year. I went to Hawaii for the first time, turned on the radio in my rental car and this was literally the first song that came on it was kismet. Ever since, this song has always relaxed me and makes me want to go back to Hawaii...
