You really have to admire Pat Morita's performance in the fight scenes - despite his age when making these movies there's not a moment when you aren't convinced he could wipe the floor with anyone who challenge him, it's all about his presence I think. He is brilliant in the comedic and dramatic scenes in these movies but his work in the fight scenes too should be praised. What a legend!
I love how they did that putting her in cobra kai that way was the best thing they could have done and I think it's cool that she's the one who set Daniel and Amanda up together
Not too mention Jessica convincing Amanda that Cobra Kai is a legit threat and not just Daniels old vendetta. Up to that point Amanda was completely clueless

The guy playing Barnes actually was a legit karate practitioner, and my only guess is that his punches were too fast for Morita to block, so he purposely telegraphed them to make Morita look faster.
Ya I was disappointed he got knocked out at end. I wanted to see him clean up with those guys. It was still really good. Tho not quite the dramatic vibe of the original films. I hope we see Julie in next season! She’s basically the last one. We even saw Jessica andrews which is crazy

Imo as kids in the original Kai Kid series, Mike Barnes was the most formidable, strongest, highly skilled and toughest karate blackbelt fighter and villain imo, with Chozen as a teenager being a close, narrow second. And young Johnny third. As teenagers Mike Barnes was a professional National karate tournament champion fighter and number one karate champion in the United States of America in his time in Karate Kid 3. Daniel Larusso by 3 was realistically far more combat skilled and experienced in both karate tournament competition from fighting the Cobra Kai in KK1 and street fighting from his deadly one on one bare knuckle street fight to the death against young Chozen overseas in Okinawa one year before but Daniel in KK3 was also borderline overweight, chubby, out of shape, untrained and out of practice aside from Miyagi's kata defense counter attack exercise, ironically only move that Barnes couldn't counter against, but Barnes easily, quickly, and effortlessly mopped the floor with Daniel in three street fights outside the ring, first inside of Mr. Miyagi's bonsai tree store, except two free shots he let Daniel land on him indifferently, again in Mr. Miyagi's backyard till Terry Silver intervened and staged a mock fight/beatdown on Mike to gain Daniel's trust and friendship more so, and again in Kreese and Silver's Cobra Kai dojo towards the end before Miyagi showed up and destroyed all three one by one in turn flawlessly. While karate kid 3 is definitely not the best I still liked it mainly because of Thomas ian griffith who was awesome as terry silver and Sean Kanan was hilarious as Mike Barnes daniel punches him in the face "don't do that" LMAO 🤣😂 I hope he's in the upcoming season of Cobra Kai

This was honestly the one point in the movies where Mr. Miyagi was wrong. After this he should have been willing to train Daniel.

There might have been a deleted scene in this fight scene. At 1:28, after one of mikes goons gets flipped, look at Mike. He signals for Dennis to make a move against mr mushy. Dennis charges at him, but it’s abruptly cut off to where Mike Barnes faces him. Maybe there is an extended fight scene?
The actor who plays Dennis addresses that in an interview.

The only bad thing is that Daniel is so inconsistent with fights. You’d think he’d improve his karate since the first film but he’s still the exact same in KK3, only in Cobra Kai he’s a master

Now Daniel is best friends and unlikely allies with Mike Barnes, Chozen and Johnny Lawrence. Funny how life turned out in their adulthood years in Cobra Kai. Imo as kids in the original Kai Kid series, Mike Barnes was the most formidable, strongest, highly skilled and toughest karate blackbelt fighter and villain imo, with Chozen as a teenager being a close, narrow second. And young Johnny third. As teenagers Mike Barnes was a professional National karate tournament champion fighter and number one karate champion in the United States of America in his time in Karate Kid 3. Daniel Larusso by 3 was realistically far more combat skilled and experienced in both karate tournament competition from fighting the Cobra Kai in KK1 and street fighting from his deadly one on one bare knuckle street fight to the death against young Chozen overseas in Okinawa one year before but Daniel in KK3 was also borderline overweight, chubby, out of shape, untrained and out of practice aside from Miyagi's kata defense counter attack exercise, ironically only move that Barnes couldn't counter against, but Barnes easily, quickly, and effortlessly mopped the floor with Daniel in three street fights outside the ring, first inside of Mr. Miyagi's bonsai tree store, except two free shots he let Daniel land on him indifferently, again in Mr. Miyagi's backyard till Terry Silver intervened and staged a mock fight/beatdown on Mike to gain Daniel's trust and friendship more so, and again in Kreese and Silver's Cobra Kai dojo towards the end before Miyagi showed up and destroyed all three one by one in turn flawlessly. Barnes dominated Daniel throughout the entire All-Valley state karate championship tournament at the end but honestly Daniel was broken down and paralyzed by psychological and emotional fear of Mike Barnes plus Sensei John Kreese and Terry Silver behind him and Silver's psychological warfare and mind games, having pretended to be Daniel's friend and mentor training him for the tournament when Mr. Miyagi initially refused to, teaching Daniel aggression , rage, brute force and brutality in the ways of the Cobra Kai, making Daniel forget what karate was truly about and everything Mr. Miyagi taught Daniel about karate, forcing Daniel to physically injure himself to weaken him physically and mentally and torture Daniel, making Daniel believe he's invincible, sending Mike Barnes and his two cronies after Daniel repeatedly as intimidation early on, then once Silver revealed his true nature and agenda alongside Kreese and Barnes, Daniel was paralyzed by fear and mortal terror. Even when Miyagi trained Daniel for the tournament against Mike. However, Daniel overcomes his fear of Mike Barnes at the end after Miyagi's motivational speech about never losing to fear, countered Barnes with Miyagi's kata defense counter attack technique and kata, and wins the final point Daniel needed to win. If Mike fought Daniel and Daniel was thin, athletic, lean, training everyday as he was in KK2, and if not for Silver's psychological warfare and mind games and fear, Daniel would have held his own, given Barnes a run for his money and a worthy, formidable fight and it would've been a close, narrow, two sided, evenly matched fight but Barnes still would've won a real street fight without rules imo. Teenage Chozen vs Mike Barnes, Chozen would've given Barnes the toughest fight of his life and a brutal beating and it would've been a close, evenly matched brawl but Barnes would've won if Chozen wasn't armed. As adults on the Cobra Kai TV series, adult Chozen Tagucchi is the most highly trained, highly skilled, experienced, formidable blackbelt karate grandmaster and Okinawan Miyagi-Doh trained martial arts master, but adult Mike Barnes, who was barred from competition but still trained in his home behind closed doors over the years obviously and visibly, put up a very good, formidable fight against Chozen hand to hand in their brief one on one brawl before Daniel broke it up. Chozen crushed Mike's leg but Mike fought back, rocked Chozen with a powerful backfist although Chozen blocked and countered the rest of Mike's blows and kicks. Chozen would've eventually won and beaten adult Mike on the show but it was evenly matched and a near draw. Teenage Daniel narrowly beat Chozen in Okinawa in their street fight to the death using Mr. Miyagi's drum technique to block and counter Chozen's attacks with devastating open-handed palm strike blows to the head. Or he would have died. Adult Chozen easily beat Daniel in their rematch in Okinawa on Cobra Kai plus taught him the lethal secret pressure points of Miyagi-Doh Okinawan karate Daniel used to beat Kreese and nearly killed Kreese alongside Johnny until the kids showed up.
I was hoping Barnes would do the same kick on Sam he did on Jessica but I know.... shocker... wouldn't fly today.
