I did a lot of research on more affordable EPs with weighted keys and this is the one I chose. Thank you for reinforcing my choice as you are a very credible piano man ;-)

I searched and searched for information on how to use it. I found very little. Mostly reviews. You did! You went through the it all (almost. Why did you skp the "chord" function. I can't figure that one out.) Novetheless, great job. The manual was of little help. Now I can operate the piano. Thanks so much. You were a life saver!!!

Chuck thanks for the super review , I’m very impressed by this instrument and I can report I’m rapidly becoming a fan of the Donner range of products. I currently use the Donner midi pad controller , which I use for transport control of the daw and also to control expression and various additional Cc items ….it’s really good and all for the price of few beers and substaial Pizza 😂. If you are serious about recording piano or other instruments you really do need to have a velocity sensitive keyboard and performance wise weighted keys of course make all the difference. This piano seems to meet these requirements at a bargain price so as my aging Korg Sp 240 spirals to incept date , I will be keeping the Donner clearly in mind 🙏🙏🏿👍🎩✨🦄

I'm considering this or a DDP 100 ... Please recommend which one sounds best / feels best. Is the DDP 100 worth the extra $$?

Heyho, sry if I missed it in the video: Is it possible to mute the piano, hook it up to a PC with a DAW and reroute the PC line out back in the piano, to get access to even better piano sound?
Or will the master volume mute the line in as well?

This is the best explanation of polyphony that I have heard. And I listen to a lot of keyboard review channels. Thanks Chuck!

Great review as always! Surprised you did not seem to really subjectively review the action though. Just ordered one as a backup DP (fully weighted, 128poly, 24watt, etc). Seems like a price bracket killer at about the 500 dollar 5-11 or so watt 68 poly, ~, keyboards from Yama, Roland, Casio, ~.
Glad I found it. I was about to go with a 700 dollar Kawai ES110 (14 watt 🤣) and I did not like the action at the price compared to my 2 Ca49's GFC (of course...). At sub 400 ES110 would compare.... maybe :).

    Brilliant review Chuck!
We’re getting one of these for our slightly corporate office - times are changing!
Means that people can break out and let some steam off/ increase their creativity.
Although I have a Hammond SKx Pro at home, I can’t wait to play this.
Much love from England and keep up the good work 😊

Hi Chuck, thank you for this great review and greetings from Italy.
I have a specific question for you.
I'm 70yo and I'm studying piano since a couple of years, with a great pleasure.
At home I have a small keyboard, paid less than 100$, with soft light keys. The problem is that when I go to the school I find there a Kaway acoustic coda piano that is quite hard to play, and my teacher always says "you should study on a real piano digital piano, with good weighted keys". Here comes the question: does the DEP-20 piano have a real good weighted keyboard? I mean, is the weight similar to a real coda acoustic piano? And is it progressive, as a weight, going from right to left? In short, is this digital piano a good study tool? I don't care too much about the sound quality, as you can guess I'll never go play on stage at my age. But I just would like to feel good passing from this digital piano at home to the coda piano at school. Thanks a lot.

Just beautiful Chuck! Whether you're playing "Forgotten" on a $300 piano or a $5,000 piano, it sounds just as good. It's one of those tunes you never get sick of hearing.
Other memorable numbers that I never get sick of are the choral from Beethoven's 9th and "Walk Away Renee" ( because I was with Tony Sansone when he wrote it (most likely the reason why) "Lady Jane", Ruby Tuesday, and "God only Knows " ( even though the BB's weren't great in concert, they recorded well)
I'd say you're in great company!
Hope the lady of the house is recovered and doing well! In my prayers always,
Thanks for your hard work, it's well appreciated here. You're the best of the best Chuck!!

hey chuck are the keys noisy? held up well with time? too tall? (if you have it around, how much is the height bottom to keybed without counting the spesakers) what's your recommendation under 400$? right now I can get it at 308€ which is 50-130€ less than the other ones

Great review, thank you! Can we get a source on Stereo keyboards using 2 notes of polyphony for every key pressed? The output may be stereo but the actual midi signal should only count as 1 note towards the polyphony count. Can you verify? 5:11

    • @PianoManChuck
      @PianoManChuck  ปีที่แล้ว

MIDI has absolutely nothing to do with polyphony at all. MIDI is simply a protocol to tell the sound engine what keys are struck, how hard/soft, etc. Polypyhony is how many notes the sound engine can reproduce at the same time.
