  • This is a Death Penalty Case.
Anthony Pardon, 54, stands trial in Columbus, Ohio for allegedly killing Rachael Anderson, 24. He faces a slew of charges, including aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, kidnapping, rape, and aggravated robbery.
Prosecutors say the defendant strangled and stabbed the victim to death. Anderson stained injuries to the neck, head, torso, arms, wrists, and ankles, authorities said. She was last seen alive on her birthday, January 28, 2018.
The state is expected to use DNA, cell phone data, and surveillance footage against Pardon. Investigators said he had her debit card.
Pardon was set to serve as his own attorney at trial, but he walked back that decision.
In a letter to the court, he previously complained about his attorneys, saying that he was told there’s no chance he could win because “this is a white man’s city. They are not going to let you get off with killing that white woman.” The defendant is black. Anderson was white.
In his letter, the defendant said his lawyers told him the best they could do is try to keep him off death row.
Nonetheless, Pardon wrote a letter in December to WBNS. He insisted that he really did know her and that he was in her apartment getting high with her. The defendant insisted on his innocence. Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Ron O’Brien said there’s no evidence Pardon and Anderson knew each other.
The defendant’s criminal history of adjudicated, violent, sexual crimes dates back even to his teens.

This forensic pathologist is one of the best I've seen on the stand. Clear, concise and patient. Appears an extremely reliable witness. Could listen to him for a year.

If your going to go through the trouble of filming the trial at least allow the audience to see everything the jury does

I would be interested in seeing the photos just out of curiosity. Not because of some perverse fascination with death but just because I love true crime and investigation as well as court proceedings. But I understand why they don't show them on tv out of respect for the victim and her family.

If the justice system would of kept this low life behind bars where he belongs this young girl would be alive today carrying on with her life. In fairness the idiot who signed the monsters freedom papers should be held accountable too.

Why can’t we see the evidence? I’m going to school for forensic pathology and I’m interested in seeing what the dr here is describing. Just because I know some of the people testifying are paid and id love to make my own conclusion as someone who has some training in this area.

Because most people would find viewing autopsy photos of a young rape/murder victim disturbing...duh. If you want to view murder victims go to the morgue

When these channels pay for this live feed from the courtroom they enter into agreements set by the Judge. They often demand that these images can't be recorded. When we view through TH-cam, the channel has to abide by their guidelines as well.
