I bought a cheap £15 number 4 and it does work really well but you couldn't meditate with it as it is quite noisy. The other problem is the fact you have to put it in the middle of the room so if you're watxhing tv its quite a bright light in corner of your eyes. For 15 pounds its awesome but id like to try the angle one to have on the bedside table.
Hi. I have projector model number 2. Works fine until suddenly the stars and aurora can't rotate. The remote control still works fine ( all buttons + arrow ) . Do you have suggestion to fix it?
This is a really good side-by-side comparison, and I like that there's the infographic so you know what to look for, especially with the lower end models which are often rebranded and resold. I'm gonna try out one of the cheaper models (#2) but #5 looks particularly nice to me. If I end up liking it, the one I order I may move on and try one of the Sega light projectors.
I love the black and white projections. I never thought I'd consider the original Sega over the Flux because usually newer is better. But better for me means less light intrusion in the room. I want to turn this on as I play video games in a dark room and I don't mean for it to be a distraction visually. Excellent video and thank you for helping me focus my terminology as I search for a projector.

1:40 gotta be the nerd and say it lol it doesn't make sense for the stars to have both 4 AND 6 diffraction spikes (the lines coming off) whether it has 4 or 6 diffraction spikes depends on which telescope the picture is taken with, you'd never see both in one picture
The DS-1 is the one to have -blows the competition out of the water, all its components are quality and is not mass produced like the rest. Yes it costs more than the rest but you really cant compare a Rolls Royce to a Toyota!
oh my god thank you thank you! It's impossible to find a comparison of what these look like. I didn't even know the high end things existed. I think I'm content with the cheaper ones (#4) but some of them are downright pretty. I like having the ambient light.

I prefer Units 5, 6, and 7, as they're more realistic. Their stars are random unlike in units 1 to 4, which clearly have a fixed linear pattern and spacing -- and the stars appear to come in only 3 sizes. Plus, units 5, 6, and 7 don't brighten up the room too much, which makes it easier to fall asleep -- I only wish that the (Milky Way?) actually galaxy has color and don't cost more than a hundred bucks (ouch!).

You're welcome, glad you found it helpful. So many people focus on what is being projected it's easy to forget what happens to the rest of the room. You'll defo want one of the later ones to keep the room dark.

I do have a question, however; Do you know of a at least decent projector that projects a star map/chart with constellations, rather then the night sky stars? or has them on top at least? Besides the Flux and other Sega projectors. I love realistic stars but I'm much more interested in a actual star chart with the names of stars/constellations but finding one has been rough.

I like 5. There are some stars, but not so much that there will be too much light to sleep. Six and 7 are also good options. One through 4 seem like more for a kids room.
I’ve spent the last few days looking for a star projector/planetarium that suits my wants and even with 2 years of new devices since this video was made, I still can’t find what I’m looking for. I just want a detailed black and white night sky of stars that periodically twinkle and shoot across the ceiling with a wide angle lens that I can control with Alexa. Edit: I found it. But it was 250 dollars. It was on sale for cyber Monday so I bought it for 211-ish. Fingers crossed it doesn’t suck. It’s the boxvous star projector. I can find all of these features but not a single product with all of them.
I bought a Sega Flux and I'm greatly disappointed by it. Very expensive and it works only in complete, and I mean complete darkness. The slightest bit of ambient light from f.i. a colored LED lighting in your room or even some street lighting from outside will completely wash out the star projection. Only get this if you really demand accurate star configuration and are OK with otherwise completely darkening your room.
non all too bright. Great for a party. But too bright for sleeping ,Id rather more natural night sky, less stars, with the odd shooting star every couple of mins would be cool.
Digistar 5 - 10's of thousands of dollars. Adler planetarium. Honestly. I do like the fake color nebula and laser stars. Just wish they would come out with a white laser star projector. I don't need it to be realistic. I just want star trek space nebula and gaseous colorful clouds... maybe planets and rings. Just escape into a a planetary expanse.
Excellent comparison with very clear imagery by which to assess the differences. As an amateur astronomer, the last unit stands out for its representation of the dark nebulae. These under appreciated galactic structures are the cold molecular clouds within which gravitational collapse leads to the formation of all stars and 'solar systems'. One such was our own cosmic cradle. From a dark location many of these dusty clouds are visible to the unaided eye, and binoculars are just about the ultimate instrument for their more detailed observation.

Do any room "environment projectors" have disparate, yet animated scenes? By that I mean can any single projector for instance show a planetarium with twinkling and shooting stars, and then by swapping a disc (or whatever) have an immersive animated aquarium with moving fish, bubbles, etc?
Did the Flux or Original come with lens cap covers? I saw other reviews where they did. Also, does the Flux & Original focus ring ever stop, or just keep spinning?
I have the no. 4 , it is very pretty and I can use Bluetooth to play my playlist on the projector, I am pretty interested in 5,6 or7 but I can’t decide. ☺️
Very good review, I hate one that try to be entertaining with snappy cut shots, slow mo or glitch effects or 'banter' I just want to see the items not be entertained by some wanba be kids presenter. This was a good straight forward and informative production without all the 'hey look at me I'm entertaining you' BS Informative and not overly long and bloated with banter. I think "Sega original" projects the most realistic night sky on the ceiling. It looks good at creating the illusion of sleeping in a roofless room.

Great Great and Great. I have number 3 and to bright. I just don't know how to work it or the remote. I have to get up and unplug to turn off. Bummer.
Very good review, I hate one that try to be entertaining with snappy cut shots, slow mo or glitch effects or 'banter' I just want to see the items not be entertained by some wanba be kids presenter.
This was a good straight forward and informative production without all the 'hey look at me I'm entertaining you' BS
Informative and not overly long and bloated with banter.
BtW I like 4 cheap one and 5 the more realistic one.
