This feels like one of those tracks that you like well enough upon initial listen, but it will connect in that right moment, maybe at a show or in your car, when it lays its full self and meaning out to you and just washes over you like a wave.
I was thinking about this during my first listen! You love it initially - but then you fall in love with it more at the exact right time, or if you listen to it on repeat. Felt the same with Tiny Moves, Alma Mater - now im hopelessly in deep.
What a fantastic track. This doesn't hit like a hurricane, but more like a soft summer breeze that reminds you of the glory days of yesteryear. It curls your lips into a wry smile as you reflect on all those moments that have come to pass. It makes you nod and smile to the wistful, soft tones of a former life . The saxophone hugs you like a blanket of nostalgia, dreaming of what had been and how we stood on the shoulders of giants. This is a sunset of a song that brings out the best moments of ones heart. Who knows where we go from here, but we have lived a life and our best days are still ahead of us. Our dreams of summer still reflect on the waves as we realise we are still in spring and life is yet to catch up. Stay the wonder my friends, stay the wonder.
Verse 1] Batter after batter I couldn't play ball I dreamt of anybody else's world I wasn't ready at all [Pre-Chorus] Scared to start and my face betrays me Gotta get out before the heart starts shakin' That was me blue [Chorus] That was me before you That was me before you [Verse 2] You hate bein' a passenger The fate of someone else's wheel They say they'll have you home for dinner, baby, baby, baby In a home that you'll share [Pre-Chorus] My bed was a placе for the lonely Built it that way, came to think it was holy That was mе blue Crossfade into the dark, have a smoke, yeah Take another drink or walk with the news playin' That was me too [Chorus] That was me before you That was me before you That was me before you [Bridge] Crossfade into the night, have a smoke, yeah Take another drink or walk with the news playin' My bed was a place for the lonely Built it that way, came to think it was holy Scared to start and my face betrays me Gotta get out before the heart starts shakin' [Outro] That was me before you Me before you Oh, and I'm tired and in woe Tired and in woe
That's a great observation! I knew that had Springsteen vibes, but I couldn't quite place which era. I feel like if an artist is from New Jersey, they all have a similar FEELING in their sound.
I have to say this. It is 1:30 am and I've never commented much on your channel before, but I feel compelled to do so. I have to say - this song is spectacular. The quality of your musical production is BEYOND anyone else's (Except T swift but you are the reason her music is so good let's be HONEST!) Everything you touch turns to GOLD Jack!!! Taylor swift is so lucky to have you as the magic behind her tracks !!! I'm so glad she's giving you all the recognition and inclusion you deserve at the grammy's and by her collaborating with you for a version of Anti Hero. Fun! was super lucky to have you as a band member too. I remember seeing you slaying guitar in Toronto at a FUN! concert on stage in the middle of a field. The whole crowd was LIT and swayed and was screaming ENCORE for more of you JACK! I fell in love with your music with FUN! back in 2011 or 2012 and been in love ever since. Later, during my first year at university my friend (who is also coincidentally named Jack) told me that this band I'd never heard of called Bleachers was the BEST album and I had to listen -- so I went to HMV and bought Strange Desire and let me tell you, other Jack was RIGHT! It was SOOOOOOOO good. It became my go-to fav album for long car rides. Years later I was still blasting it in my car CD player on my way to teachers college, or home to see family. A few years later I was going through a pretty bad depression+anxiety time in my life (now I am medicated - I have GAD) and FOLKLORE was the album that I listened to while processing my grief and sadness, but it also lifted me UP. Evermore brought me even more bliss. THEN... midnights! Lavender haze, maroon, antihero, snow on the beach, midnight rain, labrynth --- all soooo good. Lover too. Then when MODERN GIRL came out it was a work morning. I woke up and listenened and started dancing in my bed before work it was so good -- like COME ON. It was stuck in my head ALL DAY. That saxophone intro had me from the jump. And your Jimmy Kimmel performance was soooo good! You are PURE MAGIC JACK. I love you. Thank you for everything !!!! Like a River Runs will always be my favourite song to listen to while embarking on any driving adventure (the drum beat hook at the start is sublime). I'll be listening to your work for the rest of my life!!
BEEN SINGING THIS THE WHOLE WEEK THINKING THE LYRICS TO 2:23 WERE My bed was a place for the lonely Nothing but a waste When you came, it was holy Loved the correct lyrics tho❤😂
@@thekid1568 well, i know that. But also i know a whole bunch of bands with even greater lead singers with releases which covers represents either all of current members or none. No negative or positive here, just a fact.
Alma Mater (Dec 8th): this one is my fav Tiny Moves (Jan 18th): no, i love this one better Me Before You (Feb 22nd): shit i think i’m in trouble choosing my fav on the album

I feel you on this actually. Feels like a hand on your back or a hug when you’re kind of down thinking about some shit you went through.
bro wut
That's a perfect description of almost all their songs
I was thinking about this during my first listen! You love it initially - but then you fall in love with it more at the exact right time, or if you listen to it on repeat. Felt the same with Tiny Moves, Alma Mater - now im hopelessly in deep.
This is so accurate

this is beautiful thank you
Oh, God, so well expressed. Thank you. ❤
Ooh, that thematic, dreamy saxophone, love that.
This feels like the "Im on Fire" track from this album
thought the same exact thing. ❤
My new favorite Bleachers song this track is magical big Secret Garden vibes!
SG by Bruce Springsteen? I love that song so much and no one else ever knows it 😭 I fell so hard for it the first time I ever watched Jerry McGuire
It’s so hard to choose a favourite song on this album
♥️😎🎵🔥
Best song of album with a heavy distance
Very calming yet a jam. Love the drums fading in around 2:04
Verse 1]
Batter after batter
I couldn't play ball
I dreamt of anybody else's world
I wasn't ready at all
[Pre-Chorus]
Scared to start and my face betrays me
Gotta get out before the heart starts shakin'
That was me blue
[Chorus]
That was me before you
That was me before you
[Verse 2]
You hate bein' a passenger
The fate of someone else's wheel
They say they'll have you home for dinner, baby, baby, baby
In a home that you'll share
[Pre-Chorus]
My bed was a placе for the lonely
Built it that way, came to think it was holy
That was mе blue
Crossfade into the dark, have a smoke, yeah
Take another drink or walk with the news playin'
That was me too
[Chorus]
That was me before you
That was me before you
That was me before you
[Bridge]
Crossfade into the night, have a smoke, yeah
Take another drink or walk with the news playin'
My bed was a place for the lonely
Built it that way, came to think it was holy
Scared to start and my face betrays me
Gotta get out before the heart starts shakin'
[Outro]
That was me before you
Me before you
Oh, and I'm tired and in woe
Tired and in woe
The bleachers are the best!!!!
This song is gonna hit at the right moment and I’ll be in tears. Love it so many good songs on this album

EEEEEEEEVA ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
This was a miss
Everytime i listen to this song, i feel Peter Gabriel's vibes! love it so much
Last album had Born in The USA vibe- this one is hitting Tunnel of Love - hard, and I'm here for it! Get Jack a bolo tie and call it a day!
That's a great observation! I knew that had Springsteen vibes, but I couldn't quite place which era. I feel like if an artist is from New Jersey, they all have a similar FEELING in their sound.
Should be the soundtrack to some movie!
Congrats Jack , sound like a great wine in the middle of the night ✨️🖤
The ability to excite with a song that Bleachers has is incredible. What a great talent, true artist!!
Fantastic track, definitely my fave
i need the album like right now
Love this song Jack. It hurts to listen to but I love it at the same time.
Angels in my ears ❤
I love how subtle the 12 bar melody resolves, I recognize the talent
This band hits me like no other
this feels like a happy version of "about you" by the 1975 and im loving it
Actually the 1975’s bfiafl was washed in the bleachers style since jack antanoff produced it
Any song with "fuck off" in it is my favorite song.
That was me blue. 🌊

So excited for this album.
God this album keeps getting better and better
Just saying, would be really cool if you came to South Africa
ethereal
Strong secret garden vibes, maybe there's something in Jersey's waters

This new album seems like the most ambitious so far !
Absolutely amazing! Reminds me of one of my dear friends from England 🏴
Yet another masterpiece, can’t wait for the whole album
Jack, you're the only producer id compliment this way but this could've done with another instrument. Thank You
You did it again ❤
I love the fact that the band is called Bleachers as well as the this very self-titled album and yet it's only Antonoff who's on the cover)
He’s the lead singer dude
@@thekid1568 well, i know that. But also i know a whole bunch of bands with even greater lead singers with releases which covers represents either all of current members or none. No negative or positive here, just a fact.
Loving the Bruce influence on your songs now a days 🖤
So good
Love this song ❤
I like how this sounds like something that would be in B1 or B2
Does it?
I do think so, although way more "tamed." It's my favorite from the new album so far@@BeauregardB

I have such mixed feelings about this album. I’m used to high energy Jack on stage and can’t imagine that same energy with most of these new songs
