Since I uploaded the Jaguar version last month, I decided to post the SAT/PSX version this month. I say SAT/PSX because they're mostly the same and this video will serve for both playlists for that reason. I honestly expected this version to be better than the Jaguar counterpart, but it's not lol. There's some new things in this game like being able to slide on slippery platforms, but also the fairies that can turn you into mini-size. The levels are still the same, but some cage locations are changed and a few areas require a slightly different strategy. Overall, I find this version more tedious and difficult than the Jaguar counterpart and it helped me understand better why everybody remembers this game for it's ridiculous difficulty. The Jaguar version is still difficult as well, but not to this degree. Anyway, the video includes all of the stages with all cages collected. There's a few stages I had to re-visit as I didn't have the necessary upgrades to get all the cages during the first visit. The difficulty probably ruins the game for most, but it's very playable through emulation and save states. I do recommend the Jaguar version though
@@longplayarchive Title screen’s different, PS1 has no transitions between level sections (Rayman 2 PS1 does, though) and cutscenes look *much* better on PS1 (although that’s probably a shortcoming of the system, as i’ve noticed the same on your Tomb Raider ‘96 longplay). And i noticed all that in the *first five minutes* alone (i’m used to the PS1 and DOS versions, so i know what i’m talking about). You might want to do a comparison double-check on this one.
This generation of console games is a weird one because you’ll find that each port generally has some subtle strengths that aren’t found on the other port. The ‘best’ version is often times up to debate but the differences aren’t significant enough to warrant two videos. It’s just something we’ve decided on because otherwise you’re gonna see hundreds of games being re-done for like 5% difference
@@longplayarchive That makes sense. The game itself does look (and sound) the same. I hope you'll upload every version of Rayman 2 (except maybe PC, due to your guidelines), though. Those are all different.
I love Rayman! This was the only PS1 game my mom would play with me. His wacky design really stood out for her. That recognizablity is exactly what you'd want from a mascot platformer. 😤👌 I hope for a new instalment.
🥹Aww, sonic 2, resident evil 1, and this, were my top games for the Saturn. I remember being 3 years old playing and watching my dad and my cousins struggle with this non-stop. Took us about 3 years to complete. Easily one of the toughest and memorable game on the system, thanks for bringing me and your viewers a glimpse to our simple yet magical past ❤😊
Ah when Ubi Soft wasn’t as greedy, and you actually OWN your game you just bought. Still a legendary platformer, if ever re - released, I’d be tempted to buy it on modern consoles, but I think I’m better off with my PS1 copy.
The graphics of Hullabaloo and the final boss fight, the red glow around the stain glass windows are really amazing even for the saturn console, no wonder Rayman Redemption add those back...
I like this art style. Something I miss from modern high-end graphics games is an art style. They look real, but there's no style. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Hogwarts Legacy look like they could take place in the same universe.
This game was HARD back in the day. Did used Gameshark to beat the game but it wasn't easy, to say the least. Didn't even know there was a Jaguar edition of the game. I'll have to find it later & see if you're right on that version being toned down a little bit on difficulty.

Are you sure they’re 'mostly the same'? Looks pretty different to me. Okay, maybe not the game itself, but i’m still seeing some big differences.
@darobster5520 can u point it out?

First console I got as a kid was ps and this came with it. Best Christmas that was!

Just stop playing. The games are redundant and repetitive nowadays anyway.
Remake the game as 3D platformer for 2025
Ubi Soft made 3 awesome Rayman games 1-3 and 2 meh ones Origins and Legends

This game might look fun and happy but it kicked my ass decades ago.
This was the only game that gave me good feelings when i was a kid..

I have this game too, but I only have just the PS1 version though.
The best HD

This is the only Rayman Game to be made in Sega Saturn!
It made me remember of the snes prototype
The music in this game was so good, shame it got ruined and overshadowed by rabbits >.>
Can you do a longplay of Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party on LongplayArchive?
Not anytime soon sorry

The sounds and visuals are really nice. However the difficulty makes me wonder if this game was meant to be played and not some school project.
Ubi Soft used to care about gameplay quality back then now they don't 😂
Amo ese juego 😊
2:28:40 Ubi Soft why didn't put the window smashing scene in PS1 version as it could handle it.
I have 7 RayMan games
Is this PAL or NTSC😮
Isn't the Sony PlayStation version considered better 😮
