    The swing, the power and the atypical way you can play four to the floor and still be metal as f#ck!
    Clive was a genius in his art! Brilliant track!

    I used to know Clive. I fondly remember the time when he was tapping the drum beats of this song on my kitchen table - whilst his then wife Kathy was cutting my hair.

    3:47, very precise triplets playing unisons with both hand (left: snare, right: floor tom)...outstanding Clive's drumming!

      @Cpt_Guirk ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I use to cheat there with just alternate sticking snare hits and bass drum on 4's. Clive never cheated. That was the secret sauce. Nicko is great but cheated from time to time with broken hand patterns. I put Clive above him for that reason and the way he accented offbeats.

    Probably the most Melodic of the Top Drummers, some nice quirky beats in there and lots of dynamics.
    Clive is one of my top five, he's in there with Peart and Palmer and a few that rotate in and out.

    Wow. Hearing the drum track isolated really brings out stuff you might otherwise miss. It is really tight but has some real swing. Clive was a lot different to a lot of metal drummers at the time. I think he gave Maiden a different edge

      To follow Steves envision was the core of Iron Maiden. Unfortunately Clive was hung over all the time hence Nicko young gun and most importantly could fulfill Steves bass style and move on. I live Clive btw❤. Every person in life has a purpose then move on to find that purpose. ...

    See the different sizes of the wave forms, particularly on the kick. That's an example of why a drum program will never substitute the subtle inconsistencies of human element.
    Clive was a master in his field.

    I'm not a drummer or any other musician. But I have to say, I love this song when Clive plays it. But all the magic is gone when Nicko plays it. I don't know why it is, but Clive has so much more passion and a specific groove that Nicko never achieved. I also like the songs with Nicko, without a doubt. But Cilve was somehow special, even I, as a non-musician, can hear that.

    Clive enhanced slightly what the brilliant Doug Sampson had laid down and formed a couple of years before. Would loved to have seen heard what Doug would have given to Maiden, I suspect he would have still been there now had his health not let him down.
