Today marks a new day of fishing in a new heavy cover pond. I am just waiting for the gate to open. Where there is cover there are huge monsters to be caught.

I’m walking that Catwalk and popping that Vega all day!! Last weekend at Bull Shoals used that 1 2 punch and caught about 25 fish in 2 days and swing and missed plenty more.

Unfortunately that probably won't happen until late October the way our Temps are going in Phoenix! (It was like 65-75 straight days of 110+ degrees. The fish just don't like coming up when it is that warm.

I throw my topwater on 50lb braid. If you want to throw topwater and subsurface baits on the same setup, consider monofilament. I don’t use it much but it’s an excellent all around option. 14 to 17lb mono will do most everything. 20-25 for heavier swimbaits. Different techniques call for different line specifications. That’s just part of the game.
