Absolutely love this. Today I graduated college. At 27 I became a widow and became a single mom to a special needs child. I was so angry at God but he never once gave up on me. 5 years later I married a wonderful Christian man, God blessed me with another child and I graduated college. God never gave up on me. He won't give up on you either. He did all those things for a reason. I could not see or understand why God chose me to go through those things but today I see it clearly. I would not be a social worker advocating for children like my daughter.

Ive been reading through these comments and I see mixed responses. Some people are loving the rendition, some are questioning its "holiness". To those people I ask this: What about this song makes it unfit to use for worshipping God? The reasoning I'm seeing from some is that its a secular song by origin. While that's true, how does that make it unworshipful? What WorshipMob did, they heard the words, but they didn't hear some guy/girl singing about leaving someone. They heard a cry that has been a thought on their and our minds more than once. They heard those words and heard the doubt and confusion we sometimes harbor towards God. Heck I'm a worship leader, and sometimes I have doubt; I'm not proud of it, but its going to happen. We all doubt. So when they heard this, they showed us the response that God has for us when we feel these things. Our God will never leave nor forsake us, He will never fail us and he will always be there right beside us backing us up on the journey called life! The second half of this song, it's the way we need to see God. It's not just recycling a melody for a song secular by origin. God doesn't care if we use music like this to worship, because worship is worship! And it's not just confined to music, but is how we live our life! I hope some of my brothers and sisters in Christ who dislike this rendition only because the original wasn't intended for worship reconsider their view on this. I love this song, and I love the musicianship of this group! God has blessed all of you with unending talent! I hope to be a part of what you guys do one day

I agree with you 100% , and thank you , I couldn't have said it any better . God will use anyone and anything he chooses ...they made this song mean something totally different, totally new ...I'm so impressed and blessed by this song . I heard other Christian groups do this to other *secular * songs ...I loved them too . I love anything that glorifies my lord Jesus !

I agree with you Braden Music, as a young Christian sometimes I feel like I have been doing what I'm supposed to be doing, reading my bible, praying to God, living by example but keep hitting walls. People sometimes want to battle with me about my faith and it seems like every day is hard and you sometimes want to ask, "Where are you God, why don't you speak to me, what am I doing wrong " and sometimes even question if God is listening. That is what I hear in the early part of this song. And the answer is abundantly clear, he's always been there, even before we cried out to him, before our weakest moment, before we were even born. He has always been there and always will be! Wonderful rendition of this song.

    "Say Something"
Say something I'm giving up on you
I'll be the one if you want me to
Anywhere I would have followed you
Say something I'm giving up on you
And I, I'm feeling so small
    It was over my head
    And I'm nothing at all
And I, will stumble and fall
    I'm still learning to love
    Just starting to crawl
Say something I'm giving up on you
I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
Anywhere I would have followed you
Say something I'm giving up on you
    I will swallow my pride
You're the one that I love,
    and I'm saying goodbye
Say something I'm giving up on you
I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
Anywhere I would have followed you
Say something I'm giving up on you
Say something I'm giving up on you
    Say something...
    Joshua 1:9
    Matthew 11:28-29
    Romans 8:14-15
    Psalm 2:7
    Luke 15:18-24
I am a good Father, I know you and I promise, you can hear my voice. The world is so noisy, sometimes you have trouble finding My voice in the crowd and the commotion of life. But if you would let Me quite your heart, My voice will reach you. I will cut through the loudness, the tremendous volume and the great racket the world keeps clamouring around with. I am the gentle whisper inside you. Can you hear Me? Can you hear My constant love beating inside you as close as the hear beating in your chest? I am here. Settle your heart, rest in My love and hear Me calling to you. I am calling your name.
    I've been watching you child
    Still learning to love
    Just starting to crawl
And I am waiting here now
    Will you open your heart
    I've been here all along
You say "I'm not giving up on you!"
You say "I'm still running after you!
Everywhere, I've been there with you!
Child, I will never give up on you!"
    (x2)
Child, I will never give up on you.
Child, I have given my heart to you.
Child, I have given my heart to you.
Child, I will never give up on you.

i like this. We do not have enough songs that are laments/anger songs.
If you read the psalms (Israel's hymnal) there are many psalms that echo the feeling of "God where are you?" of frustration and longing and sadness.
using this song in this way is brilliant.

Couldn't have said it better myself. David poured out his heart in a way that would definitely be frowned upon in today's churches.. but he was a man hungry for the voice and the heart of God.

I've always loved this song... but hearing you guys do it - in a worship context its taken a completely new meaning. There have been many seasons when I could not hear from God, when I could not see him anymore... and I was praying that He would just talk to me. Just saying something... Human faith is weak. We WILL give up on God many times. We will lose sight of him many times.
The wonderful truth in this song is this: whether we hear him or not, whether we feel him or not -- he is ever pursuing us. He is strong enough to hold us even when all our strength and resolve is gone.

WOW. I've read the comments, but I watched it for myself and it brought me to tears. This video is what so many people feel on a daily basis. They are questioning God, feeling alone, saying God where are you? I don't hear you? Then you introduce them to scripture, and lead them to the question they are yearning to know in their hearts. I'm a firm believer in God, but also that we have to meet people where they are. You just did that with this video. Amazing. You've got a new fan here.

    Sounds a lot like this:
Psa 13:1-6 (A psalm by David for the music leader.) How much longer, LORD, will you forget about me? Will it be forever? How long will you hide? (2) How long must I be confused and miserable all day? How long will my enemies keep beating me down? (3) Please listen, LORD God, and answer my prayers. Make my eyes sparkle again, or else I will fall into the sleep of death. (4) My enemies will say, "Now we've won!" They will be greatly pleased when I am defeated. (5) I trust your love, and I feel like celebrating because you rescued me. (6) You have been good to me, LORD, and I will sing about you.
    (Contemporary English Version)

The first time I heard this song I was in a dark place. I was feeling so alone and away from God, I don't even know how it got onto my play list. One minute I was sad and angry, next minute I felt understood because I was really giving up on God. Then the next part of the song completely changed me. I felt like this song was made specifically for me.
I had never heard the original, for me this was the original, and God used it to save me that day.

i think there are times that people were so problematic and they are questioning God what's happening in their lives. That's why, on this song, i see it as people who were burdened and giving up on God. But then, God is always there. He never left. He is faithful. He hear our cries. He loves. :)

This song would be perfect for capturing David/Solomon's despair when they sinned before God... and all the while the Holy Spirit is reaching out to them =')
As for mixing secular songs and worship songs, I say : If you find $50 and $100 lying on the street side by side which do you pick up? If you said "Both." then have no complaints, but praise God that we have additional tools to use to reach out... sure, isolating ourselves in our safe christian bubble might please the religious spirit in us, "dont touch me, lest u defile me" attitude.. but it will make us completely ineffective as God's ambassadors..
For every sad secular song, there is a cry out for the Father deep inside..

I love what you said here....This whole comment thread is awesome. It is showing that there ARE other ways of coming to Christ, to the others who have no understanding of what the whole point of this song is about.... And really, is it about the "Song"? Why is it that they have to judge these ppl? They are helping ppl that are lost. Hey....If it takes a secular song, turned around by GOD, to reach out to the lost? Then, GO FOR IT..... WorshipMob, yall are amazing, and I am soooo .....WoW. There are no words how I feel right now. And many of us on this thread feel the same way, Im sure lol.

For those who seem not to understand... this song begins in a soliloquy fashion with the completely honest thoughts of someone's heart in regard to a relationship. Though I can't say I've ever "given up on God" in my relationship with Him- I will have to admit there have been several times when I just wanted to hear Him speak to me and agonized over it when it "seemed" He was silent. Part of a young, growing relationship with God is discovering "how to listen" and "how to hear" from God. God is BIG enough for us to voice our frustrations to him. That was one of the first lessons He taught me; that he didn't need me to try and be something/someone I was not- to try and speak just the "right" words in just the "right" way. Rather, He wanted to hear from my heart, just exactly how I felt, exactly where I was in that moment, what were my frustrations, confusion, and all without a filter of something someone else might consider "proper" or "spiritual." In other words, He just wanted to hear "from me." And it was in THAT place where I finally began to learn to actually "hear His voice." For me, I began writing a poem expressing those frustrations and in no uncertain terms. At then end of my words..., His began. He finished the poem by speaking to my heart the words I actually needed to hear from Him at that moment. This song does much the same in the end, in multiple ways to show how God is always there, ready, and willing to speak to us. This song is "raw" and it is real. It is where so many, both Christian and otherwise find themselves today in a world so much in need of God's intervention. If I can't deal with that, how can I be an effective witness of Christ's love, grace, compassion and Truth? This generation is the greatest of all challenges for us who know God to reach. Yet that is the commission He has given us. It isn't about compromise, the dissolution or watering down of the truth of God's Word. It is about reaching people where they are, "hearing" them with God's ear, and finding a way to reach them with His Love. I don't have to take one step back in my faith to do that. On the contrary, my faith is challenged to grow. It isn't about "secular" vs someone's idea of what is "spiritual." It is about being real. God is real. And He meets us all right where we are. The anointing is wherever His Spirit is and upon whatever His Spirit chooses to utilize to perform that ministry, task, work that is needed in a person's life. This song becomes "worship" as does those moments in our lives when God comes in and turns our questions into revelations of Who He really is: a loving God and compassionate Father.

  • @PeterJohnJnb

At first, I was thinking.....not sure what I feel about this, I mean, what if the writers of the song didn't intend for it to be used for this purpose, how does that seem "right"? I still don't know how I feel about that, however, then it dawned on me...that's kind of the point of music right, to mean different things to different people. I am not a Christian but after listening the whole song through, I get it. Very nicely done and it just shows how transient and fluid music can be. Very clever. :-)

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love.
Been there. Done that. Ran so far away that I ran right back into His arms.
If more people realized that God is big enough to handle our disbelief (didn't come as any shock to Him) maybe the enemy wouldn't tempt so many to despair and take their own lives.
It wasn't until I went through the darkest part of my life, when I felt He had forsaken me, that I realized I ought not trust my *feelings*.
After He restored me, I realized He not only was the closest to me, He was actually holding me in His arms.
    (much like the *Footprints* poem)
When I am back to doubting again, I run back to Him and sometimes all I can pray is
" LORD, I don't know You well enough to KNOW, REALLY KNOW that YOU are ALL I need. "

We can argue all day about if this is appropriate, but if just one persons life is touched by this rendition, would you argue with them? Cause you'd be arguing with me :) Jesus hung out with drunks, prostitutes, tax collectors, etc... he took what was broken and turned it into beauty. Secular music is the broken, hurting soundtrack of the world. Worship Mob took that soundtrack and gave the broken and hurting a NEW soundtrack. The Sound of truth, the sound of unconditional love. I have been watching youtube for years, and I have never seen more arguing than between two Christians. Why is this? Its because we don't see that were all in the same boat- we were ALL lost. So lets put down our stones, lift up our hands and do what we were made to do .... WORSHIP HIM!

I have known and serve The Lord now for over 40 years. I am a product of "The Jesus Movement" of the 1970s and experienced the power of God's transformation as a teen. I am having a difficult time understanding where modern worship is headed to. By headed to, I am implying that everything of God should follow a direct line to glorifying Christ and leading others to salvation and an unshaken devotion to Him and away from the flesh and the world. I would not dare judge, for Christ is the only judge of his church. But sometimes I am reminded of Paul's words in 2 Timothy chapter 3 when describing the last days he says: "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (v7). It seems to me that worship has become a "mode" of the Christian faith as opposed to a "model" of commitment to loving Christ, his church and others as ourselves and to obeying His every command in every step in our lives, in thought, speech, word and conduct. I seldom hear Jesus mentioned in worship anymore, he is replaced by the words "You" or "He," pronouns that can apply to anyone.
I am not sure how this secular song fits into true Christ worship, it's known what the writer intended and I think it would be better served for what it is, a secular love song. Back when I devoted my life to Christ, we would take secular songs and put Christian words to them, mainly because there was not yet much contemporary Christian music available. But today there is an overabundance of it, and this might perhaps be one of the problems, there's an attempt to sell worship when it cannot be bought, sold or woven into the secular fabric. We are trying to take worship into the world where it doesn't belong.
I am wondering if we need a new Jesus movement.

I think WorshipMob has done precisely what the Apostle Paul did at Mars Hill. He took classical Greek pagan ideas and even poetry (songs) and subverted them to point the men of Athens to Christ. If even one person stumbles across this song looking for the original and hears the scripture and the new words, the song will have been redeemed for the kingdom.
We are indeed blessed by an (over?)abundance of original Christian music, but it's also good to pay attention to what's going on in our culture to give us a point of engagement - just as Paul did. We have to recognize universal human longing for beauty, connection, meaning, and purpose, as expressed in "secular" art. But we should also take that crucial step of giving The Answer to those longings: Jesus Christ. Awesome job, WorshipMob!

I respect what you say and agree that one soul is worth all the effort. But remember that Paul walked away from the Athenians and never returned, not a single church was established there and there is no mention of the fate of the few who believed.
After the Mars hill message Paul went to Corinth and later wrote about the incident in 1 Corinthians 2:1 "When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power."
These things are written in God's word for all generations including ours.

    • @DavidWesley
      @DavidWesley 10 ปีที่แล้ว

Paul's success is not measured by numbers, but by his faithfulness in using all means available that some might be saved. Seeds were planted in Athens. As a center of thought, who knows how Paul's ideas spread? I can tell you that there aren't a whole lot of worshippers of the Olympian gods!

    • @marathonlifeH121
      @marathonlifeH121 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The reason for that is the principle of the scripture I mentioned throughout his ministry, not his speech in Athens. It's clear that Athens was a revelation for Paul that the power of the gospel rests in the cross, not persuasion. No matter what the means, in the end it must lead to Christ and Him crucified, I believe if we loose sight of that we will see conformity and not transformation. Although we disagree on this brother David, I pray that God will continue to use you, I enjoy your worship.

Unfortunately, there's no "Christ-and-Him-crucified" book of melodies to choose from. I'm thankful for the freedom to wrap that one message in many forms - but this conversation did inspire me to write a song. I just have to write the chorus down before I forget...

God never leaves our side. That's what I take from the song. He continuously calls and runs after us. Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. To be apart of a forever family knowing no end. He is my peace.

Sometimes it is only when people lose faith in everything else..and in their own abilities that they realize they can do nothing without Him. That is sometimes the moment where the walls of our heart open enough to let Him love us. The song is beautiful because it shows real passion, from real people..who may not always have the right answers. Sometimes there are no answers, but just His Presence. Sometimes the only strength we have is just from knowing He is "I Am". It is when we are so desperate for one touch, one Word from Him...that we will forsake anything and push through any crowd to get to Him. It does not matter if you have known Him your entire life..or have never really heard His voice at all. He is still there waiting.

When I am at the end of myself in a given situation, this song always comes to my mind of humanities thoughts when they are being tested by their faith to still believe AND REALIZE THE TRUTH that HE IS GOD ALONE. He is always making a way and working behind the scenes. All We need to do is stay in The REST!

I just wanted to say that we are all redeemed and we have all come short of the glory of God but also redemption is what Christ is all about. He came to make things new even a secular song can be redeemed for his purpose. He is the God of ALL things and he can and will reach us through anything because he is always trying to seek us out. I love this song because I have been there wondering where God is, and this song really captured how it feels to wait to hear his voice and only feel silence but in our stillness and our waiting on him and our giving up to rely on him we will hear him. Thank you so much for listing to God and doing what he says you guys are a blessing to me and many many others.

Sometimes in our walk with the Lord we want to give up. And sometimes God sits back and waits to see how desperate we are to pursue Him during our trails and testing times. The way they are singing this song and conveying the words is a person that is in the brim of giving up...so God speaks back to the person stating what they just said and how He has been there all the time. God's love is unconditional, irrevocable and never ending. Thank you Jesus!

At the beginning the song threw me off and I question the purpose but then I said to myself: "I have said this words so many times to God". Even thought He was so close to me I felt He was very far away. When we face difficult times it is hard to hear the voice of God so this song just gave me a new meaning. I understand that no matter what I express to God in those moments of desperation or doubt He will never leave me nor He will forsake me. Thank you for letting the spirit guide you to record this song. I know God will open a lot of people's hearts. I pray He does!

It is good to know that we are sons and daughters of a Father who loves us. And no matter what we have done or will do that will never change. We may give up on ourselves, but He will never give up on us. Our loves may grow weary for Him, but His love is deeper and wider, and never grows weary. As we enter into this Holy Week and remember what the Son of God did for us, let us never forget that one of the huge things Jesus did was to open the door for us to be true sons and daughters so that we could live out of that identity instead of remaining in slavery to sin, death, and satan.

In all humility, I didn't even know this was a secular song, but I'm in agreement with the brother who rightly spoke that John and Charles Wesley wrote hymns to bar tunes to reach the lost. Pharisees got upset with Jesus "for eating with tax collectors and sinners," Matthew 9:9-13. Brothers and sisters, let us follow Him Who took on flesh and walked among us to reconcile us to the Father...a Father Who loved the world so much He sent His Son into the world not to condemn the world but so that the world might be saved through Him (John 3:16-17). Shalom!

    I never really knew you
    You were our creator
But when I got to know you,
    I let my heart unbend.
    I couldn’t help past memories
that would only make me cry
I had to forget my first love
    and give love another try
So I’ve fallen in love with you
and I’ll never let you go
I love you more than anyone
I just had to let you know
    And you know that
    the lord Jesus Christ 🙏
But I’ll never stop loving you
    each and every day
My feelings for you will never change
Just know my feelings are true
    Just remember one thing
    I Love You
