Used to work on a rat farm. The farm owners would kill the rats that were sick or had strokes, I took as many of them as I could home and fixed them up, made them better. I started with about 40 of them, but after some unintended breeding incidents between the males and females, 7 litters later, I have roughly 100 of them separated into 3 colonies. Have pretty much every kind of rat under the sun, I even had a minx, but she unfortunately died early as minxs commonly do. Guess you could say that my rats will never go without companionship lol. They love sleeping together, so I will often times find up to 15 of them stacked on top of one another in one of their hammocks and it's the funniest thing. They are such underrated pets.
+Dressy Seagull There's this little thing called 'moderation'... That's an awful lot to take care of all at once. I don't mean to be rude or anything but hoarding is a thing... It's great that you helped them out though, but perhaps you should rehome some, if you haven't already? I suppose if they're all well taken care of and loved that it's none of my concern, though. So... hey. If you're able to handle that many at once, more power to you, I guess? It just sounds like a shocking amount to an outsider looking in!
It had nothing to do with hoarding, my predicament is a little more unique than one might think. The owners of the farm I worked at would grab the sick rats by their tails and wack them off of doors to kill them. That, or they would gas them in containers with high amounts of CO2, which is extremely inhumane because high concentrations of CO2 will burn and irritate their lungs before they suffocate. If they weren't sick, often times they would die anyway because escaped rats would chew out their water lines and drown them, sometimes they would die of hypothermia, or even kill each other because of the overcrowded conditions. Few people know what it is like to have to dispose of dozens of cold, mangled corpses knowing that they used to be curious, innocent creatures. This is pretty common, often times farms don't treat their livestock with the dignity and respect they deserve. This is one of the evils of humanity. I felt it was my moral obligation as a human to take as many as possible, leave, and give them a better home. I understand how it could look to outsiders at first glance and appreciate your concern for their well being, I'm positive you are a very responsible and loving pet owner, but if you had seen the things I had you might have done the same. I did manage to re-home some of them, but finding homes for so many of them is an undertaking I've been unable to do. I'm stuck with my rats for the next few years, but I see it as a blessing and opportunity to do good more than a condemnation. They are well cared for and have everything they need to live comfortable lives.
Dressy Seagull I'm so sorry to hear that. I can understand where you're coming from. It's good that they're all well taken care of and such now, though. You sound like a real sweetheart for doing what you're doing. I commend your efforts. :)
Dressy Seagull I am so glad that you were kind enough to save so many. I wish there were more people like you in this world, and a whole lot less of the people like that rat farm owner. 🐀❤️
I understand the phobia. My phobia is off dead things. I can handle live rats, snakes or spiders just fine. A dead one will frank me out. My whole body tenses up. It's so jarring! Rats are the most loving of the rodents. A hamster with bite more often. Other rodents will kill each other's babies. A mother Rat will often take care of any babies. Even other species. They love their owners and they can even learn tricks like dogs. ♥️ I hope someday you overcome your fear of them
Omg!!! XD you're SUCH a great help!! You see I always hated rats, and when my cousins got a few I was (can't believe I felt this....DX) ABSOLUTELY disgusted. But I never met them, judgmental of me right? Like wtf??? Well I was paying class dues to the Student Advisor a few days ago and a saw 2 of them and I stayed away until she threatened to not give me my receipt until I have at least met them. Not only did I get my receipt, I got to pet, play, and hold them. It was such a shocker that they were so amazing that now I want one of my own, BUT I need to do my research! XD my mom already said no but my mom loves people that are educated and have answers to her 1000+ questions. XD I will work hard on my research, and hopefully, convince my mom in allowing me to get one. Again, THANK YOU, every bit of information counts!!!
I'm just trying to let her know not the person it looks like I'm responding to that my rat has brown all over but the end of her tail is white and so is a strip on her stomach.Do you know what type of rat she is?
Hey, it took me 3 years to finally get my rats, after talking my mom's head off XD I just told her the facts! They're called Mini Dogs, not just because of their loyalty, but because of how hard of work it is. I told her rats are cleaner than cats and dogs, and smarter than most dogs, too! They spend most of their times cleaning themselves and keeping their ginormous cages clean, and most are much nicer than mice and hamsters, depending on their background. I hope I'm not too late for you to read this!
Cleanest and cheapest pets I've ever owned. Up against. Dogs. Cats. Rabbits. Guinea pigs. And birds. Rats have been the cheapest and easiest pet to look after! Hope this helps, and hope you can get past your mum's 1000 questions. 😜
I can't believe you didn't mention the Husky marking or Siamese! Those are very common and distinct, moreso than the slight differences between Irish for example.
+Eccetra Well excuse me for forgetting two markings, I had a lot of markings and colours to include in this video so it's easy to forget a couple okay. Just be thankful that I did include the rest of the common colours.
Goodness!! Why do you do this to me??!! Every time I watch your adorable videos on the rats I just want to go and get some!!!! Lol !! Such an informative video I don't know to much on rats apart from you teaching me so much from your videos haha was a great video to watch and thanks for sharing!!!❤️❤️
Aha good, my little plan is working hehe ;) Thank you, hehe well thats the plan I love to educate people about rats as there are so many people like you who don't know about them, I hope one day I will be a channel where people can come to all the time for not only hamster but rat advice too! :) I am so glad you are learning from my rat videos and thank you for giving rats a chance and for watching my rat videos, not many people are so interested in rats so thank you!
Ikr I had four but my two oldest passed away a few months ago💔 I still have two belle and jazmin sadly they miss my oldest ones I myself am also sad but I’m over it I am happy they are not suffering anymore
My mum told me I have can them when I moved out. I moved out into the garage in our new home and said I've moved out. She said that's not what I meant. I laughed and said it's good enough. Please? I'm 25. (Disabled by chronic pain- mum's my full time carer) she said fine. As long as i don't have to go near them. She came with me to get them, and even fed them whilst I away for a couple weeks at a friend's. They must be growing on her somehow. She doesn't want to admit it. 😂 also, been asking for 10 years. So about time! 😜 got them 3 months ago. 😍
Very informative! I used to have smooth haired hooded rats. Very sweet, intelligent, and clean pets. They used to have the run of the house and they'd go into their cage to use the restroom. One of my dogs wouldn't mind if they crawled up his legs and ride on his back. Big Doberman with rats riding on him! When I retire and spend more time at home I'd like to have rats again. Great little critters!
+Agent Fungus Thank you! Yes exactly they are, aw sounds like your rats had a great life wit you. Thats sweet, wow for a doberman to get along with rats, thats quite incredible. Thats great, I hope to have more in future too but a lot sooner than I retire haha!
PEACHY PETPARADISE : Domestic rats are wonderful. I come into contact, even with my animal loving friends, that get freaked out about snakes and rats. Something about the long tail and slithery bodies. One of these days, I hope to fully retire and educate people about how domestic rats are sweet, gentle, and very smart critters. Keep up the good work with your videos. I wonder how hamsters are always considered cute and rats are not. Hamsters are cute dimwits compared to rats.
Agent hamsters were never intended to be "pets" they are not suited to captivity and are completely miserable not free. That's why they go crazy trying to break out. its heart wrenching to know they run 2-5 miles anight in the wild and are forced to live it captivity is just too cruel for words. Rattielove is the best
Oh thank you! I've learned so much from this video! Not many vides out there about rats! If it wasn't for my visits to the rescue, I would still have all the typical stereotypes on rats...but now, and with your channel too, I have a great perspective on them!!! Loved this video! I truly enjoy all your videos!!! Hugs from me and the girls!
Omg I did not see this comment, only just now aha! Anyway thank you! No hehe, awww thanks! Glad you loved it and learnt from it! More rat videos to come soon hehe! Hugs from me and the peachy family!
Good to know that others in the world are interrested in rats. I cant have a rat because I have no good place in my home to put the cage. And because i have a cat.
+Idunn Rønningen Aside from not having a good place in your home to have one, it's actually okay to have rats when you own a cat or several. It's key to find out if your cat is highly predatory or not. ALL cats are predators, obviously, and it's a hard wired instinct to hunt, however some people's cats are just genuinely laid back and get along great with the rats. Some are even afraid of the rats, because unlike mice, they move a bit slower and tend to be considered less as prey. However, NEVER leave them unsupervised around your cat(s) and always make sure that your feline companions can't get their paws into your rat's cage. Other than that, they tend to live harmoniously together, so long as your cat isn't a highly hunting-driven type. Hope this helps, if ever you live somewhere you can actually get some ratties! :)
I have two cats, yet I also HAD three rats. I have two now because of the horrible living condition Petco's breeders care for them. Basically they live in small bins, packed with tons of rats. When one rat dies, they are aloud to do this...EAT THE DEAD RAT!!! Some are so hungry that they eat the weakest rat ALIVE! How dare they! >:[
If you have enough hides in the cage, then the cats won't be an issue. You could introduce the cats to the ratless cage so they're uninterested in it. Whenever the rats see the cat, they can just hide & the cat can't harass them.
Really nice and informative video:) I think its important to talk about how cruel some of the breeds are... Rats with no tail have a really hard time keeping there balance and climbing... Rats with no fur tend to have bone problems, are really sensitive to temperature changes and tend to get sick allot easier... Rex also have curled whiskers which makes them lose orientation The worst is the rubble rex Please don't support cruel breeding and research before getting a certain breed 💛🌻
Well I got some new rats but I thought I would share everyone now (I got 2 new males, bumping my amount of rats up to 10!) 1. Riley- a dumbo Russian blue (it's a dark blue) blazed hooded 2. Micah- a red eye Himalayan standard ear 3. Kestrel- standard ear black hooded Rex 4. Nova- brown eyed Berkshire double Rex dumbo 5. Jetta- hairless red eyed dumbo 6. Avicci- an odd eye dove (black and red eyes) patched Dalmatian dumbo 7. Eevee- a dove patched ruby eyes dumbo 8. Nixie- black English Irish dumbo 9. Unamed- American blue (light shade of blue) Rex dumbo 10. Unamed- black eyed white, standard ear rex Those are all my babies and their markings colors and types :) great video!
i have 4: 1. mocha- standard size, smooth fur, ruby eyed, champagne hooded 2. bean- standard size smooth fur albino 3. cola- standard size rex fur berkshire, black eyed 4. poppet- standard size smooth furred, black eyed, black hooded also a nod to my dead girly- shadow: standard size smooth furred, black eyed, chocolate hooded
One of my boys was champagne hooded! He had ruby-eyes and a white flash on his head! We used to parallax dance a lot, so he was super-blind, but his defence-mechanism was that he grew to an ENORMOUS size! He was such a great lil guy. Currently just got a pair of females yesterday and I'm trying to identify one of them, has a blue/grey solid-coloured coat. Thanks for the knowledge!
I had a mostly black rat named Vincent and he had the most adorable white belly, pink tail, ears, nose, and feet and brown eyes. he lived to be 3 years old and was my best friend. he was so calm and never bit and just wanted to snuggle and groom you. Best pet I've ever had. Rats are amazing and should be more common since they are more hygenic, friendly, and interactive than most hamsters. Hamsters will bite your kids, rats are too sweet to even think of it! My mother was very unhappy when I brought him home but ended up absolutely loving him after spending time with him. I think everyone would love pet rats if they gave them the chance
I have 3 girls. One is blue hooded with dumbo ears, a blue berkshire with BIG standard ears, and my favourite girl, a black/agouti irish with dumbo ears, her fur is softer and fluffier than the others.. maybe she is partial rex? I have allergies so I bath them at least once a week. :) They hate it but they are sooooo soft and silky.
Hi! I have a question... The rats in the classroom, one of them is a hooded and im not too sure what the other is because you didn't mention it. She has a grey head and a white body. What kind is this? Thanks
She sounds like a blue hooded or broken hooded, does she have a grey line going down her back or a line cut off from her head or just a full white body with the grey head? :)
Awesome video! I learned how much i don't know about them. I've had 80 or more and still don't understand all the types. All i know is they are such Awesome pets and you got a subscriber. Thank you.
I have a rat that has a mask very similar to the varigated but no other markings on her body, would that still be considered a varrigated even though she doesn’t have marks on her body?
I have a self-rat which is a dumbo, funny thing is when I turn around and turn around to look back at them, they moved the hide already lol. Im not sure about the yellow rat though
I bought 2 top eared ruby eyed - a male and female both what I call a caramel colour but is this what you refer to as beige. Male is all caramel but the female is all white with a caramel hoody so i called her Hoody. Called the male Kane as in cane as in sugar cane heated gives a caramel colour. I can see why they are called ruby eyed but mine are more like the colour of blood..
She sounds like a fawn hooded or beige hooded, yes the ruby eyes can differ, some can be more red looking and others can be light to medium, its a range of red and pink shades in their eyes.
PEACHY PETPARADISE ok thanks. Although I prefer fawn or caramel - beige sounds so 70`s or 80`s ( LOL ) but I know what you mean. The red eyes look really cool - all my other rats have had black eyes so far. CHEERS
Im getting a what I believe is a blue hooded rex. He has an all blue head and blue spots going down his back. (Im getting 3 black birshires too. Ones a dumbo).
Idunn Rønningen - Of course, if you are interested in rats and want to find out more, then you have come to the right place. Aw thats a shame, well there is always the future, maybe you could have some then :)
Um peachy my rat pebbles has a grey saddle like colour across his Back which goes down to his tail and eyes. What is this one called? Is it called saddle? I will video them and put them on TH-cam and if you want if you could check the video out and tell me what u think about my rats and the cage then that would be very helpful! Thanks!
It sounds like a blue hooded, does the grey cover his whole face or just the eyes? Most likely you have a blue hooded. You can make a video if you like :)
I have three boys one sold black the other a broken hooded like almost white blonde and then my other boy is somewhat a broken hooded he has white under his chin and a little spot in the middle of his head and he has to patches and speckles going down his back. What would he be called?
I have a rat named Nyx and she looks like a Verrigated but instead of her having patches on the back its one black line.... the veriggated rat looked the closest to what she looks like but im not sure if thats what she is
There are only a few differences which is they are obviously smaller in size and this means the bar spacing must be even smaller than for a standard rat, so half of what spacing should be, so half an inch. They are very active most of the time too :)
I watched this video hoping you would say what color Honey is! Honey is the most gorgeous rat I have ever seen and would love to know what the color/markings are!
Aha Honey is not a rat, she is a hamster which is why she was not included in this rat video ;) Yes hehe she is the most gorgeous color, her Syrian coloring is black eyed on cream. She started off a pale golden, so almost a cream and then she grew into a beautiful honey golden color! :)
Our boys our Dumbo rats but the cream colored one I don't know what you would call his color type.. he has brown eyes until you shine a light near them, then they turn kinda red looking.. but I take that he can't see well because when he is looking at something he will sway his head from side to side like he is trying to focus.. also they're apparently done growing and they aren't very big at all.. Weasel is the one with the grey on his head and he is much bigger than Fattie, the cream one..we named him Fattie because he was a little butter ball when they was babies but Weasel out grew him fast in length and weight.. now Weasel is the little fatty, they may be dwarfs I'm not sure.. they're very soft and smaller
Rats have poor eye sight in general anyway and swaying their heads from side to side is normal :) As for whether they are dwarfs or not, maybe you could send me some clear photos of them via my gmail which is Peachyspetparadise@gmail.com then I could clarify to you what they are :)
my other one is white albino with a fawn patch on her bum and the rest is white and nose is slightly darker than the rest of the body,i thought she was patched but i just wanted confirmation :) you earned yourself a sub! xx
Martha Stapleton You can't get an albino with a fawn patch. Sounds like Patched yes. But maybe you could send an image of her to my gmail, Peachyspetparadise@gmail.com just so I can see for myself :)
I had several rats as pets as a child. Wonderfully smart and affectionate. They used to ride in my saddle bags when I rode my horse. They loved to go with me
I had a hooded Rat for about 5 yrs until he passed, he was my Buddy, used to ride around on my shoulder and would always give me kisses. One day I checked on him and he seemed so motionless and I thought he had died, and when I gently touched him he jumped up almost scared to death, it took me quite a few minutes to get him calmed down. He would even come when I called his name. He would always wonder what kind of snack I was eating and wanted to sample it himself also. I still miss Sqeaker, when I got him he was the smallest runt out of his siblings. Like I said we had an awesome loving relationship together. And my cats wouldn't even bother him or his siblings because we raised all of them together when they were kittens etc. If I had another chance to get as great of a personality as he had in another pet rat I would surely get him or her.
I'm trying to figure out my rats colors.. One is black but has silver/white hairs at 4 months, and the other ome is darker then a champagne but tot cool toned to be a cinnamon I think, he's more like a gold shade, please help..
Great video with good information. You are right, it would take forever to go over all of the different colors/types/coats etc. Years ago when I was learning all about rats so I could competently take care of one, I was shocked at all the differences. I just found your channel, and I look forward to checking it out. 🐀❤️
Also, I am worried about the rare diseases spread such as rat bite fever since I can only get pet store rats (I haven't heard about the disease until recently) I need help deciding if it is a good idea to buy a rat. They are remarkable pets, and I loved all the rats I had however I don't want to risk disease. Please help me make the right decision.
No pet rats don't carry any disease that can harm us humans. There have been very few cases where a domestic rat has actually carried that. Wild rats are what carry that disease. Honestly there is no risk of you actually getting a harmful disease from pet rats. If thats the only thing you are worried about, then yes you are making the right decision. Just make sure you have done tons of research about them before getting them, they are a lot of work but they are rewarding at the same time if from the right place and given the correct care. Make sure you know all about their care, what essentials they will require, I have videos on that, that might help you but I would defiantly research as much as you can and find out whether they are the right pet for you. And fill free to ask plenty of questions to me, I will reply back as soon as I can :)
Brooke Matthews may I ask where you live? I ask because I am in the US and have had a lot of experience buying pet store rats. I can help you either choosing a better place to get them from or maybe just searching online people who breed them.
I have 2 rats, Chocolate or brown or Norway, one of the three. both male (Loki and Whiskers) and they are about 10 months old. I got them from a neighbor whose rats had a litter so I cant quite pinpoint what species they are.
My new rat has a dark slate blue hood and blaze, but the rest of her back and sides are a very pale blue with white flecks, and then a white belly!! Think she's a mix of different colours and markings!
I got a rat named siren and a rat named willow and willow is hooded with red eyes and siren is patched( she also has a mark like Harry Potter on her fore head) and she has brown or black eyes
May I ask where/who you got your rats from? I've got the cage and everything but I need some rats to go in it! I don't like purchasing them from pet stores but we haven't been able to find a suitable breeder 😭 If you can tell me please do!
***** They were a surprise christmas gift and unfortunately from a pet shop. But I always suggest rescuing or buying from a good well experienced rat breeder. Glad you are aware of pet shops. I would try looking for a rescue, or if there is an adoption section in the pet shops then to try that and see if there are any rats in need of a home :)
PEACHY PETPARADISE Hi! Thank you for replying. I know this is bad but I'm not to keen on rescuing (we've had very bad experiences in the past) and seeing as rats only live around 2 years and most of the rats up for adoption are around 2 years I would rather buy from a breeder! Anyway I will continue my search! Thanks for replying, love your videos by the way they are SO interesting. And you're very pretty! 😘
My sons & I have found that the blue and beige colored rats always seem to be very sweet & gentle. We think that the gentle gene goes along with those colors genes!
Hi Peachy Pet Paradise! I'm considering getting a small animal, but I can't decide between a hamster or a rat. The only problems with hamsters is that they're nocturnal and aren't as affectionate as rats, but they're quite cute. Do you think you can give me some advice on which to choose price wise and also based off animal bonding? Thank you so much :) ~Star
Honestly it really depends on you. The first thing I want to cover is companionship. Hamsters don't actually need companionship and can happily live on their own and species like Syrians and Chinese are a solitary species anyway so they must be alone. However with rats, companionship is vital. Rats are pack animals like wolves and depend on the companionship of their own kind. They can get very lonely, stressed and even depressed without it. Human companionship is never enough to replace to the companionship of a rats and there are things we as humans can not give to rats like rats can and they will never live as much of happy of a life as they would with their own kind. So you must be able to have more than one rat. If you are only allowed on pet o would only like one then I would say a hamster would be more for you. The second thing I want to cover is time, how much time you have during the day as there is a big difference between hamsters and rats with time. Rats are a day time and night time commitment whereas hamsters are mainly a night time commitment. I think if you're currently at school or work long hours and don't have much time during the day then rats may not be the best pet for you. A hamster you could play with at nighttime so it doesn't really matter how long you work during the day but with rats, they can get bored extremely easy and it can lead behavioral problems if left so long by themselves. You need to provide at least 3 hours of playtime and attention to your rats everyday and that can be quite a responsibility for someone who is out most of the time. So I would say if you are hardly at home then rats wouldn't be the best pet for you. But if you are and feel you could provide them with the time that they need then they should be a great pet for you. In terms of of prices, I would say a hamster cage is usually cheaper than a rat cage and supplies in general are a bit cheaper when it comes to hamsters than for rats but you can still own both on a budget and if so, they can be as affordable as each other. But when it comes to vet bills, rats can be very expensive. If you have females then they are prone to tumors and so and vet trips and treatment will be expensive. Hamsters can also be expensive in terms of vet trips but they usually don't require as many vet trips as rats do. Now in terms of personality, both can be just as affectionate. Hamsters are affectionate, I have had many affectionate hamsters who have happily bonded with me and enjoy my company, so you shouldn't be concerned about who would be more affectionate. But if you are wanting a pet that you can do tricks with then rats without a doubt rats would be more for you. They are highly intelligent and are able to learn many complex tricks that you cannot teach hamsters or most other rodents for that matter :) I hope this has given you some insight into both pets, these are just the main important differences but as I said it really depends on you. I hope this helped you decide!
I have an agouti rat in my group that acts very very odd compared to everyone else. He does look just like wild rats but acts the exact opposite, I am worried he may be depressed as he never moves from his hammock night and day unless it's for food and water
He could just be very lazy. You will always get that super energetic one of the group and the laziest one that doesn't want to do much. Has he always been this way? If he went from being more active to not wanting to do much then that could be a health problem, personality changes usually are. But if he has always been like this then it isn't anything you should worry about and he is just naturally lazy. If not and he does seem quite depressed, you could try giving him a treat and see if he budges or acts a little excited. Give him more love, cuddles if he likes them and spoil him more. Hopefully he will cheer up soon :)
my rats are many of these couloirs combined they have a white mask on their head and they are like light grey, dark grey, light brown, dark grown and white all mixed together withe a white patch on their belly like a diamond and they have brown eyes super cute C: mine like the mink & blue
Are satin rats supposed to feel like a paint brush bristle? Because mine does...... hes shiny as hell, but his fur is not what I expected. Can anyone with a legitimate satin rat please tell me if thats normal or not? I have 4 other fur types in my rats, but he has the longest, the shiniest, and the roughest/thickest fur of them all. Its like beard hair.
You can get a Mink Berkshire colour. Either way the have a solid colour on top with a completely white underbelly, usually with white feet and a white tip on the tail :)
You can have black eyed rats, or black eyes rats! Other examples too where the distinctions between types doesn't seem that different. Do these types have different personality or medical etc different? Or what is one suppose to do with information like only common physical looks difference?
Confused on my rat. She and her sister are both dumbo but her sister's (Kora) is black while peanut is a champange with a white belly and a darker beige mask. She has a satin coat (extremely soft and silky) with curly whiskers (sister is soft with curly whiskers too) and has absolutely NO hair on her tail, but the rest of her body has extremely long and soft hair, reminds me of a persian cat's fur. She also has brown eyes, what tyoe of rat do i have? 😭😭
Can you do a video about martens? Google really confuses me, one article says martens can only be silver with red eyes, the other says they are all rats that are dark with red eyes, so I don't understand it, I got two martens yesterday 😁
I am not sure, I have mixed opinions on this cage and I think if I made a video on it, it would get a lot of hate from people who own this cage. I would rather avoid the drama :)
I had some dumbo champagne hoods they were so cute and they were twin girls. (The rest of the litter and the parents were dumbo black broken hoods) they were the only two that were very different so we called them twins idk if they actually were.
Well rats being pack animals do better in groups anyway but they can still happily live as a pair. But another benefit to having three is that if one were to pass before the others, then your remaining two would still have each other and not be alone or need to be bond with a new rat so it also saves you having to bond two rats that don't know each other in future :)
Why would you be getting a wild rat? Pet rats are nothing like wild rats and their fur is more softer for sure, also you would need to get two or more, never one please never keep rats by themselves as they can get very lonely and stressed from it ,they are very social need companionship of their own kind at all times.
All my boys have broken hoods with black eyes, all from the same litter and are practically identical to most (i am starting to be able to notice a difference due to the size of the black line down their backs and the thickness of their tails) their names are Finn, Zac and Noah.
albino(pronounced al-buy-noh) rats, or albinism, is actually a skin/fur condition where they have a lack of pigment in their entire body, which is what causes the pure-white fur & red eyes. these kinds of animals may also have a sensitivity to light & sunburn, along with other skin conditions associated with that. apologies if this sounds rude, i just wanted to elaborate on the albinos a bit!
Dressy Seagull omg that was so nice of you. If I were one of those ratties I would've love my home! That's a great thing you did!!
Dressy Seagull I am so glad that you were kind enough to save so many. I wish there were more people like you in this world, and a whole lot less of the people like that rat farm owner. 🐀❤️
Siamese rats are so cute....
I love those ones too
Hugo Cornellier I have 2 of them
*AWESOME DUMBO RAaaaaTS **th-cam.com/video/jJvcsI-1j-k/w-d-xo.html* 🤗🤗
I also have two Siamese rats. Sam and Dean
Yeah ☺️ I have 2 almost identical ones
I have a rat/mouse phobia (I'm watching this for desensitisation). Even though I am afraid to death of them...the dumbo eared ones are so cute.
They are definitely cute :) I have 2 and I adore them
Watch some videos of rats doing tricks you will probably find them very cute x
I understand the phobia. My phobia is off dead things. I can handle live rats, snakes or spiders just fine. A dead one will frank me out. My whole body tenses up. It's so jarring!
Rats are the most loving of the rodents. A hamster with bite more often. Other rodents will kill each other's babies. A mother Rat will often take care of any babies. Even other species. They love their owners and they can even learn tricks like dogs. ♥️ I hope someday you overcome your fear of them
pfp
There's nothing to be afraid of, as they don't carry diseases and won't bite. At most they'll nibble on your fingers.
You should make a video about the more uncommon types! It would be fun to see
That is something to consider :)
I hope I'm not too late for you to read this!
character development
Cleanest and cheapest pets I've ever owned. Up against. Dogs. Cats. Rabbits. Guinea pigs. And birds. Rats have been the cheapest and easiest pet to look after! Hope this helps, and hope you can get past your mum's 1000 questions. 😜
Hopefully you've got rats by now :)
Video suggestion: what to buy before bringing your rats home. Please it will really help me and a few others
Okay I will put it on my list may do that some time in the future.
I KNOW!! So stinkin cute every last one of them! I got 15 rats right now and still want more!
I know right!
Ikr I had four but my two oldest passed away a few months ago💔 I still have two belle and jazmin sadly they miss my oldest ones I myself am also sad but I’m over it I am happy they are not suffering anymore
I want rats but my mom judges them too much (^_^)
Aw I know the feeling. I hope you can get some one day though :)
мαggιє ωσσz i have the same problem but its a bit different... she has a phobia of rats D: now i will never get a pet rat!!! D: D: D:
yea i guess we can only hope..
SAME she thinks they're disgusting
PEACHY PETPARADISE
: Domestic rats are wonderful.
Idunn My rats climb on my cat XD
Idunn lol have the same problem as you BUT I FUCKIN BOUGHT A RAT AND MAKES IT MY PET.
3:15 ~ These are actually called 'Werewolf' rats now because of this unique ability to lose and regrow fur in symmetrical patterns like that.
Really nice and informative video:)
I think its important to talk about how cruel some of the breeds are...
Rats with no tail have a really hard time keeping there balance and climbing...
Rats with no fur tend to have bone problems, are really sensitive to temperature changes and tend to get sick allot easier...
Rex also have curled whiskers which makes them lose orientation
The worst is the rubble rex
Please don't support cruel breeding and research before getting a certain breed 💛🌻
I love how she says "wats".
Well I got some new rats but I thought I would share everyone now (I got 2 new males, bumping my amount of rats up to 10!)
1. Riley- a dumbo Russian blue (it's a dark blue) blazed hooded
2. Micah- a red eye Himalayan standard ear
3. Kestrel- standard ear black hooded Rex
4. Nova- brown eyed Berkshire double Rex dumbo
5. Jetta- hairless red eyed dumbo
6. Avicci- an odd eye dove (black and red eyes) patched Dalmatian dumbo
7. Eevee- a dove patched ruby eyes dumbo
8. Nixie- black English Irish dumbo
9. Unamed- American blue (light shade of blue) Rex dumbo
10. Unamed- black eyed white, standard ear rex
Those are all my babies and their markings colors and types :) great video!
Aww congratulations! Aha wow wish I had as many as you! Thanks :)
I have to say, this is very informative. There are even rats with completely unique patterns.
i have 4:
1. mocha- standard size, smooth fur, ruby eyed, champagne hooded
2. bean- standard size smooth fur albino
3. cola- standard size rex fur berkshire, black eyed
4. poppet- standard size smooth furred, black eyed, black hooded
also a nod to my dead girly- shadow: standard size smooth furred, black eyed, chocolate hooded
just a full white body with a grey head
One of my rats is all gray but has a white lightning strike looking mark by his eye. What kind is he??
*ferzani * 5:09
Awesome video! I learned how much i don't know about them. I've had 80 or more and still don't understand all the types. All i know is they are such Awesome pets and you got a subscriber. Thank you.
I have a pet rat and her name is Olive. This video really helped me figure out what kind of rat she is, Thx for making this video. Plz make more
olive is a Rex rat and broken Hooded
Aw cute! I am glad this video helped you :)
I've got a slim Russian Blue with the most lovely fur ever.
Love the way rats are
I have a rat that has a mask very similar to the varigated but no other markings on her body, would that still be considered a varrigated even though she doesn’t have marks on her body?
How did you cut to make a space in your basket in your rattles cage?😁 I noticed in the intro
I actually didn't cut anything. I used two baskets and I tied them together using cable ties through the holes :)
I have a self-rat which is a dumbo, funny thing is when I turn around and turn around to look back at them, they moved the hide already lol. Im not sure about the yellow rat though
I have a Siamese and I didn’t see you mention them in here, is there a different name for them?
Aw he sounds absolutely gorgeous :)
+PEACHY PETPARADISE (PEACHYPETPARADISE) Hes the oddball out of all of his brothers. Im naming him Marshall :) He is a very handsome pup!
Idunn Rønningen - Of course, if you are interested in rats and want to find out more, then you have come to the right place. Aw thats a shame, well there is always the future, maybe you could have some then :)
Hi again!! :)
My rats are fancy rats
+RandomStuff W Hey! :)
+PEACHY PETPARADISE (PEACHYPETPARADISE) everybody says apples are bad for rats
RandomStuff W Did this video help you find that out or did you already know that?
Can there be hooded varrigated? Because i have a cinnamon hooded with spots. He is very pretty! He is also a dumbo :)
+SmexyHinata13 Yes you can and your rat will be! Aw he sounds very cute! :)
The intro of cookie and sugar and honey their big eye UGH so hard not to cry and not to miss her to late not to cry
yes i did cry while writing the comment
I know, they were adorable :')
Bless ur soul for trying to give them the best life u could
Really useful video. I didn't realise how many different types of rats there were! Thanks for your help
Natalie Braunton Thanks! Glad you learnt something new :)
You can make a video if you like :)
just the eyes. I will make a video of him eating probably, but it will be in two weeks time because that's when I will next see him :(
ExplodingPorridge Okay, aww wow why so long, are you on holiday?
my mum and dad live in different places and I visit my dad on weekends and that is where my rats are
ExplodingPorridge Okay so does he take good care of them and give them lots of playtime and attention?
I have three boys one sold black the other a broken hooded like almost white blonde and then my other boy is somewhat a broken hooded he has white under his chin and a little spot in the middle of his head and he has to patches and speckles going down his back. What would he be called?
He sounds like a variegated :)
I have a red/ruby eyes rat. He is mainly white but he has a creamy line going down his back. Which type would he be?
Your presentation of rats, very cuchy! Cool n interesting! Joe
I have a light grey female rat witha whitw belly and paws and a lightning strike across her forhead. What kind of rat is that?
I have a rat named Nyx and she looks like a Verrigated but instead of her having patches on the back its one black line.... the veriggated rat looked the closest to what she looks like but im not sure if thats what she is
hi!
PEACHY PETPARADISE .. I have videos of them.. you should be able to tell.. they're 7 months old
My current one is a broken hooded agouti, his brother was a blue hooded but his colouring faded until he was completely white!
That can happen sometimes, that's cool :)
One of mine is black with a white belly, three white paws and a white patch on her forehead. What kind is she if you know please?
+Martha Stapleton Sounds like a Berkshire. Maybe you could gmail me a pic of her then I can clarify that. My gmail is peachyspetparadise@gmail.com :)
+PEACHY PETPARADISE (PEACHYPETPARADISE) Thanks,I think you're right.Yours are absolutely adorable might I add :)
my other one is white albino with a fawn patch on her bum and the rest is white and nose is slightly darker than the rest of the body,i thought she was patched but i just wanted confirmation :) you earned yourself a sub! xx
Martha Stapleton You can't get an albino with a fawn patch. Sounds like Patched yes. But maybe you could send an image of her to my gmail, Peachyspetparadise@gmail.com just so I can see for myself :)
Thanks for another great video peachypetparadise
I had several rats as pets as a child. Wonderfully smart and affectionate. They used to ride in my saddle bags when I rode my horse. They loved to go with me
Aww they sounded like such darlings :)
Pete Suba Thats a great age, but I am so sorry for your loss, he sounded lovely and very special to you. Aw great choice :)
I'm trying to figure out my rats colors.. One is black but has silver/white hairs at 4 months, and the other ome is darker then a champagne but tot cool toned to be a cinnamon I think, he's more like a gold shade, please help..
One and too, auto correct :)
You can always send me a pic of them via my gmail - Peachyspetparadise@gmail.com. Then I can clarify to you what they are :)
Great video with good information. You are right, it would take forever to go over all of the different colors/types/coats etc. Years ago when I was learning all about rats so I could competently take care of one, I was shocked at all the differences. I just found your channel, and I look forward to checking it out. 🐀❤️
Thank you! :) Haha yes, they are just so many. That's great, I hope you enjoy the content :)
is there such thing as a rat that is like a berkshire but has a little stripe or spot on his/ her head?
Yes this is a Berkshire rat :)
PEACHY PETPARADISE oh, ok thanks!
one of my pet rats is dumbo eared patched and my other rat was hooded
I got a rat named siren and a rat named willow and willow is hooded with red eyes and siren is patched( she also has a mark like Harry Potter on her fore head) and she has brown or black eyes
tendayslater roblox lets plays Aw how cute :)
Isn't "Capped" also an option? Capped would be basically hooded but the capped doesn't go down to the shoulders.
Yes it is
May I ask where/who you got your rats from?
Every rats in the world are beautiful like the colors of the rainbow!
Shadow Wolfyxgirlx Hehe I agree!
Can you do a vid on the larger types of rats, and types of rats who have better temperaments?
I have an Agouti Hooded female (Misty) and a Siamese ruby eyed female (Buttercup) they’re so sweet ❤️🥰
My sons & I have found that the blue and beige colored rats always seem to be very sweet & gentle. We think that the gentle gene goes along with those colors genes!
Aw how sweet :)
I'm getting a rat soon I stay at school until 240 pm do you have any recommendations for rats that will be happy with that
+Ollie J. (Rachel) OK thank you so much that was my main concern
Actually rats are crepuscular but thank you for helping them out at the time I couldn't :)
+PEACHY PETPARADISE (PEACHYPETPARADISE) crepuscular means awake during night and day right?
Hi Peachy Pet Paradise! I'm considering getting a small animal, but I can't decide between a hamster or a rat. The only problems with hamsters is that they're nocturnal and aren't as affectionate as rats, but they're quite cute. Do you think you can give me some advice on which to choose price wise and also based off animal bonding? Thank you so much :)
~Star
Thank you so much for your help! :) I'll definitely consider the information you've given me! :3
I have a light brown rat that has a white underbelly qhat kind is that?
Hopefully he will cheer up soon :)
thank you. I had a question that your video answered.
Such unique little animals. I can't wait to get rats. I've been reading up on them a lot. I think they're going to be spoiled!
Indeed :) Aw how exciting, you already sound like a loving rat owner :)

Thank you Nad! Aha yep and they are only common ones, there are so many more out there! ;) x
Hey peachy I have no rats but I do have a hamster your hamster videos really helped me so thank you
Well I am glad you find my hamster videos helpful at least :)
All the cute rats!!
Love the hoodies, I had a self blue once.
:)
My boy is white but has a wide gray band from nose to tail so I'm at a lost what he is. In his gray there s a tint of brown in places top ear.
+Victoria smith He sounds like a blue hooded :)
also is there different colors of Berkshire if so what?
You can get a Mink Berkshire colour. Either way the have a solid colour on top with a completely white underbelly, usually with white feet and a white tip on the tail :)
Aw I love looking at such cute rats and animals I love this video
I agree and thanks :)
I have a broken hooded rat, well, two actually. please tell me if three rats is better than two. Oh, and my ratties are like fawn or cinnamon
Well rats being pack animals do better in groups anyway but they can still happily live as a pair. But another benefit to having three is that if one were to pass before the others, then your remaining two would still have each other and not be alone or need to be bond with a new rat so it also saves you having to bond two rats that don't know each other in future :)
Thank you! :D
I'm worked about getting a wild rat because is there fur nasty and corse because I want a rat fur that I can pat.
Aw they must be adorable! :)
I have a chocolate rat and a blue rat. Her blue is just starting to really show but it's pretty cute :)

i have a broken hooded and a a self there twins and there names are haven and nevah love the video! :)
Aw how cute :) Thanks!
What about the husky?
albino(pronounced al-buy-noh) rats, or albinism, is actually a skin/fur condition where they have a lack of pigment in their entire body, which is what causes the pure-white fur & red eyes. these kinds of animals may also have a sensitivity to light & sunburn, along with other skin conditions associated with that.
apologies if this sounds rude, i just wanted to elaborate on the albinos a bit!
Your videos have helped me soooo much on learning about rats I am getting 2 males for my bday soooo existed

I wish I could but I don't have my rats anymore. Certainly one for future though, thanks for the request :)
