Michelle Rodriguez is such a great hype woman, she has such a great energy and sense of humour, and is really working to make the others more comfortable and engaged.
lol youre in luck cuz theyve done several dozen interviews for this movie. theres a crazy ton of them. and theyve kept their humor and charisma all thru it.
I went into this film with very low expectations after 35 years (beginning at age 16) of being disappointed by every attempt to turn this IP into a film. I am so happy to say that I enjoyed the hell out of this movie!! Expect a rip-roaring popcorn flick with plenty of nods to the game and cameos from the past, and you will have a good time too. If you AREN'T a D&D player, never fear, you'll still have a good time. Just be prepared for what this film is and what it is not. "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" is to "The Lord of the Rings" films what "Starship Troopers" is to last year's "Dune" film by Denis Villeneuve. Both are enjoyable, but for different reasons. Overall I'd give it a very solid 7.5 non-gamers. If you are a player this is easily an 8.5, maybe even a 9. They took their time and respected the source material.
I loved the Jeremy Irons one when I was young and stupid. I love the writing, characters and attention to detail of this one. Just a fantastic job all around. Bonus points for Chris Pine singing.
Totally agree, the story was the heart of the movie because it was fairly simple but relatable. Most fantasy franchises failed because they thought it had to be this epic cgi bukkake but there's only so much flash and sparks one can take before you get bored. In this movie you were invested in the characters, the stakes were clear and you were rooting for them to succeed.
I’ve not seen her in interviews before and she’s so good. I love how friendly and supportive she is, even saying Andy Serkis should’ve gotten an award for his performance
Agreed! They are hilarious!! I was trying to think what this movie reminded me of, and those definitely fit! Also love the Princess Bride comparison ^_^
4:27 even Hugh couldnt keep a straight face in that instance of onions. Damn he actually mistook easter eggs clues for onions. Out of touch with pop culture and I love it😅😅😂😂😂 and Michelle just dies laughing 🤣🤣🤣. Hugh is like the dad of the group trying to learn almost. 😂😂😂😂
He's a very bitter man for some reason. At the Oscars he was interviewed at the red carpet and he went out of his way to avoid answering any questions. Even the most basic questions he would refuse to answer. Some say that he's pedantic and too full of himself. Which prevents him from just enjoying life. I hope that this experience will help him to lighten up a bit. Especially with this cast full of actors that are the opposite of him in terms of their personality.
@@Jedzelex I saw the interview. I think he was trying to be funny. He seems to have a dry sense of humor. He also reminds me of Harrison Ford how he likes playing up “hating star wars” more than he actually hates it.
@@FortKnoxMovies No, he wasn't trying to be funny at all during that interview. Not a chance in hell. That interview even went viral precisely because of how much of an a-hole Hugh Grant behaved with Ashley Graham. And he's nothing like Harrison Ford. Grant just comes off as a stuck up prick who is too full of himself. While Ford just hates doing interviews. But he rarely ever takes his frustration on the person interviewing him. Unless its for laughs like he does on Conan or with any other late show host. Grant often admits that he's a-hole to people. Like when he said that on the 1st day of filming D&D, he yelled at an innocent woman that he got confused with a studio employee. The poor woman was there as a chaperone to a young girl. He did apologize tho. Still, he needs to lighten up and enjoy the fact that people enjoy his work on screen.
@@FortKnoxMovies LOL Didn't know Hugh Grant had a defense force. You don't have to defend a rich celeb, my dude. Especially one that wouldn't spit on you even if you were on fire 🔥
Sophia knows Mystery Men and Galaxy Quest. She is one of us. Rege-Jean, are you a Critter? Please say yes! Now I have a dream of Sophia and Rege-Jean guesting on Critical Role. Also liked Michelle and Justice over there cracking up so much. Love it. And, of course Hugh being so casually hilarious.
Just saw it, and I had a good time. It was _fun,_ and so many movies nowadays aren't. I've been playing D&D for forty years, and I appreciated the in-jokes and references but never felt like they were overwhelming. I also liked that it wasn't trying to be Lord of the Rings. I'll probably go see it again while it's in theaters. Well done, all.
Michelle complimenting performance and motion capture actors is really moving to hear as an artist. Especially because she has first hand experience with movies involving performance capture like Avatar, one of the pioneers of it.❤
Most refreshing thing? This movie was great and despite that it had a fantastic diverse cast of people and not one person even complained about them making Elminster darker in skin tone. I loved this movie. Its my movie of the year for now. So far above my expectations
Loved this movie, it was really fun. Holga was my favorite. And Chris Pine is correct, D&D is just improv. I highly encourage anyone who liked this movie, who thought "I wonder if the game is any fun" to give it a try. If you have a friend who is a wannabe writer, make them the game master, and everyone else can make characters. You'll have the time of your life. I've been playing D&D and similar games for over two decades now, and it's really a wonderful time if you have a good group and a good attitiude. You can play sci-fi and horror and every other genre too. It's not just swords and sorcery.
Though Sophia says she didn't have a lot of lines, I loved her character (yes, she didn't play the shape shifts). This little creature that doesn't really fit, turning into a power house. Or actually being a power house.
I loved the film!!! It’s so much fun to watch!!! Regé-Jean brought his swag and handsome good lucks to his role as always, Chris Pine reminds me of a young Kurt Russell, Michelle Rodriguez is a bad ass, Hugh Grant is such a joy to watch on screen bringing innocence and evil to his role but my favorite character is Sophia Lillis as the morphing elf. Love her!!!
I haven't seen it yet but I'm glad people are liking it because I really want them to start doing more D&D movies. I haven't played the game in a long time but I've been reading the novels for a long time and there are sooooo many good ones that I think would make fantastic film series.
I loved this movie! My tabletop role playing group saw this in the theater together. D&D was the first thing we played together. ❤ Then eventually we explored so many other TTRPGs. I just love hanging out with friends, ordering food, creating characters, and going through the story together. As a player of D&D, it really did remind me of the game, and how fun/crazy it can be, and the sometimes things don’t go according to plan on your adventures. You don’t know where the story is going to go. Embrace it and have a good time. 😊
Liked this movie a lot. Been playing D&D, Pathfinder, and other RPGS for 20+ years and this captured the feel of the game. I loved Sophia's Tiefling Druid and the fat dragon. They kept the Paladin on point by only letting him participate in the party for a limited time, given the party was fairly neutral. Playing a Pathfinder game this week-end, which I am sure will be full of talk of this movie since I know we have all seen it.

chris pine comparing dnd to improv class is exactly why i love roleplaying games so much. it's improv with stats and rules; the stats and rules and combat scenarios provide prompts for improv, and you act it out with your pals and just have a great time.

Hugh Grant exudes such a "cool dad who doesn't know what is happening but stayed for the kids" energy. This is amazing and witty!
This is really the most eclectic cast I’ve ever seen recently. It looks like it shouldn’t work but surprisingly it does
your last line describes almost every d&d party
Man these guys rocked
It was a great movie, and you all did an excellent job !!!! Please, more ❤😊
I love Rege-Jean saying "I'm even nerdier, I watch people playing D&D..." ME TOO! Glad to see the nerdiness spectrum expanded. :D
This is a surprisingly good cast that works well together even though they are so different 😂
Like a D&D party!
Michelle Rodriguez is History

One of my favorite vibes ever🤗
“You guys baffle me… I can’t tell if your happy or sad” Michelle is so real for that 😂
