Finally, almost 7 years ago i brought on youtube the original video of Daffy's Rhapsody ( www.youtube.co.... ), not anyone notiece that the audio was in demo, it was not definitive, but finally now thanks to the warner brothers we got the original amazing perfect audio of the one of the best shorts ever, enjoy it ;)

One of the rare times Daffy has the Bugs Bunny luck and avoids getting shot by Elmer
back to the old Daffy basically (1937 - 1940)
*1937 - 1951. I put 1940 because in You Ought to Be in Pictures (1940) is the very first time where we see Daffy with his oportunist personality. But after that a lot of other shorts were released where Daffy stills completely crazy. His personality as we know today was only stablished once and for all in the short Rabbit Fire, where he was completely selfish and unlucky just like in You Ought to Be in Pictures and, after that, he wouldn't go back to its roots until 2012.
When Bugs isn't there, Daffy has Bugs power
@@kidfil0947 Daffy is unique in that with the other characters they eventually were refined over time to become what they are now. As an example, when Bugs Bunny first appeared he was as crazy as the early Daffy and Woody Woodpecker. Likewise, when Tweetie Pie first appeared he wasn't the innocent he later became, he was extremely aggressive (at the end of one cartoon after eliminating his opponent, he indicates that he'd previously eliminated over 100 more).
The exception was Daffy Duck. What he is depends on who directs him. With Tex Avery and Bob Clampett, Daffy is the completely insane. With Robert McKimson, Daffy is the put-upon loser in a world where things work against him. With Chuck Jones, Daffy is the cowardly schemer who will do anything to win but it always backfires against him.
As an example: in one Jones cartoon Daffy manages to defeat Bugs for what he thinks is a prize of a million bucks. He wins the prize which is actually a Million Box. Disgusted, Daffy gives the prize to Bugs. It turns out The Million Box contains one million boxes each of which contains 1 dollar, so he gave Bugs $1,000,000.
@@Solitaire001 while i like all of his personality types I have to say that I prefer crazy daffy to schemer daffy. he can be really funny as the jerk character and that has led to some iconic moments but I find him more endearing when he's just having fun being his looney self.
The fact that mel was able to make the fast paced lyrics smooth and true to the melody while still holding onto Daffy's voice and lisp makes it all the better. And the updated music, the cgi, the added sounds, its so good. This is SUCH a perfect song for Daffy too

Technically, the song wasn't originally recorded like this. Mel Blanc spoke slowly in a deeper voice for Daffy (in the same voice he used for Sylvester), and the recordings were sped up in post-production. That's why if you lower the pitch of Daffy's voice in the classic shorts, he sounds just like Sylvester.
Though several audience members were shot, it was still a killer performance.
I love how literally no one in the theatre questioned how elmer pulled out a rifle at the very start lol

Well, that’s Daffy’s acting skills to a tee. It’s his job and what he’s trained to do. Improvise and carry on.

at 1:42 it's really hard to see what actually happens, but I'm pretty sure the rope teleports a little bit as the confetti covers daffy, so as to make his transition from "flying birdie" to standing on the rope feel smoother.
2:11 If you look closely, when daffy does his twirl around and moves to put his arms around elmer, his left arm slides THROUGH elmer to get into that position.
3:35 another one to see is how when he's on his back, as elmer twirls around, daffy's head spins 360 degrees in order to keep eye contact with the audience.
isn't animation neat? There's so many clever little tricks where--even when you CAN see them--it always looks so natural. And these were just the ones I could spot; I can only imagine what other things are going on that are so natural that I wouldn't even be able to register that it was happening!

I know this opinion will probably change in the future given I've haven't watched EVERY Merrie Melodies (Looney Tunes) Short involving Daffy, but this is my FAVORITE Daffy Duck Short of ALL Time! Everything from the Animation, the Music, Mel Blanc's Entire Performance is just PERFECTION! Even the Premise is PURE Genius & Fitting given Daffy's Whole Conception as a Character & his Earliest Appearances (Porky's Duck Hunt and Daffy Duck & Egghead) in Merrie Melodies!
I love the pure irony when Daffy says "I get weak and they get stronger" as he's outsmarting Elmer Fudd at every turn

My favorite little touch is that slight of hand Daffy does when cocking the trigger and most blowing Elmer's brains out of he wanted to but doesn't as to not horrify the crowd.

There’s actually 2 different versions of this short with different music and sound effect cues in some scenes.
I've now seen both versions.
I think Elmer’s dialogue sounds different too.
