Great video. I just got the tags a few weeks ago and thinking of adding an Android watch to the mix. Every once in a while I forget to tap my putter but that is easily corrected. Very happy with them. Look forward to more videos especially if you link to a watch 🙂
What about your phone screen locking in between shots? I'm guessing that if your phone screen locks you have to swipe up for face recognition or enter your passcode, then scan tag/club...or is that not an issue?
Thing is for me and maybe I've missed something is that you wanna see the phone screen anyway when you want to see a map of the course and you can just select the club you want from there. These tags are quite pricy at £80 ish and all they do is speed up the process by tapping the club on the back of your phone. Again correct me if I'm wrong.

ok newb question here, but how is it measuring the distance? is it that you hit the ball with the club you selected, then walk out to the ball and then it measures how far you walked to retrieve the ball? or is it somehow working out speed/distance from the swing of the club itself? If so, are you having to press a button to say that you've made it to your ball? or how does it know? is this the same mechanism for how it's working out putting distance? select putter, hit the ball, walk to the the ball's new location and it measures the distance travelled?
Yeh exactly, its basically measuring the distance from club to club, so as you said I tap the driver, it starts measuring until I tap the next club and on the green, you basically tap your putter repeatedly for every put from the position you are taking the putt. So if you forget to tag one club it doesn't stop measuring. There is no button or anything really. It all works via the NFC on your device. I hope that helped my friend!
@@TalkingGolf thanks so much. Hi Yannick, thanks for the video the Tags seem to work fine... I just would like to know how the tech works? I get that you tap so the app knows what club is being played but how does it know how far the ball went etc, I don't get how it tracks the ball as GPS won't be able to track it? Doe's it just compare the distance from the first tap to the second and thats how it calculates the distance? If so when putting do you need to tap when taking the ball from the cup so the app knows where the cup is as this can change? I'm in the UK and thinking of getting them but just wanted to make sure how they calculated the distance. Thanks Lee
Hey Lee! Great question. So they basically track every shot from tap to tap. On the green it gets a bit tricky. You cant track the last "put" / shot length. You just move to the next hole and its not registered where the last shot ended. In case of an hole in one for example that would be a bit annoying haha. But besides that the tracking works really well and i really like how you can look at the map after every round to see where all your shots went - which clubs you used and how far you hit each club. Let me know if i can help with anything else and in case you do get them feel free to share your experience :)
ya basically you tap, Drive .... walk to the ball, tap again (that calculates your drive distance and prepairs the starting point for the next shot) hit the ball ... walk to the ball, tap your next club (that calculates your second shot and the starting point for the next shot.). so dont tap unless you are at your ball, same with putting. only tap when you are at your ball.
Because they give you 15 tags, and you are only supposed to carry 14 clubs, you can create a tag that registers hole location and tap it to the phone over the hole. I cut the end of a club/grip off of my sons outgrown jr clubs about 3 inches long and carry it in my pocket that doesn't have the phone in it. I use that to mark the hole location when I get to the green.
@@johngood9217 "I use that to mark the hole location when I get to the green." I wondered why there wasn't a way to mark the hole location with the GPS, this seems to me like a good idea. If there's a way to get around that (if it happens), this seems like a great solution to me. I have to go to the hole anyway, I want the ball back...
Thank you!! It wouldn't work on the range. It basically tracks the distance from club to club measuring the gps distance. So you tag one club, it sets the location, you walk to the ball and it measures the distance and when you tag the next club it shows the exact distance for the shot. There dumb, the "tags" only place a scanable tag for the clubs and actually do nothing else. Your cell phone does all tha actual work, clearly the tags are just an add on gimmick to boost the cost over just an app alone!
Well, since you have a scannable tag for the clubs, you are saved the trouble of entering the club for each shot. You can call it an "add on gimmick" if you want, but that is a major convenience for someone using an app to track shots. I use a different app and am looking for a better one, so I know that it is irritating to have to get out the phone, wake it up, tap a button to enter a club, tap on the club to select it, force the phone to sleep again, and put it away before addressing the ball. A lot of the times you have to do that, the rest of the foursome is waiting for you, so the specific time you have to do this is visibly holding them up. They will tend to perceive all of it as "unnecessary futzing", even if it doesn't take very long.

Wearing a mask while golfing is the height of insanity.
Where your mask outside… fucking hell 😂😂😂😂
I don't want to see your face,
