I find masonry interesting. But it seems that the people who join this group are not all that interested in the esoteric wisdom in all of that. To them it’s more about a social club. I would like to join just to learn about all that knowledge.

@Heartless The dues vary from Lodge to Lodge, but you can expect to pay around £200 per year, or whatever your currency equivalent is. Freemasons date whoever they want. Eastern Stars are in the USA only, and Freemasonry is a worldwide society... so if we only dated Eastern Stars, there'd be an awful lot of lonely Masons around the world! Most Lodges expect a dress code, typically a dark two or three piece suit, tie etc. We also wear regalia, which depicts our rank within the fraternity and that must be worn whenever the Lodge meets. Some lodges meet weekly, some monthly and some monthly with a summer break. It varies from Lodge to Lodge.

These are the requirements for entry to Freemasonry, if you wish to apply Belief in a supreme being, responsible for the creation of the universe. Be male. Be of a minimum age. Be free of criminal convictions. Be able to afford the fees without undue strain on the family budget. Have the support of the family. If you satisfy those minimum requirements, you will be invited to interview. If that goes ok, you will be visited at home for your family to ask any questions they wish. If that goes ok, you will be ballotted for and if that goes ok, a date for your Initiation will be decided. Hope that helps.

If, after much discussion, he thinks it's a good idea, he will propose you and he will get another Mason to second you. The other route, is to apply via a Lodge website. Someone will contact you for basic information and after a brief interview, will put you forward. It is likely that it will take some time to become a member...after all, a Brothers reputation is at stake. He will not want to propose/second a man who does not ultimately reflect honour on his choice. during that time, you will be invited to various social and charitavle functions, in order that they get to know you better. When (and IF) they are satisfied (it's not an automatic right to join a Lodge!) they will proceed with the processs. They may decide that Freemasonry, or, perhaps just their Lodge, is not right for you and will tell you so that you are not left hanging on.
Ask yourself why. Then Google your local lodge. Ask for more information. Petition, have a investigation, get voted on, wear a suit, get initiated. Its super easy if you have the right intentions.
