As I read your comment, the song was still playing. I visualize as I read and I could see the funeral play out with the song in background. It brought tears to my eyes. I mean no disrespect, i know what your son went through with addiction. It's so hard to stop. And you really want to. So it becomes a battle inside yourself. Usually the addicted self wins. And the true self, the one that wants to quit, the one that wants to live becomes miserable because it's fighting an endless battle and too scared and ashamed to ask for help. I was that person for over 10yrs. I'm on the path to full on sobriety and have been able to stay on it because of GOD and complete honesty with my immediate family. And completely cutting off every one in my life that I did all that with. Which was basically everyone I hung out with. Best thing I ever did. They r not bad people just make bad decisions and have bad habits. But I can no longer be around them. I'm rambling, I'm sorry. I will pray for u and ur son. And I'm sorry he lost his life to drugs. I'm sorry you have to go through all that. My heart goes out to you

At moment of of clarity during my abuse of sadness I searched for the Pipers to cheer me up as I'm a wee bit away from Scotland and miss it dearly. I found this song and played it on repeat for weeks hoping that I could gather the strength to sing it. I couldn't get threw a single verse without crying, I still can't!. I have stopped lying to myself and have reached out for help and I'm receiving it in bucket loads. This song is amazing I cry to this song because I've 🐝 homeless never begging but made many mistakes but when has anyone leaved the light on. This song seen me to see what human beings are really like, I've had nothing all my music had an alcoholic mother but my dad was a firefighter they both tried there best but I needed hel and no-one stepped up
Me and my family are going true a crisis now, and it's a hard time for us. But I always "leave a light on" and this version of this song is perfect for me to keep up the spirit.
