    He is spot on with the calmness analogy. If you are calm, your awareness covers the whole atmosphere, when you panic is when you get tunnel vision, and lose.

      I think mental training is more important that physical for new students, especially if they have no prior martial arts training, I have changed the way i teach, I stress mental clamness from day 1, it has made a difference in people's improvement.

    I come from a 10-year amateur boxing background before BJJ. There is a lot of overlap between BJJ and Boxing. I'm a Black belt (for 3 years now).

    I taekwondo and would love to get better at sparing but don't have anyone to spar with right now. Hopefully i can get back to classes and get better.
