Kayla, you REALLY should get Patchy the strawman. That guy has cared for so many of my chores for free, along with free seeds.
I forgot about Patchy ! He would be SOOOO helpful and he could act as another adult for the kid as it ages up
Unfortunately she said she's pre recording for the wedding. So it'll be a while
omg I love my patchy!!! Who is so helpful, even helped with my laundry a couple times. But love how he always comes alive to help with the crops after I have harvested, so he can take care of weeds or bugs, he also helps clean up dishes and take out trash. such a nice guy!
One thing to keep in mind for Patchy is that he'll harvest crops and add them to the household inventory. I'm not sure if this only happens with the Self-Sufficient NAP active (which actually makes all sims outside your household randomly decide to *steal your crops* too), but it's something to consider.
How do you get a patchy??
I love the concept that the baby's hair looks like his mom's because she does at home haircuts and that's kinda just like the only style she knows how to do.
Yes esp bc Justin’s hair looks like he just doesn’t get haircuts so having Kale’s hair match his mom’s makes perfect sense!!
Maybe Kale could become spouse of Hay Bell in the Nightmare Legacy Challenge ? They could have a little farm together 🤩
OMG that is soooo darn cute!!!
SIMSIE TAKE NOTES
oh this is so needed
@@sipsicle frrrr
nice
I love this series, it inspired me to try a little sim farm myself! My sim hired a ranch hand who started flirting with her autonomously, and she reciprocated. They started a relationship, risky Woohoo struck and she wound up pregnant. When she told the ranch hand, he got mad and from their, all of their non-romantic interactions were negative. She had the baby and introduced the baby to the ranch hand, who got angry AGAIN. So my sim broke up with him. He became enraged and died. I put his grave behind the barn and now he is haunting my sim. 10/10 would recommend.
😂😂😂
This is so dramatic i love it
This is my favorite Let’s Play you’ve done so far. I would absolutely LOVE to watch you do a Decade’s Legacy. So Gen 1 would take place in the 60’s, Gen 2 in the 70’s, and so on. It’s so fun to watch Sims find alternate ways of living and I feel like this would be a great Legacy Challenge to compliment that!
YESS
itd be better for it to start in the 1920s so 10 generations takes us up to the modern day
@@MEDSZ13.08 i like this but it would also be nice to have them go into the future aswell
Yessss!!!
20:30 Kayla, you don’t actually have to wait in town all day. You can just leave without dropping out of the competition! I discovered this recently
This was literally us for about 4 days! Storm Éowyn battered Ireland and parts of Scotland, and we had no power, water, heat or internet connection for 4 days and nights (the latter being our least concern for once!). We were all huddled together in jumpers, dressing gowns and blankets in candlelight, flushing the toilets with buckets of rainwater. We got our power back on today, but some people won't get it until the end of the week or into next week. I've never seen so much devastation from a storm before; trees down absolutely everywhere. We've had to call in help from the UK, France, and other parts of Europe to help our crews restore power to the whole country. It was a real eye opener as to how lucky we are to have all these modern luxuries, when there are so many people suffering in the world 😔
no way, I totally relate to this! i live in western north carolina and in october when helene came through and totally wrecked my hometown and our neighbors, we just cooked our chicken eggs over the firepit for breakfast lunch and dinner for a couple weeks! as terrible as the hurricane was, i definitely learned to appreciate what ive got now
Yeah. It can be a lot to live through, even for areas around the world that are used to extreme weather. 😞 The new weather patterns are devastating.
@@lesbianwafflemaker3959 Luckily we didn't have too much major damage to most buildings, but power lines were completely destroyed, roofs took a battering, and things like signs, garden sheds and fences; all that kind of stuff. But an awful lot of trees came down; that was really sad to see. I think it felt like a lot to us because we're not used to any really big weather events. Yeah we have storms, but we were pre-warned that this would probably be the worst storm Ireland had ever seen, and I think it probably was. I think this type of thing is just going to get worse with climate change. Governments are going to have to put more preparations in place so that we're ready for it, but that's easier said than done 🙁
@@kelly-bo-belly @kelly-bo-belly That's the thing, Ireland isn't really used to big weather events like we just had, and we don't have the right infrastructure for it. That's why it's taking us so long to fix things again. I think I read somewhere that we have around four times the overhead network per capita compared to the UK or Europe because Ireland is so rural. I think we're going to have to have better plans in place for the future, because it looks like it's only going to get worse
@@lesbianwafflemaker3959 We were a lot luckier in that most buildings here weren't too damaged. We just couldn't do anything in them because we had no power or water 😅 But at least we had shelter and didn't lose all our possessions like you and so many others in the US do during the hurricanes you get. We have a lot to be thankful for
Living off the grid is soooo underrated, it gives the game a unique challenge that gets you more involved imo, so fun.
The infant play mat directly in front of the fireplace kills me 😭
and the infant as well lol
@@SavrilloI was gonna say similar 😂
In real life, my toddler sits on the hearth step - with the fire on... So I did not even notice in game 🤣
Fun (okay, depending on your definition of fun) fact because Kayla said that she can use dog's poop as fertiliser: carnivore's poop shouldn't be used as such. Carnivores have different bacteria in GI tract than herbivores and it could lead in best case to plants dying, in worst case to dangerous infections if the plants would be ingested and bacteria got crazy in the manure (like e. coli). I've heard once that carnivore's manure also has too much nitrogen to be valuable fertiliser, but idk how much truth is in it, it might be bs. And of course if any animal, even herbivore, is taking any meds, you can't use it.
Another fun fact: dog poops sells for 0 simoleons and because of how fertilizer works in the Sims 4, they're awful fertilizer. They changed the way it worked when Seasons came out so price point is what matters. The cut-off for most potent fertilizers is somewhere around 50 simoleons (the info is online, I'm lazy lol), so using an item that costs more than that makes no difference.
Regarding IRL I think that's probably too generalized to be completely accurate. There might be something to it but for example, omnivores exist all over the world as well. How does one categorize them? And in the wild, plants don't get to choose what the source of their nitrogen is. Some plants feed on insects because they don't get enough nutrients where they grow, but that's a rare counter-example and still relies on what they can catch.
So I think the biggest factor is really about commercial crops and cost cutting measures, plus relying on one or two strains of a specific type of crop that has been bred for specific characteristics while many others were ignored or shored up by other farming methods. Humans have been doing that for centuries so they're not entirely like their wild cousins, it's the differences between dogs and coyotes for example. The commercial crops are probably akin to purebred anything, and because efficiency is more about speed and presentation than basic health and flavor, that might limit their ability to break down a variety of bacteria too. This is all off-the-cuff speculation though; I'm not an expert. I just thought I'd ramble a bit.
now this is the kind of fun facts that are the most fun to me
@@DoveJS I understood that “real” carnivores or hypercarnivores (e.g. cats and other felines) who live off of +70% animal matter’s poops are absolutely abysmal fertiliser to the point where too many pet cats can be a serious problem to the local ecosystem, especially bc they tend to walk miles a day so they leave poop everywhere.
I imagine omnivore poop is more complicated 🤔
@Sukuzilu Fair enough. That may also be a case of concentrating so many obligate carnivores in one area. I also wonder if it's at all dependent on what their food had been eating lol. Like if the rats have mostly junk food available and then the cats eat the rats, so less valuable nutrients added? But it's not like I've done actual research on it. I'm mostly just skeptical because if the cats are in an urban environment with very little plant life, how would they notice? Unless they did a controlled experiment or took samples from multiple areas/environments. But yeah.
@@DoveJS I don’t remember exactly, but it was more about areas where you can have “outside cats” if that makes sense, so I think that must at minimum be suburban right? I don’t think many people in urban areas let their cats out very often anymore. I saw this in a video about the safety of raising pets vegan, where dogs are not that much of a problem (if you give proper care and give them quality food etc etc) and cat poop was one of the problems that was brought up in it, the local environment being impacted by pet cats (this was an older video by unnatural vegan, in case you’re interested, she links to all the papers she based the info on so you can take a look for yourself if you want! 😁)
The video on the official TH-cam channel was so cute and fun! I loved all the guests and especially plumbella's house 😂
I saw the title and just had to share this story.
I once entered a perfect quality death flower into one of the fairs. The other 2 entries were frail common fruits. I came 3rd. It's was for my legacy challenge (that's basically a homestead. Basically what your doing but without every animal and a legacy,) and no one has competed in a fair since
EXACTLY! I'm doing a legacy at the moment. I entered my llama and its wool. Llama was very happy and we had a full bar of friendship and the wool was perfect. The competition was normal and a content Llama and i came third in both. Its so annoying
I once entered an obsidian milk that i bought there and got 1rst place 😂😂
That's sooo lame that they made the competitions so arbitrary. At that point, why even compete if it's all random? I wonder if you could improve your chances at winning by befriending all the townies
I'm also playing like this right now.. a little hint on horse ranch.. there is a sigh you can buy. When you click on the sign, you can hire a ranch helper, but also take to horse competitions.. your horse and rider leave the lot but you can stay there..
Hopes it makes sense.. my English is not so good.. 😊
Under 1 hour gang
Meeee
Shockingly me
Under 15 minutes gang 😂
ayyyee
Here
The honey cake is in the fridge, she baked it then put it in there lol, I watched her do it the second time, so I think the one you used was the first one! 🤭
But I love this series, I'm going to try this with some Sims who will run the farm with their family, as I haven't done much with Cottage Living gameplay lol! Not sure I'll be brave enough to do laundry as well though, we'll see! 🤭
kayla that sweater is so cute wtf
Ikr I love it!! 🤎🤎
I did an off grid game, and I made a farm stand on my lot with the food stand from home chef hustle, and I was able to sell my canned goods and pies, and I made so much money that way!!!
Yessss, new favourite series episodeeee
Kayla every episode: I’m so overwhelmed!
Also Kayla every episode: either gets into another hobby in game or buys yet another animal 😂
I bought Cottage Living during the 25th Anniversary sale because of this let’s play! I set my sims up in a tiny home with one brown cow named Yahoo and have yet to name the chickens. Super excited to play off the grid and simple lifestyle lot challenges
Horse ranch has a community board you can put on your home lot. This means you can enter races from home and then are able to control your farm whilst one Sim and a horse go off to race
just watched youtube’s video and now we’re here oh we’re being fed today
same! it was so entertaining & lovely to see
kayla i just wanna say your videos are literally keeping me sane at this point... it's the one time i can stop thinking about all the crazy stuff that's happening and it's a very needed break. thank you for everything queen
I LOVE off-grid challenges and have been working on one for years (I have to keep starting over). I use many mods by BrazenLotus and Littlbowbub. They both do a lot of "homesteaders" type mods to make off-grid a bit more fun for me. I can make dyed wool, more canning recipes, more usable woodworking items, drying and using herbs, and so much more.
I absolutely ADORE this series! Ughhh it’s so good! I really really hope it gets merged with the main legacy, I’d love to see Haye and Kale get married :)
i comment this on like .. EVERY video but i’m very grateful for u and ur channel kayla.. its helped me find my place in the sims community and it doesn’t matter what mood im in , but u lift me up so much, even when i’m bawling my eyes out about life.. or over the rainbow i am extremely positive watching ur vids.. s thankyou for everything u do even though u may not know i exist lol!!
hope ur doing alright kayla!! 🫶🏻😆🩷
18:55 Kayla called us chat and I thought on was on Twitch and not TH-cam. XD
my favorite money glitch is, when you put the halo gnomes in your sim’s inventory, they will endlessly generate seed packets in your household inventory. each packet is worth 100$ and they accumulate by the hundreds really quickly. use this money laundering cheat wisely and DO NOT let EA know💕🌸
the best time of the day is when simsie uploads!!!
literally
Actually, getting a second horse might actually make things a little easier. Sounds counterproductive but with a friend the horses will groom each other, keep their social needs up and such. Which means a little less work. You basically just have to feed them and clean their bed 😅🙈
I think finding a way to do a legacy challenge out of this would be so so good. Someone in the comments mentioned each heir being styled after a decade (60s, 70s) but even having some sort of planned disaster with each heir or even something like the Very Berry Challenge but off the grid - where each heir has a planned hobby (knitting, horse riding, canning, dumpster diving). Anyway, It’s an extremely rich viewer experience watching. It becomes like SIMs Stardew Valley. Simdew Valley. A++!
Simsie to the kid: what's wrong with you? Oh you are tired and hungry?
Me, tired and hungry: yes
I'm in love with this new series
The struggling with the baby is so real. Infants are astronomically glitchy 😭 when they're actually working normally I really enjoy the life stage but wow it's stressful when it's not
Just finished watching you play the Sims on TH-cam’s official channel ❤️ You were fantastic, Simsie! 👏🏻
Having an off the grid house would be a ton more fun if all generators didn't generate a violently low amount of the resource
I’ve never been so early 😳 I love this series so much !!
this let’s play is quickly becoming my favorite simsie series its really fun:)
"Hello and welcome back to the off the grid challenge" music to my ears 😌
You can upgrade the wind turbines so they get extra energy from getting struck by lightning. Could be helpful!
I’ve been loving this LP so much I’ve learned a few tips and got ideas! You can sell berries and mushrooms to the Creature Keeper for more simoleons and I don’t think you have to stay in finchwick for the fair you can just submit and leave
I know this has been said before but you REALLY need to click off "use prepped ingredients" and it will give you a TON more items you can cook off the grid!
I so love watching you play like this, because this is exactly how I start almost every generation in my legacy challenge...I just love the challenge..and yelling my sims when they don't lissen😂
Me literally screaming at the screen “SHE PUT THE CAKE IN THE FRIDGE” lmao
'Did she bake the cake or not' was said in the _exact_ tone as that one wicked tiktok sound kayla 😂
18:56 just casually calling us chat like it's a live lol
but tbh I really think you're brave for managing all of this
Simsie updating her lets play while I'm sick 🙏❤️
Kinda irrelevant to the video but I LOVE Kayla’s jumper in this video. It fits the vibe so well and suits her so well too!
Kayla, you should put the gnome in your sims inventory so that packs of seeds will be constantly added to the household's inventory. 😊
The way Sims just run off and do whatever they want (usually unproductive). Drives me crazy. 😂
Looks like to survive winter we might need a greenhouse 😅😅😅
Congrats Kayla ❤ sending so much love to you and Dan! I can’t wait to see pics ❤❤
The fair is absolutely rigged! I entered my llama and it was one of two in the competition. It placed third! I was so mad!
i saw the idea in the comments that kale marries hay bell, and i love that idea! another thought is if you want to use your gamer kit, maybe kale and hay raise a farm together, but kale takes up a side hobby in video gaming? maybe he hated living off the grid as a kid, so he moves out into a house with electricity and decides he wants to stream video games and become a video game streamer so he can make up for what he lost as a child!!😊
i love the chaos in this series 😂🩷
This series honestly inspired me to start my own TH-cam channel because I didn’t think anyone liked to play like me 😮💨
Im doing the same challenge, unfortunately my cow and llama glitched and i lost all my chickens too when i moved. But im enjoying the challenge! My sim managed to get 53000 simoleons and get a whole house upgrade. Then she got pregnant by the grim reaper and had triplet girls! They're currently infants 😂
I’ve started playing an Off The Grid Challenge since you posted yours on here! It’s so fun!
I love this series so much! I wanna try it for myself
I haven’t watched the video fully yet, but I agree about the festival! I brought a rainbow egg and a chicken with full friendship wearing a rainbow outfit I made and I got a participation ribbon… wth!
Have you ever saved all the feathers to make the bird statue? It’s super weird
I couldn't stop laughing when Kayla thought she hadn't bake the cakes because she kept placing them on the fridge.
I really love this series, it is my favourite alongside the nightmare legacy 🥰
I've always wanted to do this but always get distracted by other things and forget that household exists. (Like 66! W00T!)
Not sims related but love that sweater on you 😍 also kinda fits the off the grid theme
perfect for after class distressing
you can actually upgrade the baby crib into a bed! not through build mode but in live mode :)
U better focus on your wedding and don’t worry too much about missing news from sims and what not ☺️hope u have an amazing wedding day 😊
immediately catching the solar panel on the room 😭 i saw it in the build video and wondered how long it would take to see
I started an off-the-grid challenge after this one started. My Sim, Kimmi, has gotten first place in everything she enters. My only suggestion to other players is to fully befriend the mayor. And not just suck up to her on fair day. Genuinely be friends. Then on fair day, make sure to chat her up and compliment her before she judges your category. Do not bribe! That should be all it takes? I don't know. It's worked for my Sim. That, or she's just gotten crazy lucky. 🤷♀
(/J)
Robin: _Helps her baby, Kale, blow out his birthday candles_
Also Robin: _Bounces the baby excitedly_
Mama, from Babysitting Mama: "No, no, no! Don't shake the baby!"
I love when Kayla calls us "chat" 😂
I thought to find more info on the rigged festivals. On reddit I found the suggestion that it was on purpose because they're riggled IRL as well. Maybe being friends with the mayor has more influence than the actual quality of the submitted item. The need of so many solar panels and wind turbines looks rigged to me, too. The biggest hindrance in playing off the grid for me is that it seems to need unrealistic amounts of self-produced energy.
This series and the wedding cake rags to riches video have inspired me to actually PLAY the sims instead of just building! Of course, I'm only gonna play because I need sims to paint the decorations that I want on the walls but HEY, IT'S A STEP
AND OFC!before watching this video i got a sims ad!
Hi Kayla! I saw your TH-cam collab video with the sims challenges. You did great 😊❤
Yay! Off the grid! Love this series.
make a greenhouse so you can grow all the crops!!!
LOVE THIS SERIES
came from youtube’s channel !! you are so amazing queen
Cant wait to start gardening so i can go out randomly and encourage crop growth
i love love LOVE these sims sm
Yeaaay my new favorite series!!!
Probably late to the game but if you sell your berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, chocoberries, strawberries you name it) and mushrooms to the Creature Keeper, he pays triple the price so you get a lot more money and don't need to wait for fair days only either :)
Yess i love this series
Loveeee this series
I lost my cow in one of the festivals 😔 miss her
Kayla: "Justin needs to start helping out with the baby! You're worthless, I swear! 😠"
**Lé Sigh**
Anyways! I've been enjoying this pack so much! 😌 😋 😇
**Record scratch sound**
"WHAT THE [beep] DO YOU MEAN I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH DOUGH!?" 🤬 👿
😂😂😂😂
I wonder how the Scarecrow would hurt or help in this challenge. At least having some gardening help
Tip for selling, you can right click and sell in bundles of 5 instead of having to click a million times! I learned that way too late.
I was inspired by this series but I am SO overwhelmed lol. My Xbox can’t seem to handle all my stacked tasks either 😭making me concerned
Nice timing I am going to listen to this while I fall asleep
Not Simsie saying Kale looks just like his mother when toddlers look all the same in the Sims 4 😹
Sometimes being chronically online has its benefits cause Im seeing this so early :D
Love all your videos and just found out syndicate has contacted you about building his dream house about 13 days ago ahhhh!!!!! That would be amazing to see❤
I think it would be really cute for Kale to marry Hay Bell in the nightmare legacy challenge :3
Live for this series
Petition for this family and their ranch to join the Nightmare Legacy's world !
yes
Love the this lets play!!
Absolutely let them get into nectar making, they are gonna get rich FAAAST
