Sobo Internal Filter FE-1504 Unboxing and Setup

- SOBO Internal filter for aquarium FE-1504 has been tested in my Goldfish tank and the performance was good enough for me to keep the aquarium filter in the tank. I have recorded unboxing, assembling and testing and uploaded it to share with viewers. The 4 compartments are a great feature of this filter apart from 1200L/H powerhead. Internal filter comes with enough media to fill all the compartments. Sponges are good quality, however, ceramic rings and bio balls could be replaced with some high quality cycled bio media from existing tanks to keep the bacteria going.
Air tube connection to the powerhead helps aerate the water. The flow rate and surface agitation is pretty good and should do in a 4 feet tank without any issues. Watch the Sobo internal filter video and let me know your opinion in the comment section below.

Hey I've seen these online, they are a good price and it looks like the flow rate is pretty decent.
I bought it to test it out and it has been doing a good job. I don't see any fish poop in the tank, circulation is good enough to push all waste back towards the filter. Works well in a 3 feet tank.
It does look pretty good,I like the flow, I think I've seen these at 2000lph too!

It will be okay for a 3 feet tank but tank will get smaller for a pair of Oscar soon they hit adulthood

Hi Sharmin, if flow rate is high then buy a pvc pipe with and an end cap. Turn it into a spray bar by making some holes in the pipe. Spray bar will slow down the water flow.
or buy an over the top filter tray, pump the water up there ,u will have a very effective system believe me.

Hi Murthy, filter is approximately 40cm in length. It can be reduced by using either single or couple of compartments. Appreciate your feedback

I bought same filter but no ceramic & bio balls.........All are sponge..........Can I used ceramic balls for that filter...............my Tank 5 feet...........
Of course you can, set it up according to your needs. You could go with 2 compartments with sponges and 2 with bio media.
Filter height
Can we use this filter in tank of 1.5 feet height?
It will be a good fit for a 1.5 feet tank

is it loud ? and and is there any way that i can have no bubble in that filter?
Hi Moosa, if filter is fully submerged in the water (this is how it should be), then there won't be any noise. If you don't want air bubbles, then don't connect the air tube. Filter will function normally without bubbles.

Shrimps will occasionally get trap, I usually see them and release them back in the tank.

It should be okay for now as 5 medium size fish won't make too much mess. Try to go for higher flow rate though, price won't be too high but atleast water currents will bring fish poop back to the 2 mechanical filter compartments. I would suggest placing some good bio media in 3rd compartment and leave bio balls in the 4th compartment.

It's still in the same tank. Tank has substrate and plants now and oranda goldfish fry. Check out photo in the community tab on the channel

Hi, I am still using tgis filter and have had no issue in keeping fish healthy in the tank.

Not exactly sure but I believe over 30cm. However, height can be adjusted by removing the media compartments. You can use 1 or 2, if 3 is too high
