Nor does he hold himself as anyone’s therapist. He shares his example to demonstrate that no matter who you are, or from what condition you start, you have more potential in you than you realize. Any therapist that argues with that message isn’t one that would get a dime of my money or a minute of my time.
I have to admit that I am not an expert on his philosophy and I agree with everything you laid out in your comment. Now gimmie your time and money. Just kidding.
@@danielchu I realized the way I worded the last sentence implied it was directed at you particularly, but it was a generalization (much hazard in generalization). But yes, in many of his videos, he admonishes “Don’t get it twisted” in that it’s not about being a S.E.A.L., or how far you can run, or titles or any of it. “A hero is not a guy with a gun” is one of his expressions. A hero, if such a thing even exists, is someone who, in that split second of overwhelm in face of a task that is a necessary obstacle to a desired goal, learns to quiet the mind that is screaming “we gotta get outta here, quit this, we’ll never make it” and reorder his/her thoughts, retain perspective, and not make thoughts and feelings masters of destiny. Of course, he isn’t the only person with such a message, but what unceasingly amazes me is how he figured all of it out himself, from a very dark place, and summoned the courage even to begin to become the person he is today.
@rdgjd I do give him a lot of respect and not just for his physical accomplishments. What I am so impressed with is how he was able to look at himself and make such a drastic change. Change is hard so I give respect when it is due. Also I take no offense to anything you wrote. I actually really appreciate the push back and I enjoy the back and forth!
@@danielchu Of the segments of interviews I’ve seen, this is perhaps my favorite, because it relays what I believe is his central message, that a disciplined mind is the greatest “weapon” (metaphorically speaking) in the world). th-cam.com/video/HSXC2T_8HGg/w-d-xo.html
I've listened to these clips so many times I know most word for word. I don't even listen to him for what he says anymore, I just like to hear his voice. That shit gets me out of bed, gets me to work out when I don't want to, has helped me write that one more line of code which leads to a lot more many times, and other things.
Thata awesome wolf. Like I say in the video he motivates me too. When im tired in the middle of a work out his voice pops into my head and I hear "stop being a little @%=×%". I am now in great shape.
Bro, his message about not having a victim's mentality, pushing yourself as hard as possible, and training the mind and body to keep getting up after being knocked down (literally and metaphorically) has absolutely changed my life. I have accomplished things that I never would have if I had not found out about Goggins. But I never took his message literally like run until I sustain health issues. Just take it with a grain of salt bro. The message is: there is a lot more in the tank than we think, and no matter what our past is, we are capable of being great when we never quit. Good luck with your journey as a therapist bro.
I actually agree with you on his massage and I recognize that he had done a lot of good (as evidenced by the changes you have made). The world is better off with Gogggins that it would be without him. I not dismissing the his impact on the world. Like I said...when I don't feel like working out I tell myself to to get hard! I appreciate you Ryan. Keep up with those changes!
Having an oppressor's mindset isn't health either, and that's exactly what Goggins has. Basically, he's punishing himself constantly. The only way he can feel a sense of self-worth is to constantly prove to himself that he's strong and tough, which, if you couldn't tell by now, is a cycle that never satisfies. It's very clear that without physical activity and strain, this poor guy would crumble emotionally. Even the way he says "bitch" when referring to his internal voice has so much hatred attached to it. Motivating as he may be, he's also very traumatized, fragmented individual who has deep, deep issues surrounding self-love.
@@allenjames6286I’m currently in that cycle right now. Trust me it’s miserable. He probably dealt with extreme loneliness or some pretty bad stuff in the past, and uses this as his coping mechanism. His fundamental feeling of self worth may not be as high as we think it is, so he wants feel valued by emotionally punishing himself constantly
His attitude is 100% what many people need. His brand is not for everyone, but there is a reason why he is a SEAL and many are not. This guilt trip that he sends people on, is what makes girls and boys evolve into men and women. Don't feel sorry for yourself... You should ALWAYS train to be the hardest motherf*cker anyone ever tries to kill. Stay Hard.
MyKel Hawke is an ex US army special forces guy who writes book. I was reading his book on survival skills and came across a piece of advice that helped me out a lot. He said when you're in a survival situation that you should rest as much as possible before moving out. I use that piece of advice every day. When I was in the US army I had mentality that a good night's rest was for the weak. That mentality caught up to me and I had health issues because of it. Now I treat my body a lot better and it pays off. What David Goggins is promoting will lead some people to do bad things to their body they'll regret. There was a guy in my city who was running 10+ miles a day. He wore his joints out so bad now he's got to use a walker to move and he's not an old man.
I totally agree. New research tells us how important sleep and rest are. I think there is a time and place for a Goggins voice but taking it top far does have consequences!! Thanks for watching!!
I totally agree with you, rest is extremely important , I exercise 5 times a week , I know for a fact that if I didn't rest ,my body would be screwed .The fact that David Goggins did the most extreme athletic feats like hell week 3 times or running with a broken kneecap without any rest shows what kind of guy he is , he didn't care that he'll be in pain or his body will get screwed. He just did it , he trained his mind so much that he can indure inhumane amounts of pain .I think thats crazy af
David Goggins is the ideal soldier - in ancient times he would be a king, or lordly chieftain of a mighty culture - he is the physical embodiment of the warriors spirit - the one who will never surrender, never give up or give in - a man with full mastry of his mind, body and spirit - the unity

@@Julian-4 That is a good point. I certainly think I am right in the way that I think but i have changed my mind on a lot of things. But not everything is subjective. I think that there are objective markers to what is good/beneficial. The way he works out is going to negatively affect his health span. But if he wants to do that then he is free to but I just would say that it is not a good thing.
There is a level of masochism and love of pain I think that seems extreme with him. He does make many points though that are good and motivational. David personally is one of my motivators whose voices I allow in my head at times.

Just workout while doing everything that changes in your life to help you grow and get outside. These 2 things alone will help you uncover what you need to fix your life. Cause if you work then you work on gaining muscle, losing weigh/bulking, better diet, more focus on sleep, mood changes, mental strength, you body after a workout has no time to be sad. You body is trying to relax and make sure you are ok, turn your inner pain into anger that is let out in a workout, and once you recover from a the workout day. You actually feel good. For going outside. It common sense that going outside and being in nature will actually help you. Just sitting on a bench is enough just do 5 minutes a day or something like that. You will see a lot of improvement.
He does motivate himself but he did talk about using an unknown and tricking himself into thinking something that may not be true to do so. An effective technique.
Man I am not dismissing his accomplishments. Like I expressed in the video...I am in awe of what he has done! His words are powerful and I use them to motivate me.
He has to show he's records because this guy knows nothing about goggins. He said " don't know" three times. Dude please don't sound fukin stupid. Just don't talk about him. You know nothing.
@Sandra Martinez Know nothing? Ouch! That's harsh Sandra. But now I know thay I know nothing so now I know something so I don't know nothing. In your face. Thanks for watching!
Because words are cheap and don't mean shit. Actions matter. Nothing Goggins said would carry any weight if he didn't have the impressive record to back it up.
I'm not laughin, I get inspired! I live in Sweden so we get 4 seasons, which means I run in every kind of weather you can think of. When I run my trails (sometimes) in knee deep snow, in darkness with a headlight (it gets dark before 3 pm in december) I use my sunny shirtless summer-runs as motivation for those winter-runs. If my legs need more rest I just do more swim and gym-sessions. I do 10-13 sessions/week all year around.
Goggins said many times don't be like him! But be yourself the best in the less day motivated! Thats the way you overcome everything! He's a true fighter, a true hero!
David Goggins said something in his 1st book that is so simple yet profound and when you see it in print you realize it can change the trajectory of your life...He basically says motivation is bulls***. It comes and goes. It's fleeting. it's discipline that wins out 100 times out of 100 times. Meaning, make good habits a habit. Make it like it's brushing your teeth. Eventually you ignore all of the yellow and red lights trying to stop you from doing something. Example, "it's cold and rainy, i'm not motivated to go out there today for a run." The disciplined person says, "its Tuesday, and I'm running." They ignore all of the variables that might make them stay in bed and their body just acts. That's the difference between being average and being excellent in my humble opinion.
Thanks for the clarification. I admit I don't completely know what David is about and I haven't read any of his books. I don't disagree with what you said. Thanks for watching!
@@danielchu if you get a chance, read the book "can't hurt me." I've been to a psychologist before. It was a positive experience. However, the information I got out of the book has gone further than any one tool given by my Psychologist. Pretty amazing
Goggins saved me, genuinely. I used to be 90kg at 13, couldn't even do knee pushups, when i first ran a month in training, i barely got 100 meters. Now i'm running half marathons, doing one arm pushups and i'm 75kg after a year of disciplined training.
Congratulations Glatz. That is amazing. Congratulations and keep going. I get a lot of comment like this and it is evidence that David is a force for good in this world. Blessings!
i love Goggins. Granted we aren't looking to be navy seals, but just imagine if most of the population have the fraction of the mentality Goggins has. Not too many dwelving on victim mentality and more on having a disciplined mind to attain your aims and goals, always moving forward, because having that discipline to move forward feels so much better than airing your stuff out on someone. you stop looking for that justification and validation from outside that you get whenever you tell your problems to people. You drop it and move forward, always with your next steps.
Nowadays everybody has an opinion.... If I am at the same level of achievement of someone I will definitely have an opinion on their methods, but if not, I will remain quiet and just learn, there is always something to learn and apply to my life that will make me stronger.
LOL! That's not the first time someone has called me sweet but it is certainly the first time I have been called sparkles. Do you really want an answer to your question because I'll answer if you want! Either way thanks for the comment Daniel. Sexy name!!
I think Goggins point in all of this is….we try to run away from suffering. But when u do everything you “think” is good for yourself….you still end up suffering. Might as well embrace that feeling because on the other side is greatness. While we’re debating if it’s “healthy” or not he’d rather this version of himself than the 300 pound version “loser” as he calls it that he was.
Can’t help but sense some irony and smugness in your tone, but I’m glad you respect his message, I believe that is his whole idea, he takes it too far but you shouldn’t, but its great to have a force that fights against modern “excuses for everything” culture, in the real world that doesn’t care about your feelings I’d rather listen to goggins than to people that applaud weakness and support being full of excuses
A few things I've seen with these guys is that they often push their limits so far that they think they really have no physical limits.... therefore they go till injury and often go right back too quick and get injured again. When they are 75 years old they will still think they have no limits physically. I know of one guy that dislocated his shoulder and had to be sedated to put it back in then he went back the next day and did the very same activity with exactly the same result.... dislocated shoulder.... sedated to put it back.
That is rough. It is cool when you're young but when you get older and your health is fragile then you really pay the price. If David were my friend I would try and get him to slow down for his future. Thanks for watching Phil!
If theres anything that you want to take away from goggins is this : next time your running an hour and think you did too much you deserve a rest you studied 2 hours straight and you think you may have overworked yourself remembre this Goggins ran 39 hours straight and is still alive today , your human potential is way higher than you think he did it so you know you can too , now stop the bitch inside and push harder if you still wondering how much is too much when you reach your absolute max you will drop and feint so aim for that and i assure you that line is way further than you think🙂

Good analysis. The lacking of initiations, role models and the fear of not being significant breeds extremes like goggins. The mindset of being in a constant battle, always pushing your body to the limits is in my opinion a trace of a trauma.
He's a Marine, they are trained to the extreme for battle to kill people, they are not like normal people who go dog walking and wash the car of a weekend.
Well so be it, if its a sign of trauma atleast it pushed him to become one of the most influential people on earth, if he walked around and cried that "Bohooo i have trauma" he wouldn't be here today
This was the first video I saw when I searched “David Goggins hate” on TH-cam. I actually can kind of understand what you’re feeling and I don’t know why you’re the first video that pops up, you don’t hate this guy. i think i see what you mean by you can’t help but laugh… I know you’re not laughing at him or with him, but i remember when I first saw Goggins: First thing I said was “really dude?” And I never understood his motive. I thought it was another influencer who wanted fame like everyone else. 4 years later, I read “Can’t Hurt Me” and I’m blown away. I see the world in a new perspective and I understand that it’s not Goggins, Peterson, and Tate purposely preaching this stuff. They are LIVING this stuff. Goggins literally says that he doesn’t care your identity, matter of fact is you’re human and you’re able to exceed beyond your expectations. it’s such a fantastic message to society nowadays but we’re so hung up on being comfortable that we don’t end up reaching that 100% Good review of him though, hopefully you read his book and can dissect his mindset along with your own. Goggins was physically abused for most of his childhood. His behavior is a trauma response. It’s self-harm. He made the most out of his situation, but takes it too far. He runs twice a day and it appears he sees his value in enduring abuse. As long as he abuses himself harder than he was abused as a child he feels in control.

You cant solve all your problems by working out all the time while it helps and is good for you at the end of the day somethings in your mind need to be acknowledge properly, in the rigth way by discussing it or some how clearing them out, the mind is another aspect of being a human and talking about whats going on in the mind is the way to go about them!

Theres a problem when you ignore pain too much. If you run 20+ miles a day and you ignore the digns of shin splints youre going to develop a stress fracture and guess what you cant run with a stress fracture. Change is hard so I give respect when it is due. Also I take no offense to anything you wrote. I actually really appreciate the push back and I enjoy the back and forth!

He never takes anything with a grain of salt
@@allenjames6286 he is an extremely depressed guy who feels alive by burning himself with his torturous training methods.
Stay Hard.
David is that you?!!?
So basically you just want to be miserable

He is not saying he tells himself a lie to motivate himself. He pushes himself farther than to the easy point.
He does motivate himself but he did talk about using an unknown and tricking himself into thinking something that may not be true to do so. An effective technique.

Sure there is reward but it also comes with a price!! Thanks for watching my friend!

Goggins was physically abused for most of his childhood. His behavior is a trauma response. It’s self-harm. He made the most out of his situation, but takes it too far. Let's pretend what David is doing is healthy for himself.... But I've heard this quote "progress no matter what is just like cancer" if you keep working to grow more all the time, you may be damaging yourself, so I guess, have a limit guys.
Thanks for the quote brother! Blessings!
His rhetoric doesn’t need tailoring cause it “might harm people” those people need to get harder
Is there a "too hard "? 🤔
Theres a problem when you ignore pain too much. If you run 20+ miles a day and you ignore the digns of shin splints youre going to develop a stress fracture and guess what you cant run with a stress fracture. And also its been shown that endurance exercise in excess is bad for the heart i.e heart arrhythmias
Man I agree. I worry for David! Thanks for the comment!
You're the one trying to be perverted about his motto. "You will never meet someone doing better than you put you down" -Gog
Yeah, my mind is in the toilet sometimes. I would apologize, but it wouldn't be genuine because I like being a degenerate. Lol! Thanks for watching and for commenting.
Funny as hell but got me to change my life
Hey he can do both! I'm glad you were able to change your life brother! Keep kicking butt!
The fact he says “licensed therapist” slowly to introduce himself and then proceeds to laugh at Goggins when he says intense things that makes him uncomfortable says everything I need to know about this dude. Wokism
I don't know Rouser...it doesn't seem like I'm the one who's triggered! 🤔
Saw three 6s as likes, immediately knew I was in the wrong place. ✌🏾
John you have to get it up to 777! LOL! Thanks for watching!
I thought the same thing. This “therapist” brings nothing but negative energy
@user-cc7yo6dm9b hey why do you have to put therapist in quotes?!
@@danielchu You’re so proud of your title, I love it.
@@user-cc7yo6dm9b I did earn it!
Sacrifice is as YOU said incomprehendable , You can't judge it WITHOUT experience it FOR YOURSELF. Have you 🤔
Maybe i have...
Great video
😭😭😭 Thank you whatever!!!!
I thino being a doctor myself . Therapists are no more than people who think they know better what is good for other people.
Isn't that what a doctor is?
@@danielchu no offence. but personally i think therapists are only partially useful. sometimes a complete waste of money. because in the end the one with the problems has to solve it on their own. therapists can maybe show a way to the ''solution'' whatsoever. but the one who has to take the action is the person with the problem. and you never know how actually BAD their problem are or how they're actually feeling / suffering because you've only experienced you. cruel world we live in, yep but the truth is we live in our OWN worlds individually and the only ones that can fix whatever's broken is ourselves.
@@TheLegendA51 No offense taken. I actually agree with you Legend. I think at times therapists can be a waste of time and money. I have been that therapist plenty of times. I have stopped meeting with clients (after agreeing to of course) when I felt like they didn't need it or it wasn't going anywhere. I don't want people to waste their time and money. I can't fix people's problems. It is the responsibility of the person to do the work and make the changes. But I do have training and skills to help people like you said. I appreciate the thoughtful response.
Therapy is a scam
Very much a toxic 'bootstraps mentality' that he promotes, if you think about his material in a social and political context...
I never thought about it in that way! Thanks for watching and commenting, Emma! You are the ish!!!!
I knew a therapist that started crying after 3 weeks of isolation 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LOLL! What a wuss. Thanks for watching.
@@danielchuI had to tell her to STAY HARD!!
Please do your research on this Guy Daniel
There is so much more to learn about him
Lol. You're not wrong, Pascal. I just wanted to react to some clips because they seemed so extreme to me. I did not mean to cast any shade. Thanks for watching!!
@@danielchu you aren’t putting any shade on him . He is a very sort of extreme guy. But that being said he comes from a dark place , ( I only looked at the podcast’s with him at joe rogan mostly)
@pascaldegroot9740 yes everyone has been telling me to read his book. I'm not much of a reader but I may have to pick it up.
Masculinity has been lost for a lot of men, and he inspired man to be great and hard. As I can see you are talking with your feelings just as a women would, you as a therapist a field for women you are now in your feminine energy and don’t comprehend what the message is.
Come and say that to my face...kidding! I am all for masculinity and I do appreciate what David has done for young men. Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
I think you’ll get less backlash by laughing less. You need to understand that some people come from below the bottom. Great channel hope you can grow it with lessons from goggins.
Yomama! I appreciate the feedback and the new perspective. I will be the first to admit I don't know it all and I certainly wouldn't want to put anyone down who was inspired by David. Blessings my brother.
I just imagine who these people who finished before Goggins in marathons.
Also savages! Thanks for watching T Bay!
