Former Wicked Tuna captain believed dead in OBX

- A boater and dog were found dead about two miles south of Oregon Inlet early Monday, while the Coast Guard said it was still searching for a missing person. The boater is believed to be former Wicked Tuna boat captain Charlie Griffin.

One of the Duck Dynasty guys visited Savannah TN and spoke at the football stadium. WBBJ in Jackson sent a crew to cover it. They showed one video shot of the crowd. None of the star speaker. Total morons.

They say he left with someone else but don't state whether that person is missing or dead or safe.
They show a boat in the surf, but don't mention anything about it.
About the only thing clear about this report was that they had trouble starting the engine.

Oregon Inlet is about as treacherous a transit as any. Many a man has come to grief crossing that bar. RIP captain.
Catastrophic electrical failure is possible. What is considered "No severe weather" in the Graveyard of the Atlantic is what people elsewhere call "rough seas"

Working in a marina with 525 boats and cruising over 10,000 miles on our sailboat I'm always surprised at other boaters lack of knowledge. You should understand every aspect including safety, operations, repair, recovery including a dinghy or life raft with a ditch bag. You have to know how to repair and maintain your own boat or never leave the marina. Something as simple as a fuel filter and bleeding a diesel fuel system is mandatory. You always need a backup plan and an epirb.
Have you entered or exited the Oregon inlet in winter? Then you have no idea. How about some empathy
@@bobmuniak2903 There are obviously billions of locations I've never been. Still no excuse for not being prepared. We have had to heave to in total darkness, divert course, surf into channels, spend two days in 15 to 20 foot seas, take a slip in a river, deal with a spinnaker wrap, been hit by a whale, had our anchor chain drug by a dolphin, wait for tide changes, pull boats off sand bars, make diesel repairs at sea, take a knockdown, tether myself on deck to reduce sail at night, dragged anchor in extreme conditions, deal with dead bodies, trade for fish, scallops and lobster and bring school supplies to remote villages. We also worked 4 years on Santa Catalina Island at Two Harbors after retirement where we saw first hand how bad the 50% of boaters are.

@@paddlefar9175 because he doesn't know about the area where the accident happened. He doesn't know what safety gear Griff had. When you roll over in the Oregon inlet, the currents dictate what happens. You go hypothermic in a couple minutes. This was his livelihood. It's a horrible situation and I don't believe a pleasure sailboater can relate with a commercial fisherman

Damn I met him at TWs back in 2018. Told him I was a big fan and he took the time for a pic with me and then we talked fishing for like 20 mins. RIP Griff, you were definitely one of the good ones.

The boat wasn't damaged from the looks of it. Chad is nowhere to been seen. Most likely was some freak incident with a run in with nature but idk. Sad none the less
