    I hate cliff hangers! Dangit! Narrator: Stay tuned for the next exciting episode and see how Jerry defeats his family's plan to keep him completing another mandolin build! Same Jerry time, same Jerry channel!

      +Matthew Brutosky yeah I wish I was about 10 people because we would all 10 be pretty busy. Thank you very much for watching.

    Nice work! I notice you've marked the 14th fret instead of the 15th. Not sure I've seen that before; is there a reason? Really enjoying this series.

      Benedict Nothing you caught me. Looks like I'll have to remake that fretboard. I've been so busy with all the interruptions I've just been hurrying through everything and I just sure I drilled the hole in the wrong spot.

    Love watching your explanation and artistry. What size and make of fret wire have you found works best?

    You really make everything in the mandolin, right down to the Gibson style truss rod Nut, it's a pleasure watching you make this Custom Rosa Mandolin, thanks for Posting these videos.

    buying fretboards already slotted rules out the rule of 18, equal temperament vs intonation figuring, I did a video on this a while back and been buying fretboards ever since lol very good work Jerry!

    Going through your build.
    Thanks for the videos!
    Maybe with your new help, these videos can be put in a playlist. Would help the next *BING WATCHER* .
    I never build an instrument. However, I've learned a lot watching and listening to you!
    *THANKS!*

    Could you not just buy the fretboard already slotted and wired.

    If you're splitting hairs, it's about 3 to 4 hairs. Glad I wasn't drinking anything when you said that. I've got a build coming up that will have an Ebony board on it. And I will be buying that preslotted. But because I rarely use "normal" fretboard wood I tend to slot my own. Always fun to see how other folks do things, Thanks Jerry. Looking very good.

    Yes I screwed up. The 15th dot, is in the 14th fret. Will be making a whole new fretboard but it won't be filmed.

      I think also the 10th should be on the 9th. Well on guitars it is the 9th, guess on mandos too

      Hey Jerry...oops, what a shame after such great work over several days :(( But will you be able to salvage the frets and binding at least? Greetings from a fan of your videos in Hong Kong - can't be too many of us out here ;-)

    I remember in a previous video, you said that since you laminate three pieces of wood to make the neck, your mandolins do not have a truss rod. Am I mis-remembering that?

    Jerry, I was wondering what that gizmo is under your home made thickness sander? The round table that adjusts up and down....?

    I always enjoy your videos but I noticed an error in this one:
    At 20:27 you say that you have a 5/16 inch nut in the lathe and it will work on a 3/16 inch rod. I may not know much about building mandolins but I do know that a 3/16" rod will have 3/16" or #10 thread and a 5'15" nut will have a 5/16 thread :-)

    • @RosaStringWorks
      @RosaStringWorks  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There may be a misunderstanding on the way I said what I said the nut on the outside is 5/16 the rod that I threaded with a number 10 thread is a 3/16 inch rod the whole inside the 516 since nut is approximately 3/16

    • @SidecarBob
      @SidecarBob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You said "I have a 5/15 inch hex nut chucked up in here". No mention of that being the outside size. I am involved with several motorcycle forums and hardly a month goes by without someone snapping off an M6 screw that has a 10mm head because they tried torquing it to the spec for an M10. I know that isn't likely to happen on the mandolin but it is a bad habit.

    I'm just curious (off topic)... I've just found that you live in Missouri. And since this belongs to tornado alley, I wonder, if you ever had trouble with tornados. Or at least, if you are worried about them. To me, this is the most fascinating weather phenomenon on earth and scary as hell at the same time. Cheers from Germany! (Obviously going to be the next tornado alley if that will continue like it does in the last years...)

    • @RosaStringWorks
      @RosaStringWorks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen the damage caused by lots of tornadoes but I've never actually been in one. I've seen one or two in my life from a very far distance.
