Great review! I love this movie! I definitely agree about the 3D though. This should’ve been an incredible 3D experience but it’s very subpar. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has MUCH better 3D but sadly it’s the theatrical cut and not the superior 3 hour ultimate cut. Out of all the recent DC movies that have 3D releases, Aquaman is the king 👍🏻 absolutely amazing 3D!
Nice one Tommy. I saw it in the cinema in 2D and was so bored by the tedious neverending destruction in the final reel (final ten reels?!) that I still haven't bothered to watch my 3D copy yet. You haven't really encouraged me to! All the best mate.

I really don’t recommend the 3D one bit though if you’re super bored one day and want to see how disgraceful a conversion it is then give it a bash

Henry Cavill was also in Mission Impossible 6, which was a pretty good 3D movie.
Too bad it can't be purchased on a physical Blu-ray, but at least it's out there.
My favorite Superman movie! I was a bit skeptical when they first cast Henry Cavill for the role, but now I think nobody else could have done it better. Great review! I agree with many of the points you made. Maybe not a perfect movie, but pretty close. I found the 3D to be pretty average, but of course would've been great if it was excellent to match the movie quality.

Good review , its a good superman move but only average 3d ,but for me i am a Christopher Reeve superman 1978 fan, Henry Cavill does a Good job but for me this is a superman 1and 2 combined movie and it does not live up to the 1978 version for me .

Saw the movie in 2D, own in 3D but don’t like the movie overall.
That being said I really enjoy Russell Crowe’s performance as Jor-El, very reminiscent of his role as Maximus some 13 years earlier in gladiator (at least in my opinion).
When I first watched a movie I wanted to turn it off within the first half hour because my argument was when did krypton become Pandora (James Camerons avatar planet).
Not only that wasn’t too keen on Michael Shannon’s version of Zod, I didn’t see him as threatening at all, in fact I saw him was comical, the thing that got me was the whole I will find him line.
In addition to liking Russell Crowe in this movie, conversely I also liked Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/superman, he’s definitely in my top three with Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh.
I just find Tom Welling (Clark Kent in Smallville) somewhat serviceable although I did like seeing him share a screen with Christopher Reeve in an episode of the second season of Smallville.

No I completely agree the movie is fantastic but this has one of the worst 3D on a blu-ray I have seen for a while. I would actually rather watch this in 2D personally because I feel that If there's hardly any 3D to watch might aswell watch the 2D but overall amazing film Henry does a fantastic job as a modern superman. Great review mate.

Awesome film, awesome score, great take on Clark Kent and Superman, but the 3D is a little disappointing. But it is disappointing only because it could have been spectacular. I'm surprised at the negativity about the 3D though. Much of this film that is a little flat, but the 3D does come alive in the final 3rd of the film. Check out timestamps 1:45 and 1:49:19 onwards, very obviously 3D all the way through those scenes. These scenes and others are the best DC 3D after Aquaman. I think with 3D, the better it is, the less dependant it is on your equipment. I've seen that great 3D looks good on all equipment, but nice 3D like in the last 3rd of this film may not.
Hi Tommy - I agree with you - good story but disappointing 3D. Soundtracks just get too loud after you’ve watched your 50th superhero film. The importance of ‘less is more’ especially on the sound, demonstrated, for example, by 2 very good recent film, ‘A Quiet Place’ and ‘The Invisible Man’…alas not available in BluRay 3d.
I remember seeing this in the cinema and for majority of it I could take off my glasses and see no diff , was the most disappointing film I’ve ever seen in the cinema in 3D , truly awful which was a shame as I like the movie . I avoided the Blu ray on that basis for many years then saw it in store for $2 equivalent , read some online reviews saying the Blu ray actually had better 3D than the cinema so I bought it and not sure what they class as good 3D but was just as awful , consistently flat throughout and it’s a long ass movie , no need to have the glasses on for it at all in my opinion but I’m happy to have the disc but I’ll stick to the 2D.
Yeah… I popped this in for 2 minutes and the 3D was a huge disappointment.
