M1 is made for specific reasons(Battery Efficiency and Performance) and it's totally meant for laptop. It should not be compared with other prominent (desktop) processors instead it can be compared with previous macbooks or mac mini. 2. Apple made a real innovation by making ARM architecture suitable in laptop which was previously used in Smartphones and Raspberry Pi. This made battery efficiency, thermal efficiency and performance possible simultaneously. 3. Many of the Softwares are compiled to work in x86 Architecture so current M1 processors use binary translators to convert those softwares and make it work in ARM. So, the performance doesn't makes sense now. 4. It takes some more years for full software compatibility in ARM architecture and users currently face some petty issues. So, it's better to wait for some months before buying 2020 M1 MBA/MBP. 5. It's a good innovation and it took more than 4 years to happen. It is best for which reason it was created.
