I love the idea of the second day only working in small group with the students who still need more work on the skill. In student teaching our guided reading groups vary in whether they meet with a teacher 1, 2, or 4 days a week. I’m curious how my literacy time will look when I start my first year teaching this fall!
@@jakethiringer1698 best of luck to you as you hunt for a position :) I'm planning on coming out with an Interview Tips video later this spring, hopefully that will help :)
Great video! I love the idea of your language arts notebook. I was wondering, do you use a journal or some sort of folder to keep all students writing pieces stored? Also, do you teach different types of writing (procedure, narrative, expository, etc). I’m struggling with trying to teach a variety of writing types.
Hey Donna, great questions! I have an ELA duotang, ELA Notebook (With reading/writing/grammar sections), and we have a Morning Message notebook and Journal notebook. Any writing pieces we are working on gets stored in their ELA duotangs. Their ELA Notebooks are simply to create mini posters to reference all year long. Morning Message is a simple Hilroy notebook that they use every morning to practice editing or identifying grammar concepts within the message, and we do journal free-writing everyday after lunch for 10 minutes :). I absolutely teach different writing types. It's all covered in my Writer's Notebooks within the different topics. I have procedural writing, expository, narrative, poetry, paragraph, newspaper article, friendly letter, and more.
Donna, I have just discovered your videos! I am curious about the ELA notebooks you referred to where the students create mini posters throughout the year. Are you willing to share that resource? If you've already shared it, where could I find it? Thank you. :)
Hi, not sure which Donna you are referring to but I’m Maryana with 3 Peaks Classroom. My ELA notebooks are available for purchase from my TPT store, 3 Peaks Classroom. The link is in the description.
This is FULL of golden information!
