@@dannyboyle603I mean, not necessarily. Comedians do tours with each other or perform at the same venue together all the time, there’s just not very many shows like this in the US. Most popular game shows are hosted by a comedian or actor but the contestants are average people. Celebrity jeopardy, celebrity wheel of fortune, or something like the masked singer would probably be the closest idea to something like this you could find.

So like, I am American but have been watching this show for a really long time and know about the show, as well as the In Betweeners, but havent seen any Man Down epoisodes, just a few clips around when Rik Mayall passed. A good amount of Gen X Americnas know Rik Mayall because MTV used to play the Young Ones sometime in the very early 90's, but how many of that group would know about Man Down I don't know. And other than Drop Dead Fred millenials and Zoomers by and large don't really know that much about Rik Mayall.
TaskMaster, Would I Lie to you, and 8 out of ten cats does countdown are gaining a decent American following. (Actually Graham norton clips get a lot of traction as well) TH-cam is helping a lot. But a lot of cultural references just get missed.

Probably the same reason as the previous story: guessing that there were truths wrapped around a lie.

It always irritates me when Lee scoffs at the guy being the head of languages. 5:32. You do know Austrian people are normally fluent in about 4 languages by default, then add on any they might choose to learn. I think an Austrian would be the ideal choice for the head of languages regardless of his vegatable pronunciation.

It annoys me too, he'd forgotten that other languages exist. He wasn't the English teacher. Not that I'd like the joke better that way anyway.

Shame Greg didn’t call it ‘The Hoot Owl Of Trauma’ ‘cos the acronym (which all the comedians missed) would have been H.O.O.T.

Germans are so earnest, he really captures this cultural trait with his storytelling! "Wir must go, wir are late for our next appointment!". I work with a German lady who is lovely, but she is totally like that! 😄

It's not a German cultural trait to be "on time", it's a stereotype. I've lived in Germany and the majority of people are late, just like anywhere else in the world

And you're so thick you don't understand that the throne is a joke as part of the slight character he is playing on ' Taskmaster '. The whole point is HE is the unreasonable, arrogant taskmaster, that's not who he is all the time.
