I got lucky 30 yrs ago when I found " Chord Chemistry " in a small music store in France. Bought it on a hunch after paging through it. Changed my life and my playing forever.
@Nick Stasinos... I cannot thank you enough for sharing the videos of your lessons with Ted Greene. It's so generous of you to allow those of us who never had a chance to study with the Chord Chemist himself to have a closer look into his musical world. I think you sharing these seems to be in alignment with Ted's ideas on sharing musical knowledge. Not everyone can afford private lessons or tuition to study at college or university. Thanks so much 🙏 ✌😉🎼🎶🎸
Nick, thank you so much for posting this series of videos. They are extremely useful when looking at Ted's unique approach, especially through his breaking down the work of another master like Wes. As ever, I suspect that these videos will help countless guitar players open up to some of the possibilities on the instrument. BTW, he seems like such a humble and self-effacing man - Viva Ted Greene!
Somewhere in time (pertaining to guitar people) I came up with a saying... "Ego and talent, someone with little of one usually has a lot of the other"... I often give the example of Ted Greene, one of the most talented and ego-less people I have ever met.
@@nickstasinos its synchronous with what im doin over here! I wanna say Teds books are amazing and it pays off to just memorize the stuff in them cold turkey. Takes at least a week per page haha
Love and appreciate these videos so much! They would be even better without ad interruptions. Is there a version without ads, or perhaps a way to place the ads so they aren’t as disruptive to the flow of conversation? Thanks again to all involved in making this available to the public!
Mark Harris, according to Barbara, his beloved partner in life, Ted didn't believe in charging too much for his lessons, mainly in the name of sharing knowledge and making the world a better place through music. Also, he believed sharing his knowledge should be something affordable to the common fellow and never make him stand apart unreachable... I wish I had had the privilege to have studied with him... A true humble master!
Seriously. I'd like to see the progression of where that student ended up if he followed along with those lessons. Kinda crazy hearing him barely able to grip chords and he's got Ted teaching him things that are flying right over his head
How about a new Nobel Prize category just for Ted Greene's off the charts I.Q., his patience, humanity, caring and a teacher supreme.
He should definitely have a beer named after him. The size of his written exercises alone.
"There's so much guitar to know. Nobody has an idea when we first start." What truthful, and humbling, words.
Norman's book on the guitar business tipped me off about Ted Greene. What an absolutely sublime human being and player.
“Flamenco cat” - love it.
You know your stuff Man
Thank you Cesar and Nick for giving us more Ted. Besides the vast amounts of knowledge about all music, such a fantastic teacher and likeable guy.
If I had this video abt 30 yrs ago it would’ve saved me a couple of decades of struggling. Love ya Ted

Ayy video evidence Ted Greene had love for shred guitar
This guy was omega level in his knowledge of jazz guitar. I would have never made it. It's such a complex beautiful language, incredible player.

I think Paco de Lucia sweeps in the modes/arpeggios of the harmonic minor. just a crude guess.
Is that it? We don't have next part...
TG should easily have been awarded a MacArthur Genius grant but no all those went to ‘others’ criminal
turkeys gobbling in dorian.
Instant Classic
The notes were not neglected by Mr. Green!
and now... for that quick express flight to greenich village :)
Incredible thing: he plays a short sample of a song - and then the rhythm goes for dozens of seconds on even if he speaks.
Remembering teachers who smoked all the way through my lessons..

Not sure who the student v producer/camera/sound are, but I sure hope Ted got paid a huge sum back then for this monster lesson !!..
