I used to float fish when I was a child. I’ve haven’t fished since I was maybe 10yrs old. I am obsessed with fly fishing but have never done it. This video is the reason why I have now completed a purchase on a reel to complete my first set up at 37yrs old. Real people, no sugar coating, sharing their passion. Thank you so much

I can't put into words how this touched me. I was a fly fishing bum when I was younger slept in my truck and explored so many of these places. Life, as it often does, put other responsibilities and changed my priorities I would still get on the water some but not much. My son is now away at college and he sneaks away when he can to fly fish, and now his energy is mine. I have recently gone back to my roots, pulled out my old gear, tying more flies and all I think about is getting back to all of these places. Thank you so much for this.

We must be twins, lol. That's almost exactly my story, sleeping in my truck, traveling, fishing, etc. Then college (late bloomer) law school and responsibilities. These days I'm 56, fishing my but off and enjoying life!

I started fishing many of these places as a teenager in the late 70s. An excellent documentary. I'll always be thankful for the beautiful Catskills.

There are a lot of people missing out, that’s all I’m going to say. This sport, hobby, or obsession truly saved my life, and made the lives of those closest to me better in many ways, and thus, just like many of the anglers shown in this film I am grateful that I slowed down enough in life to enjoy it. Great film, and hope many more see it!

I live in Northern California. We had a terrible spill on the Upper Sacramento in the 90s. Our waters are precious and so valuable. This was a great film. Joan is my hero, I try to improve my not so great fly casting as much as possible. Her instructional vids are incredible. Thank you for this wonderful film!

I live down in Orange County, but I took a ride up to the Beaverkill on a whim in early May, about 15 years ago. Got there at 2:30pm, Carin’s Pool. When I looked upstream around 3pm I saw an enormous swarm of Hendricksons rolling downstream towards me. Love the Hendrickson hatch. Also had very many good times on the lower Neversink with that fly.

I live in Nfld. Where Lee and Joan Wulff had fishing camps for many years! Trout fishing here is still mostly for wild fish and Brook trout still thrive here! I am so lucky to be here!

There are some bold claims here. No the Catskills are not the closest trout streams to Philly. The Poconos offer up some fly fishing well on par with what these streams offer and also lay claim to some stream dating to the birth of fly fishing. Not to say the fishing isn't beautiful but there are other great mountain streams with awesome trout populations an hour east of NYC and 90 minutes north of Philly.

An amazing, honest and beautiful film.
The rest of the world sees the USA through the lens of its politicians, pop stars, movies, TV celebrities and gun-wielding crooks of the big cities.
Films like this remind us to look past the stereotype to see the real US. What a great bunch these real Americans are; they love their river, their fish and their culture and speak of it with reverence and class. I just hope you can save these real places and real people from the big business money men, politicians, war mongers, liars and thieves.

I worked for an older guy that had a place in the Catskills. He took me fishing there in 1988 or 1989. Ever since that trip, this has been my special place and where 95% of my vacation time has been spent. Been fortunate enough to fish with a couple famous anglers and got to know many of the guides. Been to the sugar shack and it was quite an experience LoL. Rob is exactly what you see. He lives to fish. Marty is a top rated guy. Ben is as good of a dude as you will ever meet and an amazing knowledge base for that system. All of this has left a mark on me and got me to guide in my free time over the last 6-7 years. Passing along what others were kind enough to share with me.
I probably only have 10-15 more hatch seasons left and you can bet that I will spend them chasing some of the toughest fish you will ever find.

Don't worry. NYC will suck the water out of the area eventually.
