- In 2019, Andy Murray and Serena Williams teamed up in what was possibly the coolest mixed doubles partnership of all time at a slam. Despite losing in the third round Murrena (or SerAndy) gave us some memorable moments we will never forget.
I think Venus is the reason Serena is the best player of all time. Serena's competitiveness to beat her sister has made her one very tough cookie.
I totally agree with you but remember, their father said when they were young that Serena was probably better than Venus. At that time, Venus was starting to emerge through the amateur ranks and Serena was following closely behind.
Thank you for this wonderful comment. SHE IS THE BEST TENNIS PLAYER OF ALL TIME. Also this proves that there is literally no gap between mens and womens tennis as far as skills go. I saw absolutely no problem with the women returning the men's serve. So is Serena just as good as the men.. ABSOLUTELY YES, if not BETTER. Please put respect to her name.

Unfortunately this is not possible. Great players usually have to play 5-6 rounds of single games each tournament. Their body is just not capable of recovering if they have to play mixed doubles at the same time. The price money isn't worth it.
Their doubles coupling was a once-in-a-lifetime event. The entire stadium would've gone nuts if they had won the event.

Each of these are simply exquisite. She is a true master of technique. Calling her a power player diminishes her skill. Her opponents know she is a heck of a lot more than just power.

I'm SO GLAD the return at 11:38 was included. Serena TEED OFF. When she connects with that forehand crosscourt there's no hitting it back. And let's be honest - at Wimbledon 2019 she peaked in this match against Atawo and Martin. She wasn't able to reach this level again when she needed to against Simona (that and Simona played the match of her life). This was such a fun partnership and I know fans would love to see it again.
the next matchup should be Serena and Roger... that would break the tennis world...

My favorite mixed doubles pairing of all time. They were phenomenal. I wanted them to win so badly but I am grateful for the tennis they gave us. Maybe one day they'll pair up again.

I know they didn't win this year, but serena's doubles achievements are why she's the goat to me and I don't know if anyone will truly surpass her. she has the same number of singles grand slams as djokervic, but something like 15 more doubles grand slams, which she won at the same time as she was winning all those singles titles. to me that's pure dominance - none of the big 4 men have won a single doubles grand slam, let alone the same tournament they won the singles!

What we normally overlooked is both Andy and Serena are second child compared to their older siblings who got some success before they did. Of course in a different magnitude now and it's not a direct comparison, but they do have that in common and make them ultra ultra competitive. So yeh, Venus made Serena a better player. Jamie Murray (Andy's older brother who's got 7 double grand slams) also played a part in Andy's magnificent journey to the top.

Serena returns are so good because she watches the server like a hawk. I remember when she played against Roger, both of them didn’t return well against each other because they both disguise their serve so well. They even admitted as much.

serena has done it multiple times, a few examples are in this video only.
People who are commenting here, male and female players cannot be compared. And in no way a female player is better than a male player! See, ofcourse there is physical differences between the male and female players. Taking that into account, the male players having those physical advantages are competing with the players having same level of advantage. Still, being better players than their counterparts is what differentiates them. Same with female players.
Now what makes Serena another level of player is her absolute domination over her female counterparts. Plus, her level sometimes reaching to that of male players irrespective of their obvious physical advantage over her. The physical difference is also why a male player can't win a grandslam being pregnant as she did.
Taking all this, it is obvious that Serena is on the top of this game.
And I personally consider Serena as the GOAT of tennis. Because all the numbers and records will be replicated by future players. But no one will reach the level, entertainment and impact that she has produced in this game, plus the numbers. The Williams sisters have fundamentally shifted the sport for good. This change is already visible in the game in terms of change in the demographic of the audience as well as the players, and the quality of the game.

you can't exactly compare male and female players as there are some factors that biologically make them different like power and dimensions, but other than that, skill, court sense, angles, technique mental toughness are areas where serena was definitely outshining the others, I mean, lets not downplay Serena Williams lol.
