Yes! Especially if he wants to branch out in other sports like obviously hockey is his bread and butter but I would love to see him branch out and maybe try doing like a baseball show or a football show just to see if he can branch in other sports.

Babcock in the past would frequently go out of his way to mention guys coming from "good families" for some reason. Why does it matter to him and what is that saying about players whose life might be more complicated than that?

@@kYA00h I don't think anyone is arguing that upbringing isn't a factor in who you are, but that works both ways too, as in stories of perseverance. This isn't an element somebody in Mike's position should be commenting and fixating on as like this virtue on the guy's character.

Appreciate the conversation about the post NHL career challenges that players face. It’s good to hear the NHL and the NHLPA is trying to help players with this transition. I think hockey players that left home at 16 and barely graduated high school (if they went the major junior route) are particularly vulnerable post career.

I would like to take it a step further. In my opinion, a cell phone these days (and computers, tablets, etc.) is what is used to communicate your personal thoughts and conversations with people, and, therefore, should be protected under my right to remain silent and not be allowed to be searched even under a warrant. Cell phones are useful, but unfortunately the State has determined that they can invade your personal privacy whenever they want, so they are a double-edged sword. Sorry for the rant, haha! Cheers

Right, and furthermore, even a young player who is well aware of his rights would probably feel so intimidated that they would have no choice but to hand over the phone. The law is honestly kind of secondary here. It's the power dynamic that is the biggest issue.

Frank had inherent mental problems that were not exacerbated by Punch. Should Punch have noticed that something was wrong? You bet, so should have Ted Lindsay, and Gordie Howe prior to Punch.
The Big M was always bed ridden when any team he was on, got into a losing streak more than 2 games straight, Hence, the reason that He was never really on a shitty team.
I am a 67 year old Red Wing fan, my whole life. when I was 12 years old, & with other Red Wjng fans from Saskatchewan, we would often talk about Frank Mahovlich performance problems. We did not know if Frank had some mental issues. We were raised as tough Sask. Hockey kids.

Kudos to Paul for putting his reputation on the line for this. He is a decent decent guy. A bit crude. But a big heart. Would I go to work every day and work for a boss like Mike Babcock. No. I would not. I lasted 30 years in the corporate world of banking and big energy companies. And certainly would not put up with bullies. Nor should professional athletes. This issue is not about money. So commentators that make it about money ( i.e. you do not give up your life just because of a big contract) are in my opinion little, envious and cowards. Babcock is a failed wanna be hockey player that managed to get into coaching. I know a bit first hand about him (through family) and he is definitely a passive, aggressive narcissist.

Of course they didnt go to the PA, hockey culture is not rocking the boat, especially as a young players. You don't want to make it an entire official thing by going to the union, so instead you talk amongst yourselves. Its not hard to figure out.
