I've never seen Billy Talent live so I am astounded that Ian can sing like he does in studio, yet be mistake-free on Guitar.

Absolutely incredible!!!! I've watched many of their concerts but damn if this isn't their best. The crowd is absolutely amazing and every note is spot on, especially loved rusted from the rain and diamond on a landmine and of course devil on my shoulder oh man bloody amazing.
Billy Talent best rock band out there for sure!

I really appreciate Ian's skills.
He really plays so perfectly that one time I thought he uses playback live. But he doesn't after all. It's just all skilled playing.
Also I love his way of playing
At this point, he may as well be the 8th wonder of the world.
Ian is a machine. His tone, technique, and style are unique and amazing.

Guys how does Ian get such a good distortion on his guitars. When I try I just get a screaming distortion. I have tried everything I know of to get his sound. Where am I going wrong? I am using a PodXT Live, I am aware Ian uses analogue pedals, but surely I could get his sound somehow?
what sound exactly are you trying to get? which song?
I suggest you try asking it on Reddit, bigger chance of getting an answer there ;)
Ian dose not use distortion if you want his sound or close to it use a fuzz pedal or a ds-1 distortion pedal with a compression pedal
I figured the compression part out, but the fuzz, are you sure? Can you give me some sources
He does use a ton of fuzz, he did a video of his gear, you can find it on youtube

GAH, STOP SPEEDING THE TEMPO UP. Some songs are and some aren't.
Just play it the way it was written... it sounds so much worse when it's sped up
sometimes at festivals they have a certain amount time to get through their set, so they have to play faster
