The problem is this fella asked for permission which means he admits to being a "person". A "person" is a corporate entity to which legislation applies. A "person" in a "dwelling" has a local authority (the council) which he has submitted to, but a "man" in his house has no authority other than his creator.

This kind of thing is happening everywhere. My small city in the USA forced me to sell my car that I had bought and paid for and it had less than 50K miles on it! They said it was because I didn't have a garage to put it in. It was parked in my driveway, on land that I own free and clear. Only one house on this street has a garage. Yet illegals can park four or five cars all over their yards and nothing is said or done about it. All our governments are becoming tyrannical and Marxist!

@@brianlopez8855 Nothing to do with being local or not. In the UK you can't just buy land and build a house on it i. You need Planning Permission from the local council. I've been through the process in England. The rules are to protect the countryside, neighbours and the environment. They do make it near impossible to just build whatever you like but once you have built your house the same rules control what your neighbours can build right next door to you. Mobile homes are to some extent treated like vehicles and don't always need planning permission. But if you convert that mobile home into a permanant building it will require Permission. I don't know who did the work but if he employed a builder the builder almost certainly knew he should get permission before work started.

He can have a temp structure with planning, if they granted it, then he can only stay there for 3 months a year. Same applies to us all.

No money to be made by solicitors, architects, planning permission application, fees, bank mortgages, massively inflated property taxes etc by building a log cabin or pod. The "local needs" planning permission was the start of it.

As an update to this, the judge delayed any ruling for an extra two months while Sean applied for new planning, then as of a few days ago his permit planning were rejected yet again. His local news appears to be following his story and reportedly he had a small crowd cheering for him at the courthouse, even if the rulings have not been going in his favour.
A man tries to provide himself with a home and the county council says "aesthetically it doesn't look right." A man having a home looks pretty good to me.

A privilege was exercised when the property was recorded into the public record. Privileges are taxable but rights are not taxable....unless you volunteer to give up those rights. Any government tax form contains a declaration of "under the penalties of purjury" which when such form is signed, you are giving government authority over you.

Tried and failed for many years to figure out how to buy land and put a wooden cabin, somewhere to live and call our own and not be shackled by a 25 yr loan. I came to find out that while it can be done, most councils will fight you on it. Essentially most councils are opposed because a log cabin ruins the aesthetic of the country side spotted with same-same stone white cottages. It's utter bollocks. Leave the man be and Ireland councils/politicians, get a fecking clue and leave us all be.

You could be right there, they might want to build a housing estate on that site, he should appeal to a higher court of justice that would mean he could stay on his land till the appeal has been heard and he does not have to sell the land to anybody only at a very high price so he can buy a new house.

This government can put tents in the city centre . No facilities for toilets. . not worried about devaluing houses or business. . double standards.
There is no way they are going to let this go how public the story is. The councils are long sold out. The only care about big business hence the asylum crisis. Greed at the expense of Irish lives.

Something needs to be done to establish the crime of hostile abuse from councils.
Appalling that you cant have your own home on your own land. People should drive down to save this mans property when the bulldozers come. Seriously!
