Does anyone know if when you get the customizable version, does the chimes/melodies that come before the line are always on or when you put custom mp3 files it plays just the file itself? i don't want melodies just the greeting

I’m not too sure. I think the newer ones have a shuffle function built in, so it might be turned on currently. Might want to email Import Bible to ask how to switch that option off.
It would require a usb adapter to be hard wired into the reverse light circuit. Amazon has a few different usb outlet options that can be powered by 12v. You could wire one up in the trunk and then have the usb cable go out to the melody box.

Nah. The included usb adapter steps the voltage down to 5v. Pretty much all usb power is 5 volts.

Could always wire in a 12v usb plug and tie into an existing circuit. Amazon sells a few that are affordable and pretty small.

It gets pretty loud! Being covered up might muffle it a bit, but you should still be able to hear it pretty loudly.
