The book starts as the protagonist bragging about murdering a guy for dumping her, then in the same breath goes into boasting about stringing guys along and dumping them when they're in love.
Oh god, you've articulated it so perfectly! I was promised a "villainous romance" but got... cattiness? People pulling pranks, being overly flirtatious, dismissing the severity of murder with zero consequences-nothing that really creates any compelling character beats/arcs that would've gotten me invested in the two leads :/ So glad I discovered your channel! I love the way you break things down so eloquently
Ohhh my God I yelled when you said the thing about the hair dye I mean common you break your nose and change hair color and then you do not recognize your best friend or brother!!!!! I can’t believe it! Thank you for bringing that up Jajajajaj!
Me and a few of my friends read this book, and we LOVED it. The only thing I have to say is that in my opinion, it’s not an enemies to lovers because they never hated each other and they were never going against each other.
@@muskanmangaraj6979 this is probably late, but I’d recommend the cruel prince. Jude is a pretty interesting main character. Not a fan of the romance, but the politics and world is really interesting
Alessandra is exactly like Alora from Daughter of the Pirate King but even more annoying. She was so horny that she stopped caring about killing the guy like immediately because it became more important for him to want her. Not for her plan, but for her ego. It's very The Wrath and the Dawn how she can't kill the dude she set out to kill because she falls for him, although he has no personality and they hardly interact lol
This book was so good it had the dark and romance, and all the twisty things about what it had said. I absolutely loved this book and wished they’re was a second
Exactly I didn't feel like it was enemies to lovers as well. The only reason i think i gave this 4 starts was that I listened to it through an audiobook and it was more enjoyable like this for me . That one more star was for the audiobook if it wasn't for it , I might have given it 3 stars.
I literally got this book as a secret Santa gift yesterday but wasn’t too excited to read it at all, and now after watching this video I feel like I have experienced all that I need, so thank you for this enlightening journey
Lots of good points, but I was confused by your comment that Alessandra does not explain why she killed her ex or how she did it. She does go into a lot of detail about what he did to her and how she covered up her tracks.
There were so many aspects of this book that I was so excited for and had always wanted to read about in a book but I couldn't even finish it in the end...
A big issue for me when reading this book was that i thought the plot was missing context, and not answering the questions and «mysteries» of the book ,but rather overdoing the romance at the end.
i loved this book for what it was!! an easy read that you didn't have to put much thought into. definitely not enemies to lovers but i still loved the characters and the plot twists. i agree with some of what you said but im still in love with this book
Okay... I literally finished this book 30 min ago and give it 5 stars HAHAHAHA I see what you mean, and i agree with almost everything you say but in the moment i didn't notice anything and was really focused on what was happening between the characters...but yeah i think it could have got more dark and explicit in some parts, i wish it would've been a bit longer so we could see the reasons behind their actions. Great review i love seeing other peoples perspectives especially when they have the opposite experience.
This book had popped up on my Instagram surprisingly and I agree, the synopsis made it sound dark and gritty and my kind of book. Glad you shared your thoughts on it! Now I'm in no rush to buy it lol. I have been wanting to read Ninth House by Leaigh Bardugo, I've heard great things!
I read the sample chapters of this book off of amazon because I've heard such mixed things about it… honestly the first few chapters feel like a fanfiction so I have a hard time deciding to buy the whole thing and continue reading
I am considering reading this book because omfg it sounds like such a wild ride, I have a love in my heart for bad enemies to lovers that cannot be defeated. I'm so tempted to get it after all the bad reviews--it sounds right up my alley as a book to hate/love read.
That skit at the beginning 😂 I love it. I actually did pre order this book bc I wanted to go to one of her events and get my other books of hers (that I actually liked) signed. It's really stupid but I knew I wouldn't like this one but I bought it anyway 👀
I was halfway through this book and couldn't bring myself to read it and then i saw your reaction to it and was like nope not gonna bother with that now😂😂 First book i dnfed this year🤧
This sounds so much like a book I read last month called Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. The premise is basically almost the same BUT I think it was executed a lot better. There definitely is the enemies to lovers aspect and I liked it. It had some flaws (it was pretty predictable for example) and I gave it 3/5 Stars, but I‘d recommend it nonetheless :)
I know what you mean by feeling like the book should be adult instead of YA! I've read "They Both Die In The End" - book where people get notified on the day of their death - and I so badly wanted for the story to be darker, have more emotions, more desperation, more philosophical life-reflections, etc., but instead, it was... well, YA, big adventure with a sad ending
I have to say this, I literally just finished this book. It took me so long to read it. I’m not a slow reader I usually read books very fast. Personally, I did not like the writing style at all. To me it felt like a teenager writing the book. I don’t know I couldn’t get into it I tried really hard. Some parts were amazing and other parts or just so boring to me. I really had to force myself to finish reading the book. I don’t really like it. I will definitely give it like three stars.. and that’s like pushing it
I finished this book in a few hours it was almost the opposite for me and I loved the writing style it was very different then others and honestly felt refreshing it was all very fast paced and I loved it!
Totally agree with all the points you made about this book. Luckily I didn't have any expectations going in so I wasn't that disappointed. It was an easy, quick read that I enjoyed. 100% agree it would have been better as an adult novel. Anyone gone any reccomendations for books? 📚 (Preferability like this one with morally grey/ dark characters)
i read tricia’s other books and i really disliked her writing style. i wanted to try this book after i got it in a subscription box but i’m glad i didn’t waste my time with it.
*BOOK SPOILERS****** **look away** *BOOK SPOILERS******* I’m sorry I had to come and defend the book I just finished reading and am offended at the review, certainly not coming for you personally you’re definitely entitled to your opinion but I just want anyone interested in the book to get a positive review as well as negative. I’d easily rate the book a solid 5/5 it’s got the romance without going to far, it’s got mystery and plot twist, also I love the writing style I thought it was great and straight forward. *spoilers here* also in regard to the murder not having more page time I guess you could say, I think that is easily justified as it’s not a major point of the book, and I would argue it makes the book dark because if the characters were greatly affected by it it would show how they are soft but they brush it off as commonplace and normal. This is a great read, easy to digest and in my opinion fantastic. I’m definitely going to get my hands on more Tricia Levenseller books. 10/10
Ifs you want some moment to laugh after so much book trying to have edgy husband for us, you should read Harriet porber and the bad boy parasaurolophus, trans romance, good worldbuild and bizarre characters to love and the only 'bad boy husband' is one that hate be bad but is selfawared so he's Hoping for the character development part to finally be free of being a ass. Chuck tingle is a bizarre author but a good one
I dont agree with you. A writingstyle cant be bad. Never! You can dislike it, but for every person that dont like the style, there is someone that does like it.
I like Tricia Levenseller but for her book Daughter of the Pirate King and it’s sequel - I went looking for more of her works and ya I was a bit disappointed 🥲 where is my enemies to lovers. Also “there is this whole thing about a character not being recognized because they -dyed their hair-“ 😭😭😭honestly hOW did they not realize thoooo
Thank you for making this video ❤️ and thank me for finding it BEFORE I clicked on "purchase" in my wish list 😪 Easy out! 📤 BTW, have you/would you consider other books by the author? Any good rep from those?

Wow I’m late, but that’s because of Hektor. He hurt her and now she doesn’t want to feel love anymore and so she basically turned into Hektor
I’m literally in LOVE with this whole ass book and just everything about it the whole plot and I love the characters

I came for the book, I stayed for your personality 🥺
you are literally the silliest, most creative person ever in the best way possible 😌🌿
You could said that this book is merely a *_shadow_* of it's former self. It was foreshadowed.
Hahaha.
I usually enjoy characters that have a dark side. But I found her annoying and hated how she felt like she was owed everything. I just didn't care.
Do you know any good fantasy romance which has characters with dark side?

Love the Van Gogh in the background :) Which is a natural choice of course. Currently reading a Van Gogh bio matter a fact.
