    He advised to get out of the blocks fast, to build up speed, then to slow take a little, from three to five steps, before speeding up again coming out of the curve, then just maintain form and speed as well as possible.

      He was wrong about getting fast out of the blocks. In the 400m it's always better to get out moderately fast with smooth and uniform acceleration.

    if only the Americans could stick to the metric system consistently, this could be a lot more easier to understand

      Blame the gov. I know the metric system actually makes sense and it's literally the international system for computers and other tech but for some reason they wanted to push the imperial way.

      Track only uses the metric terms in the US. Field is the only one that uses feet. No one wants to jump 2.2 meters. It sounds way better in feet.
      The yard references in track are from 70 years ago. All track is in metric in the US.

    No,each athlete is different. Each athlete has different strenghts,it also depends on the type of sprinter. Run the 400m according to your natural strenght.
    But each type has to hit the designated
    time per 100m or 200m. Ex if an athlete wants to run 48 seconds flat. The quicker speedy type first may it hit 24 seconds flat 200m or 23.9 but his last 200m maybe 24.1,thats his strenght.
    The slower type may run first 200 in 24.1 but his next 200m,will be be 24secs,or 23.9 the last 200m or second half of his race,is his strenght. Butt both hit their designated times.

      Yes, and accelerate for about 50m-60m then maintain the pace. Don’t try to accelerate past that because you can’t hold it. You will die towards the finish

    The primary reason they used this race strategy was because of how they trained their energy systems. Lee Evans had a significant amount of aerobic training as part of his training similar to Femke Bol and Karsten Warholm. Most american athletes today have dropped most of that work for much more anaerobic work.

    • @TheWayToWin
      @TheWayToWin  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Anaerobic work is a myth; it doesn't exist. If you don't believe me, seal your mouth and nose and try to run 200m. You will never reach the finish line because that would be true anaerobic work. Other than that everything we do is aerobic. Always. Because there is no other possible way to run.

    • @8Blackmamba81
      @8Blackmamba81 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheWayToWin The Cori cycle which produces lactate from glucose is an anaerobic process. No oxygen is required. Your anecdote is useless because there are more processes going on in the body than just running e.g your brain and other organs need oxygen to keep you alive. The 400m takes 43 to 60 seconds depending on your skill level and all three of your body's primary energy systems are used to produce ATP. The Cori cycle does not use oxygen, the creatine phosphate system does not use oxygen, and the krebs cycle uses oxygen through glycolosis all to create ATP. Each of these energy systems can be trained with different modalities of training and each constitutes a different proportion of your energy usage in the 400m depending on how fast you are/how long you are running at near maximal speed.
