Cleveland Guardians promote TOP PROSPECT Johnathan Rodriguez to the majors; DFA Ramon Laureano

The Cleveland Guardians are ready to try something new in their outfield.
On Monday afternoon, Cleveland called up outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez from Triple-A Columbus and designated outfielder Ramón Laureano for assignment. Rodriguez is the club's No. 16 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
“It was just time on both sides,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said. “And obviously not a fun day or a decision, but wish Ramón nothing but the best, and excited that J-Rod’s here.”

If he declines the option, he will forfeit the money. That's why Straw accepted the options, because he would have had to forfeit his remaining salary

At least Straw and Laureano played for the Guardians. Segura never put on a Cleveland uniform. Don't know where he is now. Strange that the Guardians are still paying him.

It’s not strange. He’s essentially half of Josh Bell’s contract, but Cleveland was willing to take on Segura’s money to get Khalil Watson

@@petermatic7209 Understand why they did it. Nevertheless, thought it strange because usually when a player is acquired via trade, unless he is flipped in another trade somewhere else or an injury prevents him from playing or he is sent to the minor leagues, he generally at least puts on the uniform of that team. Segura never got the chance to so by the Guardians.
