Anik has so much knowledge of the sport, so it surprises me he fails to mention Randy Couture. DC was the first to hold them simultaneously but Couture already captured both multiple times. "Double Champ" wasn't a thing until they let McGregor do it.

If Cannonier can find a way to stay close and smother Izzy then sustain pace I think he can wear Izzy down and finish him late in the fight. Similar to how King Mo and Johnny Eblen were able to grind out wins over Gegard Mousasi.
I like Cannonier & he seems to be a good dude but I just don't see him beating Izzy. I mean how? Paulo Costa is a big, muscular dude & look what happened when he faced Izzy. JC struggled against Whitaker. Sure he has a punchers chance if he can catch Izzy but that's a BIG if.
