- Today's interviews are about “Papa Katsu”. It means “Sugar Dating” in English. This is when a younger woman goes out with a rich, older guy, and receives money from him in exchange. In Japan, this is currently tacitly accepted. I’m going to interview people and ask their opinions on sugar dating.

There is effectively no difference between papakatsu and compensated dating.
Perhaps ask those that are indifferent or approve the question, “would you approve of your daughter engaging in papakatsu?”
Also, although this will not apply to everyone, arguably, there is also some form of exchange when people date, or marry. Sure, it’s not spelt out from the beginning, but in many cases there is an expectation.
It's just like a sugar daddy/momma in the U.S. probably way more common here.
Japanese culture is so difficult to understand. There are thousands of hostess bars, maid cafes, websites to rent a girl friend, but Papakatsu is dangerous because the age gap makes it considered exploitation? Just difficult to understand the boundaries. They have laws that makes selling anal sex legal but vagina sex illegal.

she IS interviewing the wrong ethnicity of men.....LOTs of men, both foreign (german, irish, british) and white and black guys 'hit' on asian women MORE than asian men! the danger part is, once they realize they been taken for a ride, some if not a LOT, do deal with it violently, resulting in death...
I don't think have to interview people engaging in パパかつ is necessary to understand what public think of it. I agree that we can get many different perspective if we ask people why they do such activities but does not always justify the activity. If something is bad, it is bad - but we can ateempt understand these people and help them.
We have big problem in Japan with underage girl doing this sort of activity. It is not true that all パパかつ is underage but if we allow it at all, the chance too high school girl go into it is not zero.
The answer always is inbetween, we need to ask people not doing パパかつ and people doing. Because you will get bias if not I believe. Sorry for English I am learning!

I have seen girls approaching men for papa Katsu recently. I think Japan’s economy and difficulty for young women to find good jobs and spending money is a growing problem.

You can tell from all these interviews (with this channel and all the other channels) that nobody has any idea what they are talking about. Nobody's thought about anything and they just give off the cuff in the middle answers and even then they tend to contradict themselves. Little ability in logic and reasoning.
Consenting adults entering into an arrangement for the beneficial of each other, no pimps involved each can walk away each can agree the extent of the arrangement, dinner only or dinner plus bedroom activity. The same in any relationship.

If you are going to make videos targeting a western audience it would be helpful to give the monetary specifics between Papa Katsu and Rent a Date (through a company) and Prostitution. Did the people you spoke to know what the average cost was on a date? All I see is that either these people were lying about what they really knew because they were being recorded or incredibly ignorant.

They are young and only see the surface of society. What young women don't realize is that the more money they receive, the more their partner treats them like slaves. The more beautiful the woman, the more expensive it becomes, and the high pride they had until then is hurt. When they're feeling down, it's the men in the industry they turn to, and then they get stuck in the deep end. There may be times when they turn to drugs. They end up not being able to love others because they only see money.

Just found your channel, and I love your content! I watched a bunch of your videos, then I ran across this one. As I watched the interviews, it became very clear that none of the interviewees know anything about sugar-dating. I got to know two young women who were, at the time I met them, both in sugar-dating relationships. This is how they explained it to me. The sugar-couple will spend a month or two (or three) spending time together, getting to know each other. During that initial period, no money or gifts, or expensive shopping trips take place. The initial few months is for seeing if the couple can develop a genuine, real, friendship. Then, it is only after the couple decides that they truly enjoy spending time together, that the sugar relationship begins. The two girls I knew said that they were these men's girlfriends, and that they engaged in all the normal activities that any other adult couple would normally engage in. The only difference was that the girls received a generous stipend each month--to "help them cover their rent, bills, etc." The men weren't paying for sex, the girls maintained. Instead, they were paying for a girlfriend.
Some people may argue that this distinction is just a matter of semantics, and I think there's merit to that argument. But in the end, it's an open, honest agreement between two consenting adults. If it works for them, great! I'm not going judge.

ngl, it would be understandable if they were forced to do papakatsu because of poverty and lack of work, but I have no sympathy for these women, many of whom wear luxury goods such as Chanel and Hermes and do papakatsu, even though they have work to do. They just do it because it's an easy way to make money. And some of them are even trying to get money by making up stories about being SA by men, even though they were having consensual relationships with men.

I think most people that do this is not open about it, maybe to their closet friends. We have the same debate in my country about this, if this prostitution or not. British but I always find perspectives interesting. I'm largely similar to the 1st guy, if 2 (or more) consenting adults have an agreement, that is none of my business.
Perhaps sugar dating is more extreme, like a 21 year old and a 60 year old, so then that is transactional I would suggest. I'm also not sure if it usually involves sex..? It sounds quite similar to "escorting", which legally I think doesn't include sex otherwise it's prostitution, and so things like "girlfriend experience" are popular, with a clear understanding that you sleep with a girlfriend, but you are legally paying for her time rather than her body, hence legal.
Regardless, whatever agreement freely consenting adults make, it's fine by me.
I don't accept that the girls are "forced" into it, anymore than anybody is "forced" into an office job or into construction to earn a living.
Lastly, as somebody with a 4 year old daughter, although I'd rather she was a Nobel winning rocket scientist, if she did end up engaging in that activity to make money, although it wouldn't be my preferred way for her to earn, she would at that point be an adult capable and deserving to make her own decisions, and potentially make her own mistakes. But it's not like I'd disown her for it. I have 18 years to help her become an adult, the rest is on her at that point. Similarly, if I was a single and lonely older guy, I'd not be against the company of a beautiful and charming lady for an evening.
This is a long time "Global" tradition. But it's nice to see how the Japanese people do it.
