If your canvas has previously been stored on a roll as part of a bolt of fabric, the selvedges will be parallel with the sides that curve and the top and bottom of your piece will be the sides that sit straight. But I'd like to know how to tell which side the selvedge was on if the fabric sits flat!
There's not a great way to figure that out once the canvas is flattened out unfortunately. My best tip is to always mark the side of the canvas with a marker or piece of tape once you've cut the selvedge off to keep track!
What an awesome video. Can you tell me about what paints you use or can use. Do these paints have to match up to specific color threads that you already have in mind?
Americana, Folk Art, and Ceramcoat are some of my favorite brands. Nope! They don't have to match specific color threads but you can certainly paint that way if you want!
