Indeed his lack of pace doesn't suit for fast counter attack strategy, but when facing team that has stuborn defense, Juan is great choice for distributing ball at final third. So it depends on what tactic that United use when you want to say "he is finished" at PL.

Been criticised a lot, but as we start under Ole, he can play that Giggsy role for the next couple of years. We lack leadership, let alone the Roy Keane brand, this squad feels like it lacks simple maturity at times. Mata can bring that and his sensibility. Looking at pre-season, Mata can be a key player in this fast passing and fluid setup's number 10. As evident he has won us many a game and also "one of the great United goals at Anfield!". And the most likeable individual.
