Killing Lord Shimura in the final duel is not the canon ending but it is Sucker Punch Director Nate Fox's most favorite (Samurai since its doing the honorable way of doing his last wish) ending since Shimura is his favorite character. The canon one is Spare (Ghost) since its more accurate to Jin's character in flouting the rules to go his way against the Samurai Code. Daisuke Tsuji, the voice actor and face model of Jin Sakai, chose the Spare ending in his publicly streamed playthrough of the game which is super poetic. Pretty rather ironically realizes Ryuzo's assumption in the flashback during the Heart of the Jito to be true that in order to start his own family, Lord Shimura will have to remove Jin first. Doubly so when Jin wears the armor given to him by Ryuzo throughout the Tale, even when he duels Lord Shimura. Also, the final scene pretty much puts to mind my most favorite Samurai movie of all time in the Last Samurai where the main character honorbound, slays the Last Samurai Lord Katsumoto to keep his own in the final battle during his final bloom under nature's beauty. “The perfect blossom is a rare thing. You could spend your life looking for one, and it would not be a wasted life.”
There's a reason Clans jockey for position and play politics seriously, especially the small ones. One small mistake or choosing the wrong horse, they're done. Boom, their territories or castles change hands depending on how they go or forcibly dismantled or merged by bigger ones. Tryna cozy up to the reigning Shogun or Emperor at the time or in the Sengoku Jidai, reach Kyoto first to become top dog like Oda did to replace the failing Ashikaga Clan.
The journey through Tsushima ends. Begins, does the Black Myth.
First vod will be up soon
