    She should have won an Oscar for this film.
    In fact, instead of awarding her for it, the idiots in the Academy should have gotten on their knees and begged her to take it.

      For sure. I think it is an important film. History will give her and the film the credit they deserve though.

      Agreed 100%. One of the most important films of this millennium. Typical Hollywood... it's get a Best Picture, Director, Cinematography, and Screenplay noms... and skips the single reason any of us are even talking about the film. Just like A Beautiful Mind. Just to be clear -- Emma Stone won that year for La La Land. LOL... a film NO-ONE will watch again. Remember this was the "Black" Oscars with Moonlight winning. Another film NO-ONE will watch again. Like Crash.

      Best Sci-Fi since 2001. Don't insult it by asking for it to be awarded with a ridiculous and highly corrupt award from the "Academy" (which is not really an academy...)!

    Why do producers always come off as such tools. For creatives it must be extremely hard to deal with the money people in Hollywood. Being calm and keeping your cards VERY close to your chest must be the number one talent of actors, writers and directors.

      I think what threw me was that we skip around through time _before_ she meets the aliens, but they establish that it isn't til her mind is altered by the learning of the language that she can experience time in a non-linear fashion. Is it just some time-related paradox shit that I'm not getting, or just a stylistic choice whereby only the audience can see into the future at that moment, like a classic flash-forward? I've only seen it once, but the shift, if there is any, between when we as the audience are experiencing non-linear storytelling and when the character is experiencing non-linearity is not made clear. In any case, it's my favourite movie of the year.

    • @Areyousureyouwantto
      @Areyousureyouwantto 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      She is experiencing time in a non linear fashion. What that means is that she is living in the past, the present and the future, having all experience combined into one. It is as if time stops being a "line" and instead becomes a dot. It's a mindfuck of epic proportions and our brains aren't wired to be even near to comprehending how that would feel like.

    • @VariantZilean
      @VariantZilean 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Areyousureyouwantto finally that explains why I didn't get that wow moment where it all comes together.

    • @CosminCRT

      It was gifted by the french to usa. Freedom in french is liberte. Statue de la Liberte - Statue of Liberty.

    • @MrFreezook
      @MrFreezook 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CosminCRT So what's the difference between Liberty & Freedom ?
      Coz in French there is no word for Freedom.
      You should have said Liberty in French is Liberté.

    • @cherryblack420
      @cherryblack420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrFreezook What?? There is a word for Freedom in french and it's Liberté.

    • @MrFreezook
      @MrFreezook 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cherryblack420 The question is why is there 2 words in English for Freedom while in French there is only 1 while French is a much stronger language than English.
      Because variations on something that should not have variations mess up with people and make them controllable. That's how original meanings of words get lost.
      Freedom is linked to truth. While Liberty is linked to Anarchy and Chaos, it's following your own desires, in other words following and being a slave to your own earthly desires.
      That's why Liberals are Gays and feminists and lefties... They are not Freedom fighters... Because they know their cause is week as heck !
      It's politician manipulation done by the constructors of that languages from long before we were born.
      Freedom & Liberty obviously don't share the same root of a word.
      Freedom is Following and being a slave to the only 1 thing that truly deserves to be followed and being a slave to. God.
      That's why the Truth shall set you free. Not Set you liberal or set you to liberty. The corrupt and misleading governments, organizations & companies are the ones who want to set you to false beliefs, dreams and set you up to liberty. Which actually makes you more and more of a slave consumer to their system without you realizing it.
      If liberty and freedom were the same, Then why don't we ever hear people say Liberty of religion ? or Liberty of speech ? or liberty of abortion ? or liberty of whatever >? it's because this division in the very word is what's feeding them controllers, they know just exactly how to satisfy the beasts that are inside the ones that are like them.
