    Absolutely gorgeous results. Excellent instructions. Thanks for not playing music while you are teaching. I don’t know why people think we need to have music background while trying to hear/process directions. Love love your stencils and color choices. YOU rock!!!

    I'm learning a lot watching these videos but I would love to see how these layered prints are used to complete a project.
    I am having trouble getting decent results with a gelli plate and even with having two books as guides I still can't seem to produce a professional result.
    Perhaps watching an entire step by step video that shows a project from start to finish could help take the mystery out of the techniques and materials needed to end up with a successful piece of artwork using gelli plate.

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If anything presses on the plate long term it can indent it permanently. If they came that way, I would’ve returned it. They will affect every print you make and there’s no way to get them out

    I had bought several smaller gel plates that did not come in clam shells, they came from dickblick, the only thing they had to keep them clean were those mylar sheets. They store very nicely sandwiched between them without any damage whatsoever. Perhaps you have experienced damage by using the mylar sheets in conjunction with the clamshell. But just using the mylar sheets does work.

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As per the manufacturer, the mylar sheets are NOT meant to be used to store them, they should be discarded and the plate should be stored in the clam shell alone, without the insert and without the mylar. :) I was a creative team artist for Gel Press, that was part of our training, and it says the same on the insert for care and storage. Just to let you know.

      I only use rice paper as I create my collage art with the papers. You could experiment with what you have on hand! Thanks Nicky

    amazing! Have you ever just hung this kind of rice paper with images or framed them? You use them in collages?

    • @ElizabethStHilaire

      I do use them in my Collages, but I have also hung over sized ones on the back of my bedroom doors to bring a little color into my living space!

    I don't see the stencil you named "planes" on your stencil website. I want to buy that stencil. Where is it available?

    Elizabeth - I have just bought a roll of Shoji Gami rice paper. I have noticed that one side is smooth, the other side rough. Which side do you print on, please?

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always the smooth side! So it doesn’t stick to the gel plate.

    Should I get a 6 or 8 inch brayer for my 12 x 14 inch gel plate?

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  ปีที่แล้ว

      either is good. I use two six inch brayers but I am not using a 12x14 plate! Bigger is better.

    I ordered a large geli plate. What do I put the geli plate in If I didn’t get a clam shell?

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      what did it come in if not a plastic clam shell? that is where you store it.

    Grateful for you and broke. Can I make opaque paint more translucent without eliminating hue?

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think you can make issue paint more translucent due to the nature of the pigment. You can try applying it thinly or adding water. It depends on the quality of paint you are using. Golden, high quality paint, will dilute pretty nicely but opaque pigments will never be one totally translucent.

    This is my first class,can't his be done on fabric as well?

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sure that it could be, however I don’t work in fabric so your best bet would be to experiment!
