How To Make Your Own Stone Pestle And Mortar (It’s Surprisingly Easy!)

  • Useful in the kitchen, and as beautiful as the stones you choose - how could you not want one of these? (I suspect they may make excellent chistmas presents too.)
    It would be easy to make a deeper hollow than I made - but I really don’t think it was necessary. Plus, it’s easier to clean when it’s shallow.
    Yes, this is a big heavy one - but if you want, just choose smaller stones. (Sorry, was that a bit obvious? But you wouldn’t believe some of the comments we get on our videos…)

    That's just awesome and amazing. It reminds me of the Japanese wood or glass ikebana vase, they use to make their unique floral arrangements. I think the Japanese arrangements would be beautiful in a rock version as well, for if remember what read about them long ago, they often prefer using natural elements in their creations. It takes a special gift to take what is considered ordinary, and transform it into the extra-ordinary...and with it, you are both imbued. :) Gretchen

      @thundercloud47 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +WayOutWest Blowinblog , You are so welcome. Years back was looking for something on E-bay, and came across Ikebana. We live in rural Missouri, and I'd never seen anything so simple, elegant, yet have so much impact. As watching this video, I could just see your mortar and pestle in the gift shop your channel shared some time back...and not far from it, a single, similar stone, with a lovely kiebana arrangement. I'm in awe of you folks creativity and 'eye' for what could be, and...then you go and create it! Gretchen

    Beautiful work. If you'd like to save a ton of time you'll benefit from buying a masonry grinding disc for ~$80. Using your same grinder, this very expensive disc would gobble out your hole as fast as your cutting disc, except it'll be chomping out a huge portion instead. However, don't start getting strong with it and burn your grinder out ;)

    Fantastic! Do you mind if I ask a question? Please don't worry if you don't have time to reply but since you guys started 'growing your own etc' have you noticed you're more healthy & with fewer ailments than maybe you used to have? I have vaccine damage which caused multiple sclerosis and other diseases & I'm going to try eating only natural ingredients for a period of time in the new year & hopefully start growing some food if I can get raised beds. I'll maybe make some from used pallet covers stacked up & filled x

    • @WayOutWestx2
      @WayOutWestx2  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +That One Song We have our aches and pains, but we're struggling on! Seriously, diet is an important part of health, but only a part. Being outside and growing the food in the first place is probably equally beneficial. Being part of the natural world and using your body for digging and weeding..
      But genetic make-up trumps everything, I hear.
      It's interesting that you wrote 'I'm going to try eating only natural ingredients' - makes us wonder what you eat at the moment!
      Basically, there are lots of reasons for growing your own and all of them are good - Go for it! Good luck. x.

    • @thatonenaturesong
      @thatonenaturesong 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +WayOutWest Blowinblog Thanks so much for your reply. My diet is varied depending on my health to be honest & whether I'm having a good day or a bad day. I eat far too much convenience food which of course is full of additives. Aspartame is in almost everything these days, it's legalised poison. Even this weeks 'healthy food' I bought has travelled to get here. IE Grapes from California, very little fresh fruit & veg in our supermarkets are grown in the UK but is flown in. Keep up the great work guys, you are so inspiring x

    For my taste, it was way, way too fast and easy. Part of the joy in making something like this should be the time it takes, time spent thinking, meditating, wondering about all sorts of things.
    Where's the accomplishment in picking up a rock and grinding a hole in it with a power tool? Anyone can do that. It requires neither talent nor patience.
