    I'm 58 and you just changed my husband's and my life! He only wears PAJAMAS - those jogger looking ones. I'm so embarrassed but I know that others understand. But now I can have him sit down without his leg while I go check out which pants will work! I've HATED "skinny legs" faze; all I can find! But I'm going to take him to a thrift store now, knowing that he doesn't have to even attempt to try on pants until his "leg" has tried them first! 😅
    Thank you so much for sharing!

    Do shoes, running shoes, and boots next. Specifically, best styles and types that would be easy to get on and off.

    Can we take a moment to appreciate how much work it was for you to change that many times? I just filmed a video about adaptive pants (should be editing now so it's ready on Sunday...instead I'm watching your video) and it was surprisingly draining to change my pants one bazillion times. And have you noticed how sometimes different amputee channels make videos on the same topic at the same time? Like are you psychic?!

      Or how having a mobility impairment makes it even harder to film that it does for other creators. Things like moving the camera around if you're in your wheelchair, or changing pants for a clothing video when you've got a prosthesis are a bigger deal than if you were able-bodied.

    Great to see you back Annika! I'm an Above Knee Amputee and wear jeans most days. As an AKA, I have to do it the other way - instead of putting the jean leg down over the socket, I feed the foot down through the pant leg from the top. Same issue you mentioned - the bottom of the jean leg is just too narrow to fit over the top of the socket! Because the socket goes so high, I actually put my other foot into the pants first, then my prosthetis, then pull the jeans up over all of it. I didn't know if jeans would be possible originally, but once I got beyond rehab and was headed back IRL, I was tired of shorts and sweats! Good to see more options in adaptive clothing these days.
    Annika - hope to see you again in a couple of weeks - always nice to see a new video from you. You're in CA now, but from your time in CO - any winter tips" Last year I wasn't driving and didn't have to go out much - was using the wheelchair when I did. We had our first icy day this week and it's a whole new ball game. I'm still using a walker as I continuing progressing, but Yikes. (I'm in NH)

    • @StephaninasAmputeeAdventures
      @StephaninasAmputeeAdventures ปีที่แล้ว

      I really like wearing jeans, so I put zippers in the side seams. Annika's jeans had the zipper on the inseam, but I thought it looked cool to have a non-invisible zipper on the side, so I ran with it...minus literal running. I've tried zippers on both seams. For me, I find it more convenient on the outer side seam.

      @AnnikatheAmputee  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hadnt even thought about AKs and jeans but this is good information! Adaptive clothing is definitely starting to become more and more prevalent luckily!
      I will try to give my best snow tips but since I live in Southern California now, I dont have to worry about snow as much. Ill be heading to CO in a couple weeks so ill make a video then!

      Yes that's what I think is the best option if you want "amputee pants". Not saying buying them is bad, but I feel it just limits the consumer. I would rather find pants I really like and THEN have them altered in a way that would be beneficial to me.

    First of all, I want to tell you this is all soooo great for me....I'm over 50 and have had issues with clothes especially jeans/pants....however, my issue is a little different. I have a sleeve over my socket and that's been a huge issues...as you've said, dresses and skirts are your best friend, but in colorado when it's very cold, shorts skirts and dresses kinda suck...lol. but I have been dealing with them and when I get prices for zippers the cost has been more than the jeans/pants, themselves. Not to mention shoes....I have a different foot than yours and I can't take mine apart I would like to put boots on and wear heels but that's another story Just mainly the pants with a socket that has a sleeve over it....I work out now and would like to do my yoga pants like you did but I'm scared it will look weird since it will be on top of the liner/socket. Any other suggestions on that? Sorry this was so long I was trying to find where I could message you without posting this all....thank you!
