    I’m so glad I ran across your video here before I bought it. That simple radio just became complicated. I was lost.

      You don't necessarily need to do the firmware update, and we have created some software to make the firmware update easier. I like the radio overall. Stay tuned for more!

    Thanks so much Steve. Was a bit adrift until I watched your video and changed the baud rate. It’s not in the pdf guide. Got 1.3 rocking now. 73 Steve MW0SAW

    Hey Steve, great video. On a side note, I was reading my new issue of On the Air today, Nov/Dec 2022. What a surprise to see your article on, Setting up a Workbench. I didn’t even pay any attention to who wrote the article but, my eye caught the picture of the shelves with the postal boxes. I said to myself, “I know that picture, I have seen that before”. Then I looked to see who the author was, you Steve McGrane KM9G. Excellent article on workbench setup, organization. Thank you for sharing that information Steve and it is an excellent article for the On the Air magazine. Thank you. Jan KO4UWU

    This is amazing. Hopefuly firmware isn't wonky ;) I got my G90 year ago and since then I haven't mess around with FW. If it's not broken, I don't try to repair it, you know ;)

      Exactly! Hopefully these firmware update/review vids help people decide if it works -- especially since I hear you can't go backwards on the g90 firmware.

    Yeah I completely and unrecovered bricked my g90 with the 1.8 version firmware upgrade I noticed you did not check the 1k box when you were sending the file to the radio on the radio oddity website it says to check that box or it won't work apparently on the 106 this doesn't apply because I couldn't remember if I had checked the 1K box before I upgraded the firmware and thought maybe that's why the radio bricked.

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have bricked and in bricked the g106 th-cam.com/video/Iur3PaycsCc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CW5HPAkwYzDUtdep I have run into it on the G90, but if I do, I'll make a video. 1k is definitely needed for the g90.

    Any idea how to access the USB / LSB carrier point settings? In its current state the high frequency response of USB & LSB on TX & RX is rolled off way too early resulting in woolly TX & RX audio...

    • @temporarilyoffline

      I'd try some advanced button mashing. I don't seem to have those sounds on mine. Check into your warranty or exchange periods quick if no other radios in the area do that!

    Quick question regarding update downloads: If you skipped updating the Icom 705 firmware over many versions, will updating to the current version take care of everything that the past updates would have addressed?

    • @temporarilyoffline

      Yes, you can jump straight to the latest firmware. If that changes, I'll make a video on it.

    Nice. So is the performance improving on this radio?

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I think it was a matter of expectations - we didn't really know where this radio was supposed to fit in the world. Now it looks like "quality+simple" was the target, and so far, they've delivered on that.
