Seriously WG. Stop showing us that test map/firing range and just add it already. Looks great to test mobility equipment, or even gun handling setups solo. Or test a new tank in a platoon. Place dummy targets around that you can shoot at. Like an idle E100 etc.

Maybe it's time to rework a type 5 heavy?
Honestly it would be about time to buff the armor of all the japense superheavies starting from tier 7. Their armor just does not work anymore when every new tier 8 has 300+ gold pen. Give them weakspots but make the non-weakspot parts STRONG. For the type 5 i would make the frontal armor at the very least 300 for both turret and hull.
It should just have much stronger armor, with obvious weakspots even for standart ammo. Problem is that even current weakspots need often gold to pen, with some tier X guns that have average, below average pen on standart, like Maus with 246 AP pen which is a joke in current tier X

14 years, people still cry about "gold ammo", gold tanks, gold ping, gold fingers, gold gpu...
You know, you can buy each shell type for silver? And before you start crying: play tier I-III games, a couple of well earned wins will give you enough credits, to buy "gold" ammo (for silver).
@@droopy_eyes It's still gold ammo. It still does the exact same thing, allows you to bypass a tank's intended and designed strengths. There is no downside to it as you say yourself. It does indirectly however still cost real money. You pay a fee to bypass game design. To get an unfair advantage. No defense of it at all.

TLDR: Press 2 if you encounter a tank with armour. Congratulations. Now your opponent does not have armour any more.
Yes, it is how WG balanced out the game. Tanks used to have weakspots that you needed to aim at if tank had too much armour. Even tanks that have only armour and nothing else (like Maus) had weakspots that you needed to aim at and if you were driving heavy armoured tank, you needed to hide those weakspots. Then WG slowly removed weakpots from the game or made them way smaller. They started by introducing bonkers OP premiums with no weakposts or 1 pixel size weakspots and then, over the years they buffed many tech tree tanks armour model as well.
So basically, in order to deal damage, you need to pay extra credits for "ammo no. 2" , so at some point you will more likely to buy premium tank or Premium account to earn that credits.
APCR ( which is a common premium ammo option ) does not normalize as much as AP does, meaning very sloped armor can block them. If you're able to angle your armor against a player using APCR, you can definitely block it.
HEAT doesn't normalize, so as long as you keep the 3 calibre rule in mind, you can also defend against premium HEAT. - TragicLoss
To be honest, if you need to press 2 every time to do damage, then the problem isn't the game. Normal ammo is fine 90% of the time.

For general education: "Hardening" is more associated with increasing the durability of armor plates and not with increasing HP. Second: the bonus from "Hardening" in 10% is 1 extra shot on average in damage at the level.But considering that the damage received is neutralized by +-25% from the average indicator (see the performance characteristics), it turns out that the only plus goes to the tracks in the form of a bonus to durability.
i really like how you talk about aiming and armour cause like whenever am playing with tier 7s and 8s whenever i shoot at a green spot it's not a pen
Last but not least, if your opponent is switching to easy difficulty forget about armor and hide yourself.
This single bit is nowadays more useful than any lesson about armor usage.

I think Maus and the T95 have the most balanced armor in the game so far.
Maus needs very specific angling to work, but if you manage to get it you are rewarded greatly.
T95 has that bulwark wall of armor on the front, but the sizeable cupolas and lower plate are still opportunities. Miss those, and then the T95 gets their opportunity.
Also, equally irrelevant against SPGs.
I like how in a video about using armor, the one of the "most" armored tank is beeing shown firing at side of Maus from BEHIND of a Grille 15...

HE shells do not always do damage. I have hit tanks and not on there screens I'm talking on there turret, cupola or upper plate even on there side armor straight on and had the dreaded armor not penetrated pop up. So HE and heat don't bounce and they said HE always does damage, so can i get a refund for about 150 shells since i started playing in 2010 ?
The amount of times my BC 155 58 arty put 3 shells into Maus just for the 2 to bounce and 3rd to hit for 50 hp and stun for 8s is crazy lmao.

@@obi-wlankenobi come on now clickers need love too. How many times have you had a hull down beast like the is-7 dug in like a tick knocking your team out every time they try to dig him out ? Then arty is there to save the day and dig them out for your team. Well at least a good arty player that knows they have a mini map and pays attention. Don't get me wrong i am not an arty fan when there are 2 or 3 per team. One i think is fine but no more than 1. Also unfortunately i have to play arty to complete missions for the obj 260 and as bad as i hate playing arty i have no choice.

Keep in mind tankers. A tank that hides as much of the armor as possible still makes it harder to hit than one in the open. Terrain makes the best spaced armor afterall.

You said that HE shells cause damage even when they don't penetrate armor. I'm saying the opposite.I have plenty of such cases. And there is not even the slightest hint of damage to any module, not to mention those that are out of order.

9:11 i want to know the HE mechanics explained because either HE penetrates and do full damage or its doing minimal damage when it does not. so what is that 456 roll? its not penetrated because then its 900, but also its not the minimal dmg. what is it???

Hello! The video explains already that if you do not penetrate the main armor, you will not do damage and that you must pen both the screen and the main armor to do damage. 2:13

@@JiniksonПо такой логике кустовые пт тоже ошибка 🙄. Они стреляют издалека как арта, незаметны как арта. В то же время урона и хп больше. Чем они отличаются? Тем что арта за препятствия закидывает? Да, но в остальном они схожи

@usernumber4 I get so sick of watching flanks fall or trying to out DPM something 2 tiers higher then me. I have to carry tier V's in my VII while I am on the other side of the field just because Wargaming through an M4A3 should fight a Progetto 46 and a Borasque.
@@larry-three8225 you just think about it in negative side only, when you at top tier when a lot of low tiers, much more chances to do more damage and you are technically more valuable player out of 15, like a boss. When you play at lower tier against higher, its so much fun when you do more in battle than them and it gives a nice feeling of being proud that you are skilled, and its obvious that you can't fight 1vs1 a +2 tier, and you have to keep in mind that when you are lower tier you are support and backliner, spotter and HP trader when higer tiers needs that. Simply in both scenarios when its not flat tier im having fun, when its flat lvl battle its just nothing you can do, you are same as the others and its boring

Here's some additional info on HE Shell mechanics: When using HE shells, remember that if the shell reaches the armor, it will deal damage. The amount will depend on the armor thickness at the point of impact-the thinner the armor, the lower its nominal value and the greater the damage. And vice versa-the thicker the armor at the point of impact, the less damage the shell will cause if it does not penetrate.

@@heavNz Spaced armor is referenced in the video as preventing shells from doing damage if it doesn't reach the main armor. This also applies to HE rounds.
EBR wheels are tricky because they cover more surface area than the EBR's main armor body. Often times players may hit the wheels at an angle where the shell doesn't travel into the main armor or normalize in a way that turns it so the trajectory doesn't have a path to the main armor. - TragicLoss

Would be nice to know the exact formulas for normalization (e.g. AP 5 degrees, APCR 2 degrees, the 2 Caliber Rule (than AP has around 10 degrees and APCR 4-5 degrees) dispersion values and other stuff since you closed the forums its hard to find out

@@jeffreyleatherman334 no, 2 caliber rule is a thing with ap and apcr, different from overmatch. eg: Hori with 149mm ap gun will normalize 5 degree of angled armor, but if it face something like type 71 or kran sidescraping with 70-60mm of side armor which is less than 149/2, it will normalize 10 degree

So what are you talking about when you say 2 caliber rule ? Because this is straight from google if you search it and it does not say 2x caliber rule. Now on wot blitz i think its a 2x rule but not PC
The three-caliber rule, for all types of shell except for HEAT and HE: if the shell caliber is more than three times the armor thickness (without taking into account the impact angle), there is no ricochet.

I'm VERY curious what will you say in chapter about spoting. Actually i have feeling like spot system in Wot have some issues and isn't clear. Argumentation? Watch how much players can spot well and how much basicaly sabotauge their teams. I'm playing a lot with spotters so please dont call me nab :P My biggest issue is, when I spot tanks with my rhm with 560view range, and then second light with 100m less view range steal half the amount, when he probably bearly see enemy tanks.

Honestly the entire video should have been max 10-20 sec, Got issues penetrating armor? Load gold and the issue is solved, since HE no longer is an option.
The armor
I really like the idea of superheavy tanks, but Type 5 is in a really bad spot nowadays, nobody plays it.... Plus I miss the old HE guns, that was the main reason to play this tank.
HE changes is ruined Type 5 line in change to nerf the artys at some point at least. But the Arty damage nerf almost reverted, but the Type line was cry in the corner with the derp guns. Just give them a bit more HE pen...
@@marci7683 Its the only thing they had, they took it away and now the Type tanks or any japanese superheavy is a just a slug XP piňata.
@@Lennji So that's why the enemy often understimate them, and forgot their kinda big alpha on the big (not derp) gun and the fact that they are reeealy heavy tanks, so if you are not a super heavy yourshelf, the creative players can use that. (Not for ram, due from they design was killing that fun...)
