We fans love our beautiful lovely awsome amazing and gorgeous Gary so much he is such a lovely person both inside and out so talented and has such emotion in his voice we will always love him
Thanks for checking it out guys. You really have missed sooooooooo much, Pure, Splinter, Savage are all amazing albums as is Intruder going to be, just love it and have done since 79'. If you haven't heard any of his stuff with the Skaparis Orchestra you should check that out too, what an amazing concert that was.
The lyric on this, and, I'm guessing the rest of the songs from the new album, are from the perspective of the Earth talking to humans. The idea was taken from a poem by his youngest daughter and will be printed on the album sleeve. Are Friends Electric was his first number 1, Cars was his 2nd.
This is an amazing album. Same with Savage. What is frustrating is he no longer is classified as electronic music according to Billboard despite the majority of the music is made electronically. He outsells today's artists now called electronic and can't get recognized for it.
So good to hear a decent live draft (I was a the Liverpool O2) become this aural behemoth today. Judging by the three numbers I've heard so far, Intruder is set to be an absolute stormer.
"I Am Screaming" from the Intruder album was released on his birthday a while ago could be a fun reaction. There's no video for it but he did just post on his Twitter about filming a new music video for the next single from the album. He's never stopped making music, he's great!
Are Friends Electric is older than Cars, it was when he was with Tubeway Army. Also, he went from new wave style music, to a more industrial style, in the mid 90s. :D
His new stuff is vastly superior to his classic stuff, saw him a few years ago and he only played "cars" and "our friends electric" as he doesn't dwell on the past, and he was brilliant
Definitely try the more recent CDs (Certainly both "Splinter: Songs from a Broken Mind"; "Savage: Songs from a Broken World"; but also "Jagged" & "Pure." (and the single "Crazier") I re-discovered Numan in 2017 when he did a concert at a local venue. (Best. Concert. Ever.) I have been hooked ever since. Numan did a bit of touring with NIN in the interim.
Mike is thinking of Lullaby by The Cure. And yes, the synth is very familiar to this one. I actually listened to this one right after you guys did the last Gary Numan reaction. It's okay, but I like My name is Ruin way better. Generally I think his songs are missing something. Maybe it's the C section switchup or some kind of progression. I dunno. But it's still very cool.
In regards to all the layers and the soundscape etc., please note that these latest albums are actually a collaboration between him and his producer, Ade Fenton, and it's the latter that comes up with the "layers" that you speak of, while Gary is responsible for the overall soundscape, melody, lyrics/vocals, etc. Ade Fenton put out his own album a decade ago and Gary collaborated with him on it, and performs vocals on four tracks. Here's the only video they released: it's quite creepy (but also REALLY good). th-cam.com/video/hIVImVhVoDY/w-d-xo.html
Since you mentioned "Are Friends Electric?", I thought I'd share this. I had his first two albums back in high school (yes I'm old), but I had no clue he was still around. Then a couple years ago TH-cam's algorithm dropped a video of him doing an updated version of "Are Friends Electric?" into my recommendations. So I immediately started seeking out his new stuff and became a fan all over again. Which eventually led me here to you guys. Anyway, you should listen to this, either as a reaction or just off camera. I think you'll like it. m.th-cam.com/video/22Z4Tv1zn-s/w-d-xo.html
If you really like grindy synths listen to metal by gary numan or underpass by john foxx now the synths in that song are awesome.... love from liverpool uk
You have missed a whole load of good stuff! Prayer for the unborn, Pure, I am dust, splinter, here in the black, when the world comes apart....it goes on and on...
Check out James Hardiman’s Intruder-Intrusions on TH-cam. Track 7. Fantastic mixes. I’m sure you’ll love it. Let me know. Love your ‘reaction videos’ 🫶🇬🇧🇨🇦🫶
Really enjoy your reaction videos. Love seeing people "almost" my age, haha. Ive got you beat by a few. I missed out on Gary Numan for so many year. I went through nearly 30 years of only Heavy Metal, Prog Metal, and Thrash. So much good stuff to catch up on. I now like bands like The Cure (Who I used to make fun of), I love Gary Numan. I only knew his song "Cars" for all these years! So much musical bliss to listen to. I still love Metal, but I have expanded my pallet....Finally

I have the album on preorder. Gary played a demo version of this on his 2019 (R)evolution tour we all loved it then and it just got better.
So good to hear a decent live draft (I was a the Liverpool O2) become this aural behemoth today.

@@faradayfelix It certainly sounds like another monster album from Gary, if the first 3 releases are anything to go by.
Love your reactions... You really need to listen to a prayer for the unborn live by Gary Numan.. You'll love it!
That's one of the best tracks I heard from Gary Numan.
Great tune guys. He's still amazing after all these years.
Great reaction

Years ahead of anyone before and now!
His new stuff is vastly superior to his classic stuff, saw him a few years ago and he only played "cars" and "our friends electric" as he doesn't dwell on the past, and he was brilliant
Unbelievable musician
He never stopped making records, y'all. He's got 19 studio albums plus some others that aren't "studio" in these 43 years....
Gary!
You guy's rock. Numan is better now than he's ever been. Love your reviews, keep up the great work!!
you can go back to one of his first bands called tubeway army . Oh , didn't i say is a good place to start
Sooooo nearly requested this :)

Gary Numan is Epic! Berserker is the bomb dot com.
Are friends electric is older than cars. It's from Tubeway Army...the band Gary had before he did pleasure principle.
He has come a long way from ' Cars'.. huh
Indeed! - G
when the world comes apart
Gary Numan has retained ALL his credibility

Yes, I was thinking Lullaby straight away too.
Gary is an absolute God no one to touch him with regards to synth music.his newer industrial sound is just something else

Seen it herd it brillaint albums and the last 1 as well
You should review the 1991 Gary Numan song Emotion, it failed to chart but it is a great song as is his cover version of U Got The Look
Here it is - th-cam.com/video/dx-lJoA1Ek4/w-d-xo.html
I always looked at Gary as a one hit wonder with Cars
He never stopped, there's dozens of albums. Cars was his only American hit but he's had plenty more in the UK
In fact in the UK, Cars was his second consecutive number 1!
You have missed a whole load of good stuff! Prayer for the unborn, Pure, I am dust, splinter, here in the black, when the world comes apart....it goes on and on...
