I was really impressed with the win time! I just cannot understand how the levmakers managed to make levs that, as you said, has seemingly impossible styles and just barely works with top player skills.
I wonder how much it helps that these styles were basically impossible back in 1997, so Csaba wouldn't even have considered them, just like the Headbanger pipe etc.. :)
@@igge imo he considered some styles like that drop from the top right apple, but they were intended to be impossible, but not too obviously so people might still try them. He probably wanted people to try and fail some routes, before finding the "correct" one.
@@yrrahyrrah Not really unfortunately. Though lately MUe (who helped with the game and created Bowling) has been pretty active, and even visited this years Finnish Elma Meeting! I think he has contact with both balazs and csaba so maybe there could be some interview done or so :)
I wasn't a big fan of playing this level, so I finished it two or three times and called it a day. Used a different style than any of those shown in the video, and came in on 61st place - mind as well use our skips on the levels we don't like :) Great video, Igge - really looking forward to your resumé of the 4th level. I expect there to be some crazy styles :)
@@igge I'm well aware - it would take far too long to look through all the replays and pick out the ones you want to feature. You're doing a great job already with the videos :) I'm looking forward to the next one every week :)
I was thinking that maybe instead of fixed places to watch [100, 50, 30, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1] it could be calculated relatively to the number of participants, by picking some multiplier and just multiplying each time to get the next place to watch. E.g. for multiplier = 0.6 and number of participants 147 you'd get following places: [88, 53, 32, 19, 11, 7, 4, 2, 1] That way the style progression might be more even. And if the level would be longer, take lower multiplier for the video not to be too long and higher for shorter levels. It could as well be mixed with outstanding replays voted by the community.
Interesting idea! I do kinda like though that people can know if they'll be included in the vid if they get 100th, 50th, 30th etc. But the distribution does look a bit better.
I think I played this level only for 7 hours, did almost the same route as winrec but got so exhausted by the route that I didn't play more once I succeeded once. I knew I'd still hit spot 50th something and was 52th 😄
you know what is funny? i played first round around 5h total and i was 96., this level i played cca 5 minutes and i was 94. xD Still had not find motivation why to download and play 4 round.
You had a nice style this event! That probably helped a lot. Also maybe the first event tends to be a bit more competitive, but you never know.. :) Go play event 4 and make top50 👏👏
Might feel like it because it's the same level designer, but this and a few other levels from the early beta stages (1995-1997) were only re-discovered when the rights to Elasto Mania were purchased in 2020. With that, those beta levels were also released as the "Ancient Internals", for Action Supercross and Elasto Mania, but this one level was for some reason missed back then, and was only released to the public now for this World Cup event :)

Great video man! Never in a million years would have I guessed that I would enjoy this type of video so much.
Thanks! Do you play/have you played Elasto Mania too, or just found it randomly?

Yeah, that sounds plausible. would be fun to hear from the man himself at some point 8)
@@igge That would be super interesting. Has he been involved in the community over the years?

Sick bounce in your rec, nice version of the terb0s style!
Would have been cool to feature, but it's hard to find all styles to include too.. :/

The level had way more styles than I thought. Amazing event!
it's what you can expect from an internal i guess :))

Sick level and video, thanks!
Thank YOU Edna
Replay starting with 16:09 was my favorite moment to watch.
Amazing style progression!
Congratz to the winners and thanks for making the video! 😎
It's a crazy style! Surely int wr worthy 👌

Hah, funny that i say myself at 5 apples. I tried it but deemed it too hard for myself so i skipped it all :P
Go for a finish in 904! Ez top100, i believe in you
few know that Elma is the actual nation sport in Finland haha.
Used to be an even competition between the nordic countries, but everything changed when the Finnish nation attacked

A wise man once said, "A shoddy ff with the best route can beat a thousand finishes with a worse one~", or something like that.
how am i being recommended this game lol, but i have played it indeed :D gg
The algorithm knows you better than yourself 8)
how do i play this game again, it was like 20 + years on my windows 98 XD
It's on Steam now! And you just have to add the Elma Online workshop item to play online as well :)
WOWWOWOW !!!@@igge
Amazing, isn't it? 😁
Also feel free to join the Elma discord (link in description) if you have any questions or just want to see what's up :)
